Could be because you just wanted to go to her house to do your duty ("give my neighbor the gospel"), instead of be a neighbor first.

I still get annoyed by people who give me the gospel before they find out if I want to hear it, or even if I don't already have it. If you don't have time to get to know me first, don't have time to preach at me.

Good news. I wouldn't have screamed at you.

Bad news. You'd never come to dinner either.
Usually people who act like these believe that God is the antithesis of their sins. In the case of my neighbor, she was renting the house and told me she was a salesman who made $50,000 a year but she had a boyfriend and she came home with bed hair one morning. She had cars pulling up in the middle of the night and there were fights so we learned that she was a prostitute. And she was in a custody battle with her ex and she abandoned her daughter when I told her why she wouldn't win her court fight.

She had a pimp and he gave her a list of churches where you can get support like groceries and the like so they were using the churches and not changing. I bought her groceries once.

I've dealt with those types who abuse the goodness of churches and people.....they won't actually repent till they hit rock bottom so sometimes you have to give them "tough" love and turn off the spout of generosity so to speak until they get real with God.....

And now I am curious to know also, all those times she held you captive on the phone, was she just spilling out her toxic waste all over you, or were you able to get any questions in, and explanations from her without all the added verbal abuse?
Usually when you get hit, you don't get a chance to get the gospel out.
And then I'm like, "What am I in trouble for?"
No. They keep changing the subject and it is hard to get back on the subject because they don't wish to hear it.

1 Corinthians 2:14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

I work with an individual that would rather be hungry than go to a church that gives out free food. His answer is,"Because they will want to talk to me."

Jud 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
Jud 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

A lot of people do not fall for God loves you,and Jesus is the savior of the world, but every person might be reached a different way, which prophesy is one of those ways.

Isa 41:21 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
Isa 41:22 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
Isa 41:23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
Isa 41:24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.
Isa 41:25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.
Isa 41:26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.
Isa 41:27 The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.
Isa 41:28 For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
Isa 41:29 Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.

God identifies Himself as the one true God,of all the gods people call gods,by showing us the beginning to the end of the history of mankind.

The Bible tells us of all the things that are going on now, many years ago,to warn the world to escape these things, and to be right with Him.

If you know the Bible good enough, and prophesy,it will be hard for a lot of people to dismiss it,which a lot say,it will not happen in our lifetime, but some still will not believe it.

Prophesy is how God identifies Himself as the one true God,although creation testifies there is a God,but that is in general, for it does not necessarily point to the God of Israel, but His word points to the God of Israel as the true God.

I agree with your message here, but am confused on something. Christ did tell us to repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand. There is the need to repent of your sins in the bible. We have all fallen short of the glory of God, and we have all given into temptation and have sinned. Even those of us who have come to Christ cannot claim that we have done perfectly since coming to Him. But even still, we are still told that we must repent. I would agree that spreading the word that we must never sin again in order to be saved is wrong, but you do stand for the need to repent, right?
Hi Yerazabats.
This thought came while reading your post.
Maybe the emphasis to repent is more 'collectively'.

Whether it be Israel, or if we're praying for our country(s),
or as the church body, (see Revelation),
the message of repentence may be more urgent,
but as individuals, how beautiful is it,
that we can hear Him say personally to us,
'Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more'.

With that knowledge and security in our Savior,
that there is now no condemnation for us indivually,
we can come together to seek repentence where we
need it as a whole, ... where we lack forgiveness,
where we lack in duty or calling, where we don't come
alongside each other in prayer, encouragement, healing,

.....we can repent and ask the Lord to revive us, and then
the msg to the world will hold more weight,
but to individuals it still should be Jesus loves you,
He died for your sins and rose from the grave...

(as you know...the Gospel of the good news),

and not so much 'repent of your sin and God might save you'.
(I'm not saying that's what YOU are saying,
just that that's what some insist is the christian msg.)
Thank you for your thought-provoking post. :)

Who would you like to have burned at the stake today?
Who burned the steak?!
Why, that's borderline sacrellidge! (?)
The naughty nerve!
Why I oughta.....

Heh, wrong stake! But I'll have mine medium rare, with oven roasted potatoes :) Pass the butter, please! :)
OH! Okay.....
I'd be happy to cook you a prime rib dinner
that'll melt in your mouth. No strings attached.
(They're hard to digest) ;)

Let me try to put it in perspective. I believe that it is wrong to be homosexual. I follow this believe by not being homosexual. However I understand that not everyone believes as I do and that is there right. I'm not going to stop eating pork chops because a Muslim tells me it's against his religion

Are you attracted to men but deny yourself the forbidden pleasure on the basis of it being wrong?

How do you deal with multiple people calling someone who witnesses a bigot for saying that Christianity is the right way?

In other words, if you say that Christianity is the right way and there is no other way, there are people who want to call Christians bigots for that.

Rather simply, sometimes the person who calls another, a bigot, is usually bigoted themselves.. :/

Not really. He claimed not to practice homosexuality on the basis if it being wrong. But is that really why? Or does he not practice homosexuality because he is in fact not attracted to men? There is a huge difference.

No Dr Phil, I have no homosexuality tendencies.
Another example. .. I believe Christians should up abstain from alcohol but if another Christian monster have a beer I'm not going to tell him that he can't do it because it's against my beliefs.

So then that is why you do not practice homosexuality, not simply because
you believe it is wrong. Just getting at the salient facts, Dude!

Are you on a phone? "Christian monster have a beer" LOL :)

If I could rep you twice I would, unfortunately I can't even rep you once as I
have to spread the rep around a bit first. :)

Some people think it is their duty to whack people over the head with the gospel
but they do not have to be a good neighbour. They think they are being good
Christians telling someone they are going to hell but behind closed doors they
shout at the wife and kids at the slightest provocation. They will offer you a lift to
church to hear the gospel service that morning, but wouldn't even think to give you
a lift to the hospital to see a sick relative etc.

The gospel message is the most effective when it is demonstrated in the life of the
person who is speaking the message. Many people are put off Christians because
they see the hypocrisy in the life of the speaker. After all if you saw a bald man selling
hair restoration cream, would you buy it.

Another thing which come to mind, don't point to Christianity, point to Jesus.
He is the way the truth and the life, not us. :)

Thats right. Who wants to be treated as a "project". We need to stop thinking of people as projects and start thinking of them as persons. Stop witnessing to them, and start being a witness to them of the reality that Jesus lives, and that He lives in us. The best evangelistic tool we have is a life that has no explanation other than Jesus.

Though this might scream "prosperity Gospel!", I think of Joseph and Potiphar. Potiphar, a non-believer, acknowledged God because of the favor that was upon Joseph. A favor that blessed Potiphar only because Joseph was present.

I believe in the Bible and I believe the teachings of Christ but I am really beginning to dislike Christians. Anyone who disagrees with them on any given subject is obviously a heretic and should be burned at the stake
Completely amazing. Coming from you its like Black people calling each other . . .

More than sometimes, my Lady. Almost always.

Case in point: I call you Blue because deep down inside, I'm a Smurfist. ;)
