And attention deficit, being put on drugs as a child because you have an excess of energy? Jeepers! People medicate everything and then wonder why the world is going sideways. LOL. Oh, but it is not funny, is it, when they have to search children for hidden weapons before they can enter school property? The crazy thing is how many drugs, including antidepressants, have side effects that include depression and an increase in suicidal thoughts.
My husband still has ADD. He's 69 and as long as he can remember the thoughts threw around his mind so fast it was hard not to be distracted. No such diagnosis back then, so his grades reflected his passion. He liked history and arithmetic, so he was willing to do those at home to study. He hated his English teacher. (who told him he'd fail at the beginning of the year), so it wasn't worth taking the time at home to study, and he failed 10th grade a couple of times simply because there was only one 10th grade English teacher. He quit school and joined the Navy. He also helps me with grammar rules.

I've lived with the evidence of that back in the days before home computers. He likes studying the Word, but he sees a word, has to go research that word, then that catches him on something else, and eventually he gets through it all to understand that one passage. BUT we had a study room back then with a loveseat, coffee table and wall-to-wall bookcases. He'd study for four hours and when he was done, there was a spot cleared on the loveseat that told where he sat. The rest was covered with 2-4 layers of big heavy books. (Strong's Concordance is big. Add Englishman's something-another, Lexicons, Bible Picture Words, and tons of others and it gets messy.) The coffee table was solid with a shelf under it and two cupboards on either side of the second shelf. The thing was so covered with books -- up, down, in and out -- that books fell to the side of it. He was surrounded by four feet of books, 2-4 books high, most opened, and all because he wanted to study the Bible.

That is the visual on ADD. He learned to adapt with it, so doesn't take meds, but that's only because he truly likes to learn.

Again ADD or ADHD ... It's only logical that if your kid is pumped up on sugar (North America's staple food) that he will be maybe hyper and have a hard time concentrating. :D

Also ... most kids today don't have God ... which has many terrible side-effects.
Actually, the science is out. Sugar isn't a stimulant and doesn't cause hyperactivity at all. Just an old wives tale.

I'm happy to say that GOD delivered me from my depression. :) Drugs didn't..
Here's a weird one. A drug did deliver hubby from chronic depression. Vitamin B12.

Paul to Timothy-- "take a little wine for your frequent infirmities." a LITTLE wine... since that is all that was available at the time. He probably knew Timothy's faith would bloom quickly as he drew near to God and Christ and he was empowered by the Holy Spirit to overcome all things and fears. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind." And he knew Timothy would not abuse it. "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.." (James)
Paul and Tim hung out. And then they split for different missions. And then one of their buddies told Paul that Tim wasn't feeling well, but in order to do that, the buddy had to walk from where Tim was to where Paul was. And then Paul wrote to Tim. And then someone took that to Tim.

That stomach ailment was not a 1-3 day stomach bug. Tim wasn't miraculously healed, or there would have been no need for the medical advice. So, no, it really wasn't "take a little wine tonight and call me in the morning." It was bigger than that.

Where exactly? Saying something like this is not helpful at all. Please be specific.

Who has said you should go without drugs? I must have missed that...

Thank you. I put you on my prayer card faithfully :)
I got tired of explaining all the misinformation. I can tell you I learned one important thing from this thread -- NEVER EVER ask for health related information on this site. Too many think they know much more than they do, and it really is the typical Christian-cultural stuff vs. the real Christian stuff -- eat your veggies, eat just right, eat healthy, cereal is a veggie, don't buy into silly things like autism or ADD, drugs are evil and run by evil corporations, doctors are morons because I know better, and you too shall live healthy until you're very old!

That is much less helpful than trying to cite every wrong "fact."

Magenta to the rescue again! What a beautiful picture-- We are all young in Heaven-- or at least age 30...
I can feel the power of God's love in your posts...
Angela53510 usually appears to bash everything i say after I post something-- I think she secretly wants to ask me out...
Actually, I doubt she was even thinking about your post. Maybe a persecution complex?

This is what happens when people are stupid, use herbs and supplements rather than taking their children to their doctor or the hospital. Their ideology killed their son. This couple is also famous for making some kind of herb for bipolar disorder, that only works as a placebo.

"A southern Alberta couple accused of allowing their meningitis-infected toddler to die four years ago tried home remedies such as olive leaf extract and whey protein rather than take him to a doctor, a Lethbridge jury heard Monday."

Parents of toddler who died of meningitis used home remedies rather than consult doctor, court hears - Calgary - CBC News

A few years ago, two parents in Philly had religious beliefs that said never to go to the doctors. Their first child died of something easily treatable because they were busy praying for God's miraculous cure. They were prosecuted, but the judge dismissed the case because of "freedom of religion."

Two years later their second child died of the same thing. They lost rights to the rest of their kids.

Yeah, okay. Been here before. I was just telling Magenta why no one bothered to point out every error preached. You've merely proved the point.

(Like I'm NOW going to believe you on your one word? Seriously? Do the research. I was one of those old wives until I did the research. Grow up.)

Luke was a doctor....use wine for thy stomachs sake Paul said to Timothy...the legitimate use of meds is biblical....to abuse drugs for getting high is not biblical....that is where I stand....Positive God will correct me if wrong when I stand before him....or should say bow before him.....

As a child I was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. I remember the doctor giving me Ritalin but my mother had me stop taking it because you turn me into a zombie. I still have many of the traits. Frequently misplacing things, easily frustrated, difficulty maintaining eye contact during a conversation. If I have to multitask I'll become extremely irritated. My ex-girlfriend tried to get me to go to the doctor and get Adderall but I'm leery of that because it is an amphetamine which is highly addictive

Grow up? SERIOUSLY? Woman you have quite the silver tongue on you! I simply disagree with you. Im sure this isnt the first time someone has disagreed with you is it? Do you insult all people whose opinion differs from yours? Your fruit stinks.

Maybe God will deliver me from my frequent bouts of depression and anxiety too.

I will pray for you Tourist. God delivered me from depression, too! He had me figure out what I was anxious about, before it became everything. But my husband is still taking medication, and B12 too! Maybe that is just who he is.

Actually, the science is out. Sugar isn't a stimulant and doesn't cause hyperactivity at all. Just an old wives tale.
There are so many contradictory info when we read, but what i learned is that a family w/ a child diagnosed w/ Add had a naturopath prescribe cutting out refined sugars and artificial additives, and adding natural supplements for deficiencies. And their child stopped being the zombie she was after stopping her doctor-prescribed meds, It was basically getting live food from probiotics, green and powerful antioxidants like wheat, chlorella and spirulina, rich in zinc, calcium, magnesium, chromium, lithium, B group vitamins, vitamin C, and choline, all strongly linked deficiencies with learning disabilities and hyperactive behavior in children.

A secret is eliminating carbonated drinks, excitotoxins--aspartame and msg, food colors. And to give fruits like berries, and veggies that are available.

I believe he will. He delivered me from depression and anxiety. He delivered me from all kinds of things in the matter of only 2 yrs. I pray you have the faith to believe he can and will deliver you from this. I dont say this with guile but I am just trying to be encouraging to you a brother in Christ.. Faith is believing in things unseen. It wasnt until I finally believed God will honor my faith that I was set free. Ill be praying for you to be set free. Blessings

I think any effort to restore the proper balance is worth something. I just started a couple weeks ago ... I still eat some meat ... but I used to eat 80 percent meat 20 percent other ... lol ... now it's the opposite - and I must say I feel great. I used to joke that I was not a rabbit - just look at me now! :D
That is good to hear.

That website you have noted in your post - the natural news is a good one. I like how he does testing of products to see what is actually in them. What about the time he tested "organic rice" from China..it was full of heavy metals...not good. Not all advertising is correct when it comes to foods whether chemical laced ones or even organic ones. Buyer beware!

Mayo Clinic researchers report that almost 7 in 10 Americans today are taking at least one
prescription drug, and over half are taking at least two.

A smaller percentage of Americans are on numerous prescriptions. In 2014, Americans were
written a total of 4.33 billion prescriptions. There are 319 million of us. This means the average
American is written more than 13 prescriptions each year.

About 16 percent of all hospital admissions are related to adverse reactions to prescription drugs

Women are at particularly high risk of complications from pharmaceuticals.
That is in large part because, although women take the majority of prescription drugs,
many drugs are only ever tested on men.

The Journal of Law, Medicine and Ethics states that pharmaceuticals used as prescribed
are the fourth-leading cause of death for Americans. That puts medication-induced deaths
ahead of diabetes, car accidents and aids. The death rate for prescription drugs is 10 times
higher than the number of people killed by illegal drugs.

A patient should ask the doctor about a statistic called the nnt:
the “Number Needed to Treat.”

The nnt is a piece of data doctors and pharmaceutical companies generally don’t like to discuss.
It records the number of people who need to take a certain drug in order for one of them to be
helped by it.

Consider the example of statin, a class of drug routinely prescribed to lower patients’ cholesterol
levels. But the nnt for the most-widely prescribed statin is a jaw-dropping 250. That means for
every 250 people taking it, this statin helps only one person.

Dr. Jerome R. Hoffman, professor of clinical medicine at the University of California,
Los Angeles, explained:

“What if you put 250 people in a room and told them they would each pay $1,000 a year
for a drug they would have to take every day … and that 249 would have no benefit?
And that they could do just as well by exercising? How many would take that?”

Statin has an unusually high nnt, but the GlaxoSmithKline pharmaceutical company estimates
that 90 percent of all prescription drugs work for only 30 to 50 percent of people taking them.
So in general, you’ve got a 50-50 chance of relief—at best.

And in many cases, the effects of your medications are far worse than neutral.
That leads to the second question a patient should ask.

‘What Are the Side Effects?’

Before agreeing to a new prescription, a patient should also ask the doctor about the drug’s side
effects and the percentage of people who suffer from them.

To stick with the example of statin, the side effects are serious. They include joint pain, muscle pain
and gastrointestinal distress. These are known to affect about 5 percent of people taking the drug.
(In severe cases, it can also cause muscle breakdown and type-2 diabetes.)

So, if you add the side-effect percentage to the nnt, you see that for every 250 people taking the
most-widely prescribed statin, just one person is helped, while more than a dozen suffer side effects.
Each individual patient is 12.5 times more likely to be harmed than he is to be aided by the drug
