Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die

Gen_5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
IN THE DAY.
the very day he ate it.
his eyes were opened and he knew he was naked < SINNED. severed from perfect fellowship with God due to SIN.
everything started dying THAT DAY.
including the fig leaves they plucked off to cover their shame.

all died in Adam.

now i want your 1,000 years = one day theory please.
all applications.

that is not alive flesh. it is fetid, infected disease ridden breeding grounds. not ALIVE flesh at all.

you are just joining two words and redefining it to make it mean what you want. which is fine if you are talking to yourself in your head but if you want to communicate to others then you should use the English language as it was designed to be used.

You could call it infected flesh, diseased flesh, poisoned flesh. but to call it "alive flesh" seems to be mocking the LIFE God gives us and just confuses any message you are trying to convey.
The what would you call an organic dwelling place with infection and disease? If it was dead, there would be no disease or infection. Disease and infection mutates and makes something that God did not create. What scientist would not call an organic disease ridden body alive? Don't most consider viruses, bacteria, mold, etc. alive?

So you're saying that we cannot be holy (in every aspect of life) until we have our new bodies (which I believe will still be made out of earth, just new earth)?
nope we weren't even discussing that. God's children are clothed in the righteousness of Christ and are made HOLY by His blood and atoning sacrifice on the cross. but if you are asking if we can be JESUS in this life with our sinful flesh bodies, then the answer is NO we can't but we can be who GOD created us to be and do the work He gave us for His glory.

as the the comment "I believe will still be made out of earth, just new earth" its just ignoring the fact that the Bible says that our bodies will be like JESUS body which was raised from the dead and what 1 Corinthians 15 says.

Why would God make such an example of circumcision (cutting off the flesh and letting it die by not grafting it back on) if it did not apply spiritually?
is that what you are not getting? one of the men want to explain it. while you at it ask yourself why women didn't have to be circumcised in the OT but are in the NT.

The responses I have been getting inform me that there is much flesh that is squirming at the thought of dying, and that's a good thing.

.....don't get to excited there....

I accept the fact that my body is dying every moment of every day but my SPIRIT is alive in Christ and will live eternally. so no squirming here. just deep concern for your mental and spiritual health.

well I'm sure many on here will be praying for you.

I think I'm echoing Kefa's feeling of nausea now. going to find Abiding and his cookies and maybe someone will have some milk...

I agree it was in the day he ate it, but how long is a day according to the perspective of the flesh, and how long according to the spirit? Or do you believe that the two perspectives don't exist? Adam didn't live to be 1000 years, you think that's a coincidence or God did it on purpose? Actually, nobody in the Bible lived to be 1000 years old (unless you consider enoch and elijah), and so everyone was less than a day old (faith of a child).

2Pe_3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Why the encouragement to not be ignorant of this one thing? It's important in order for you to know that you're just a baby, like all of us.

This verse along with adam dying before 1000, and God saying that adam would die in the day he ate of the tree, how can you not see it?

I have three verses not out of context to help you understand this, what verses do you have to support your theory?

wow you really want a science lesson?

how about an experiment. take a piece of steak or bread... leave it out for a few days... do things grow on it? (most will say yes)

is the steak or bread alive? (most sane people would say NO)

therefore infectious tissue would be considered DEAD tissue even if the host is living and most often needs to be removed so that the living tissue can heal. therefore the fetid, infected, putrid tissue would be called DEAD FLESH not LIVING flesh. you just twist the definitions around to make it say what you want it to say but its not how most people use those terms. therefore if you truly want to communicate, i suggest you be more careful how you use words.

disease and infections are curses that accompanied the fall of Adam from Eden.

the scientist who is working at the morgue would call the dead, organic disease ridden body, dead and infectious...

most scientists consider viruses as not alive because they can't reproduce outside a host but that's kind of beside the point because we are trying to understand what the BIBLE says not what scientist think.

If viruses, mold, and disease cannot reproduce outside a host, then if that's true it testifies even more to the nature of the flesh. The host dies (the flesh) and so does the plague.

nope, even posted scriptures about how to live as a NEW Creation in Christ,( which you kind of ignored)

mainly just object to your use of "dead flesh" and false claims about how Jesus came in "dead flesh" and your misunderstanding of how Jesus body was changed after His death and resurrection and many other things you have said.

mmm but i'm going to post this and hope no new post pops up...

I never said anything about the time we're supposed to live. We were created to be eternal, not temporary.

still no scripture to support your fleshly perspectives. So where are you from? How old are you? What are you made out of? Will you answer those questions according to the flesh as well? You don't even know your real name.

Dying To Self
**

Galatians 2:20*
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Luke 9:23*

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Galatians 5:24*

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Mark 8:35*

For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it.

Matthew 10:35
And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

John 12:24*

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

1 Corinthians 15:31

I protest, brothers, by my pride in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die every day!

Romans 6:1-23*

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. ...

1 Peter 2:24*

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Romans 12:1*

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

2 Corinthians 4:8

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;

1 Peter 4:1-11*

Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. ...

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, ...

Hebrews 12:2*

Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Revelation 20:4*

Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

1 John 2:1-29*

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: ...

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. ...

Matthew 18:1-35*

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, ...

Romans 6:3*

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

Matthew 6:1-34*

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. ...

1 Peter 2:1-25*

So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. ...

he's speaking from a spiritual aspect ... Of course no blood is involved ...
instead the spirit cuts off the source of the Fleshes PLEASURE sources "all things feeding the flesh" .... Causing a circumcision of the flesh man nature .... no blood involved that you can see no! this is done inwardly not outwardly ...
the flesh man then becomes a "dead" but living sacrifice to the spirit man .... Who knows no death ... a transformation taking place .... Spirit overriding flesh ...
OH.... Cuts off all sources of the flesh's pleasure.... no pleasure in eating, drinking, affection, sex.... ohhhhh... suddenly Jon being a eunuch becomes... better to understand.

I never said anything about the time we're supposed to live. We were created to be eternal, not temporary.
I see that it would be edifying to post this thread about the dead/holy flesh of God, and it's true that God proved His flesh has always been dead by dying for us while never committing a sin (actions, attitudes, thoughts, and words responsible for evil). I will prove that God came to this earth in dead flesh (I hope after these scriptures you will understand what I mean by dead flesh, and how we can all have dead flesh, which is an exceeding great gift).

explain this blah blah please.

so far you haven't proven:

- The Eternal God existed in flesh ['dead' or alive] prior to the Incarnation.
- God's flesh has always been dead
- that God came to this earth in dead flesh

dead flesh is PUTRID MEAT [which God said is UNCLEAN]

what's the implication ^^ of what you are claiming jon4?

i hope there's no one else on your mystery tour with you.
Mark was right - you need a proper church jon4.
