I agree, true believers strives to obey the calling of God after they are saved. We pressed on...

Philippians 3:14 King James Version (KJV)
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
It's not rocket science is it?

Mind you have us greacy gracers, ASOS and ES believers dont believe it.

We are too busy sitting on our fat backsides, preaching that works will not follow as a result of being saved, preaching that we can sin all we want and promoting it.

Of course you are saved if you continue to murder people, rob banks, have multiple affairs. Carry on after all Jesus died so you can continue this sinful lifestyle. Go for it and have fun.

After all we have never read Romans 5-6. We cross it out on our Bibles.

There are some mad scientists on this thread building rockets and using their own their own fuel to build it.

And it aint the greasy gracers.

What is the stigma?
Changes depending on the person who wants to attack a group of letters opposed to what the individual they are speaking with is actually saying...

Which is why I understand when people don't want to be lumped in a group...

The largest ones I have noticed I mentioned in my post.

1. <- false converts with no transformation being lumped in. (tares)

2. <- calvinist stigma

3. <- sinners prayer stigma (which I also believe is wrongly often tied to the word "baptist")

and people have tried to get me to defend these 3 things (as well as others)

Ignoring my words

and using a group of letters like osas to talk AROUND my words

I have noticed people take OSAS and pretend it is a denomination in itself, they will take the beliefs of lets say "Fredrickjoebob" who may indeed not be born again and instead of having new desires gives an example of one who does indeed not appreciate Gods grace.

Then lump that with those who have been born again and trust in the promises of God and know what they mean.... eternal security for His children...

Personally I never signed up for an acronym, I dislike the stimga that comes with "osas"...

But I do believe once saved, always saved.

So when someone calls me OSAS I just let it slide and go into the difference between wrongly believing youre saved, and actually being born again...

I'd rather none of us hold on to acronyms and all just let our own beliefs stand on His word in discussion.

Too many times people have used strawmen and swung at "calvinists" or "baptists" or "osas" or whatever else... when I simply stated what God's word said....

these man made titles sometimes make it easier to spot cultish members like the mormons..or JW...
but usually get in the way of solid debate

no?
Marines use acroynms all the time HAHAHH so........either way it is good for me

I understand.

A person I knew several years ago nearly lost their mind  when they found out I believed once saved always saved.

Since then I actually like the stigma... but you are right, right off the bat I was accused of being a Calvinist but I take that as a good thing too, because it allows us to differentiate the true OSAS as presented here on this thread rather than the Calvinist version which has dominated people's biases.

A false convert is known by their doctrine.

But I do understand... we work hard to get the truth out against all the stigma.... however OSAS does carry a lot of baggage that is not really OSAS... one Google search will show that.

Like I said Satan never takes a day off.

I try to avoid them if I can when not sure what they mean.

Done that since my daughter text to say she got A** in A-Level maths.

I responded with "WTF"
Apparently it doesn't mean "Well that's fantastic"

A saved person is saved.... no lie there only truth.
That is the promise of God who is complete truth.
Yes, the saved are saved. I must write more clearly to avoid such confusion. I certainly hope I did not write that the saved weren't saved, Please give me the post number where I wrote that, so I can do what I can to fix it. Thanks.

I am addressing the "I thought I was saved, only to find out I never was - ers"

You have to have the Baptism conducted by the Holy Spirit FIRST where HE immerses you into the Spiritual BODY of CHRIST, or the sinners goes into the waters of baptism and only comes up just a WET sinner.

THIS IS THE BAPTISM THAT SAVES.

1 Corinthians 12:13-14 (HCSB)
13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit [including the thief on the Cross] into one body
whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
14 So the body is not one part but many.

I REPEAT, That is the BAPTISM that SAVES YOU.

Christian Water Baptism is only a Publically identifies you as a follower of CHRIST.

1 Peter 3:20 (NCV)
20 who refused to obey God long ago in the time of Noah. God was waiting patiently for them while Noah was building the boat. Only a few peopleeight in allwere saved by water.
I think the dove landed after.

AWWWWW come on EG....we ll know the bible does not mean it....we must jump through spiritual hoops, speak in tongues, be immersed, sprinkled and take 3 showers a day, say 57 hail Marys, sing Amazing grace 76 times, do 37.5 works a day, never sin, or just mess up once in a while, back flip down the isle and then, just maybe we might be saved...........

Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault ye which are spiritual restore such an one in the spirit of meekness, considering thyself lest thou also be tempted, 2 Bear ye one anothers burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if a man think himself to be something when he is nothing he deceiveth himself 4 But let every man prove his own work and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone and not in another. 5 for every man shall bear his own burden 6 Be not deceived, God is not mocked for whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that soweth to the spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

I wonder what percentage of 'non believers' study the bible. Do you think the advice God gives is for those who never open it cause they don't care and wont be saved?

I hope you don't mind but I stalked you.
Read about you.
Your birthday is May 17. Mine is May 15.

You were saved in the same year as I was.

Don't know your age but I'm 51.

You are male.

Now this surprised me given the quote above.

Because men do not generally speak like this.

"I rejoice for you beloved"

Men do not normally relate that way. Well not over here.

I thought you were female.

I interpreted your post as someone who loves me.
Jesus said beloved meaning he loves them.

Now I may have got my thoughts wrong but for me I genuinely believe that us men need to express our love for each other.

Just like David and Jonathan did.

God bless you beloved brother.
Mine is also May 17th...:) cool to know about you guys.

i wouldn't call people who get a 'list of contradictions' from an atheist website and copy-paste them angrily at believers, 'studying the Bible'

so, i'd say that percentage is very very very low. and if they don't believe, how useful is it that they study, since they don't understand what they are reading? i guess, if they do come to a knowledge of the truth, they passages aren't unfamiliar when they go back to 'study them again'

@DeighAnn...Jeremiah 15:16 is one of my favs. Praise be to Him, though...if one is illiterate or does not have the word available, our God is able to reveal Himself. Even creation itself testifies, right? I love the living powerful word of God. I am so thankful for education and access, and now technology that has made it not only possible but convenient to dig in deeper; consuming His word is such a Heavenly privilege.
