Jesus, being the form of God, said to Jews "you have not seen His form." Why?

The parable of the ten virgins sheds 'light' on this.

Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. The foolish one took their lamps but did not take along any extra oil. But the wise one took oil in vessels along with their lamps...

Everyone had their lamp, but only the wise thought it prudent, I'd say as much even as necessary, that the foolish, obviously, must've thought otherwise, to keep (the) vessel which carried extra oil. The vessel which, subsequently, is associated to the bridegroom's intimate knowledge of them, especially considering that he responds to the foolish' plead that he open the door to them with the answer, "I never knew you."

So, although everyone can appreciate the significance of 'the lamp,' not everyone recognizes the import of 'the vessel' which carries extra oil for the lamp.

Using a similar explanation of this analogy to answer the op, these that have not seen the form of the father have not seen (the form of) the lamp tho they have the express evidence (an other form of) it exists right before their very eyes.

Jesus, being the form of God, standing in front of Jews, told them "you have not seen the form of the Father". (But He was standing in front of them) - John 5:37

Why did Jesus say that? Is he not the form of the Father?

reference:
John 5:37: "And the Father who sent Me, He has borne witness of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form.
Philippians 2:6: who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
Colossians 1:15: And
He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation.
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
He stepped down into the form of a servant. So when he was on earth in the form of a servant he was not in the same form as he was before humbliing himself to be a man. They were seeing him in that humble state and that is not the form of God that he was before he became the form of a servant. No man has seen God and no man has seen Jesus in the Form of God that he was before he became the form of a servant.

"So Jesus meant that the Jews have not seen God in His invisible form."

We are always in danger when attempting to change the word of God, or give new rendering, allegorizing especially.

This is indeed easy to do - to stray. Yet when we stray we can easily say "Lord forgive me for my foolishness."

The word is εἶδος, for form/shape and means literally "the appearance, fashion, shape, sight of."

The word by no means renders "invisible" as a translation, but we can imagine this to be true in error.

By experience I believe the Holy Spirit gave me all I need know for salvation. As for knowing more than others, I know I do not, but what I know has been given me for my way given by Jesus-Yeshua. It is the same for all who believe.

Is there anything we must know other than Yeshua crucified for our salvation, and the free gift that comes with it, the faith, the hope and the love?

Yahweh showed me in a dream the many ways He may give to all. They arrive to the same place........the Kingdom. Some have a highway, others have an expressway, and so on. My way was shown as a dark and winding mountain road full of ruts and a warning came with it.........there are no trees on this road..............Yeshua is driving, and there are other people in the back of a station wagon...and so it goes. You do not need to believe this, but, allow me and those who will to do so.

If you truly believe Jesus-Yeshua, I have nothing to inform you more.
What is the meaning of "Yeshua"?

It is my preferred name for our Savior. When I use it I am aware I am saying The Redemption of Yah, for this is what it means. Yeshi...Yah my Redeemer juist like the name of the father of David. Also when I say David I am aware it means Beloved, which aids in understanding juist about Whom David truly is, and what His Throne truly is.

And the Angel said to Mary you shall name the Child Jesus, for He shall save His people. If a person is not aware that Jesus is the same as Iesous, Jesu, Yeshua, The Salvatiosn of God, when he or she reads this inthe Word, it really will not yet make much sense. So I like Yeshua., although I know when I say Jesus, it is the same.

I thought it just meant salvation like Joshua in Hebrew.

Thank you for this reminder of reigning with our Lord. Tis is what the words making up Israel mean, Reigning with Elohanu, God. This is the Israel of our Father and Savior...
brings to mind the old cartoons where the character becomes a burn match stick.
