I wait with bated breath for you to share something substantive.
Unfortunately you never have shared something substantive in your replies to me. And it is interesting that you don't think the fact that God preserves us unto salvation is not substantive. WOW! o_O

So how much resurrecting power will you provide towards the resurrection of your body?

...and how much regenerative power did your faith add to regeneration? Or is regeneration a work of God that is accomplished by His power alone?

I didn't say my soul was dead. I said Spirit was dead, spiritually dead. What do you suppose it means that we were dead in our sins, and then God quickened us (made us alive) with Christ?

Regeneration is a SPIRITUAL RESURRECTION. Only God raises the dead, whether physical or spiritual

So how much energy will you provide for the resurrection of your body? About the same ammount of energy you provided for the resurrection of your spirit

I'm glad to hear that you think I am in left field because I believe in spiritual death and spiritual resurrection. This is what happens when you believe. Before you believed you were dead in your trespasses and sins. Then God raised you to spiritual life.

I guess Lightskin doesn't believe in spiritual death, or do you Captain Lightskin?

Were you made alive with Christ, KJV

Titus states regeneration and renewing are TWO different things. That's why the word "and" is there. Gotta go. See you all later.

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

I see two things here. Regeneration and renewing.

And renewing is a process that begins at salvation and also happens after you are saved. Regeneration is similtaneous with salvation. But I'll talk to you more about that later

I’m made alive in Christ because my husband is dead. We’ve been through that before remember.

By the way I’m not against you, I said your way out in left field because you are, not trying to offend by that.

We’ve been through that to. The washing is the washing by the word of God.

Titus says the washing is by the Holy Spirit. Romans 12 and Titus 3 is not talking about the same thing

Titus 3 :5is talking about what happens at salvation

Romans 12:1-2 is what Christians are to do AFTER they’re saved

Romans 12 is an imperative, ie do this

Titus 3;5 is an indicative. This is what God did in saving you.

Read both passages and compare.

Titus 3:5is in the past tense. Already done

Romans12:1-2 is an imperative. Something Paul is telling them to do

I am not in left field. Read the passages and see, and let me know if you see what I am saying. If not, I have a set of questions for you

Tit 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
Tit 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Tit 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Before we came to Christ, we did bad things, but after God CONVICTED us of doing those things, then the kindness and love of God came to us

It didn't come by works that we have done, it came by 1) saving us 2) washing us 3) renewing us.

That's all I can say about that, the love of God was shown to us by 1) saving us 2) washing us 3) renewing us. If you can't see that, I can't help you.... but even if you don't see it that way, I don't condemn you or look down on you and I still consider you a friend and a brother in the Lord. :)

Incorrect. Renewing of the mind in Romans 12:1-2 is not the same thing as regeneration or renewing of the Holy Spirit in Titus 3:5.

Whoever told you that was

Regeneration is not the same thing as being renewed in your mind. Whoever taught you that is a bad exegete. I think I know who it is. Renewing of mind is in Romans 12. Regeneration and renewing OF THE HOLY SPIRIT is in Galatians 3:6. Not the same thing.

Observe.

Titus 3:5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

HE saved us=PAST TENSE. Already accompished.

By the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit. Past tense, happened WHEN WE WERE SAVED.

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this [a]world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may [b]prove what the will of God is, that which is good and [c]acceptable and perfect.

a. Who is Paul writing to here?

Christians

b What is he telling them to do?

Be transformed by the renewing of their mind.

This is an imperative.

That means it is something that Paul is telling them to do. Something we do continually AFTER WE ARE SAVED.

So, regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit happened when we were saved.

But being renewed in our minds is something we are told to do AFTER we are saved.

Regeneration is a ONE TIME deal

Renewing of the mind is continuous.

Regeneration.

According to Hodge's Systematic Theology, the word regeneration is used almost universally to refer to the instantaneous change from spiritual death to spiritual life. He says it is not used to designate "the whole work of sanctification, nor the first stages of that work comprehended in conversion, much less justification or any mere external change of state."^[2]^ In calling it a spiritual resurrection—the beginning of a new life, Hodge adds, "Sometimes the word expresses the act of God. God regenerates. Sometimes it designates the subjective effect of his act" (emphasis added).

2. The Biblical theological perspective. The Gr. word for regeneration (παλιγγενεσία, G4098) is found only in Matthew 19:28 and Titus 3:5. In the first instance it refers to the restoration of the entire universe at the end time. Only in the latter case does it refer to the initiation of a new life in the believer. More commonly this new beginning is expressed by the Gr. verb γεννᾶν, or the compound verb ἀναγεννᾶν. These words mean “to beget,” “to beget again,” “to bear,” or “to give birth.” (Cf. John 1:13; 3:3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8; 1 Pet 1:23; 1 John 2:29; 3:9; 4:7; 5:1, 4, 18.) In one passage the Gr. word ἀποκύειν is used, which means “to bear” or “to bring forth” (James 1:18). The idea of the production of a new life is also expressed by the word κτίζειν, “to create” (Eph 2:10). The resulting creation is called a καινὴ̀ κτήσις, a “new creation” (2 Cor 5:17; Gal 6:15), or a καινὸ̀ς ἄνθρωπος, a “new man” (Eph 4:24). In two places there is the word συζωοποιεῖν, “to make alive with” or “to quicken with” (Eph 2:5; Col 2:13).

Regeneration is an instantaneous change

Renewing of the mind is a progressive change

Different things altogether.

Talk to you later. Take a couple days to think about it, read the texts, and consider what I said. No rush.

Interesting .... definitely spiritual
Not sure if the renewing of our mind is regeneration
1. Nope. Regeneration happened in the past. When we were saved. Titus 3:5 Renewing the mind is something that CHRISTIANS who are already saved are commanded to do. (Romans 12:2)

2. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind is an imperative command. Something Paul is telling Christians to do.

3. Regeneration happened the moment we got saved. God saved us BY the washing of regeneration and the renewal of the Holy Spirit.

4. Renewal by the Holy Spirit happened when we got saved too. Titus 3:5

5. Renewing of the mind by the word is something that people who are already saved are commanded to do.

I don’t know why you don’t understand that we are saved by grace through faith.
We are saved by grace through faith

We is the subject of the sentence

Are saved is the verb

Grace is the doer of the verb- grace saves us

Faith is is the means by which Grace saves us

Like I am typing words. My phone is not typing words, it is merely the instrument I use to type.

In the same way, God saved us, and faith is the instrument or agency through which He saved us

When you say faith alone saves, you are changing it to faith as the thing that accomplishes the action, instead of properly defining it as the means or instrumentality by which the action is accomplished by SOMETHING ELSE, ie GRACE

Seems to be a regular thing with him........The best bet....ignore permanently......Yes....best thing to do
You said faith is what saves because of grace. That is completely backwards. That would be “you are saved by faith through grace”

Nope. My Bible says saved BY grace THROUGH faith
