Your focus is too narrow.
Men will face the lake of fire whether or not they believe in Christ.
So is yours.
Yet you still do not acknowledge what Jesus said, the verse you asked me to post. So I will do it again for you.
John 16:8-9
8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me;
There you have it the words of the only sinless person who walked the earth.
if it’s belief then it’s unbeleif.
If it’s unbeleif then it’s not faith.
It is the sin of unbelief—a refusal to trust in Jesus.
In your initial response to when I said that the Holy Spirit comes to convict the world of sin which is unbeleif in him you responded with
“Though I agree with the statement (based on Heb 10:39) I cant remeber Jesus ever saying such a thing.
Have you a scripture in mind. (Post 43248 was my response where I posted the scripture)
Your response (post 43322)
”Hebrews 10:39 wasn’t enough for you?
Lack of belief isn’t a sin
The sin is all the other things they have done against God And their neighbours“
So obviously Hebrews wasn’t enough for me you asked. No it wasn’t because I trust the words of Jesus over men.
What I find intersting and I totally agree with you “All the other things they have done against God and their neighbours”
Who is they and who are our neighbours according to your sentence?
What context are you using here?
What about our enemies?
So given what I believe that the sin of unbelief is to refuse to trust in Jesus I actually would take it further.
It goes beyond placing our faith in Jesus initially.
Jesus said “Do not worry about your life. Your Father will provide for you.
This is a command of Jesus, and he follows it with “But seek his kingdom”
If we have just one worry one doubt then we cannot fully seek his kingdom.
If we worry then we don’t truly trust what Jesus said. Therfore unbelief, Not trusting him for his provision.
Therefore a sin.
Can you honestly say that you have not had a worry that you have tried to sort out yourself rather than trust God.
What about the guy who came to Jesus and said “Jesus I believe help me in my unbelief”
A man who acknowledge belief but at the same time had unbelief, with tears in his eyes.
Did Jesus rebuke him? No he did not.
Actually what is sin to you?
You say it’s not unbelief therefore what is it?
You said earlier that you read the bible to others (I think in Burgerking) are they your neighbours?
What about loving your brothers? Who are your brothers?
What about loving your enemies? Who are they?
You have said that we cannot be perfect/sinless unless we have the Holy Spirit in us.
If that’s the case why did Jesus say
Matthew 5:48
48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect?
They didn’t have the Holy Spirit in them so why tell them to be perfect?
I suggest to you that you focus on what Jesus said and his true intent and then reconcile that with the books after the Gospels.
If we could truly be sinless then there was no reason for Jesus to die for us.
If we could be truly sinless then there is no reason why Jesus should be interceding for us.
He could have just taught like he did then say “Right I’ve told you what you have to do, now I am going back to Father and go be sinless”
John 16:9
9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me;
