I don’t believe I’ve ever said that. That said, as I’ve mentioned in over posts, modern tongues are very tangible; they can be recorded, transcribed, and analyzed. The results of these studies are all essentially the same. There just isn’t anything that’s being produced that can’t be explained in terms of fairly easy linguistics. The processes used, even the sounds themselves are all very easily explained. This doesn’t exactly scream “divine”.

As I said, if what was being produced today could be said to be a definite language of some sort; i.e. it had structure, a definable phonemic inventory, a relatively set grammar, syntax, etc., I’d say we’re definitely on to something quite fascinating and supernatural. But this is simply not the case. There are as many “tongues” as there are speakers and many speakers will create more than one ‘tongue’ (they’re simply drawing from a different phonemic inventory). This also does not scream “divine”. If tongues were some sort of ‘angelic’, or ‘divine’ language – a language to be spoken on the spiritual/heavenly plane, why would there ever be a need for more than just one (universal ‘tongue’)?

My worldview includes the spiritual; perhaps not in the same context as yours, but it’s most certainly there. And, yes, I recognize the spiritual in quite a bit of world music (not that it has anything to do with ‘tongues’).

Record yourself speaking for about a minute or so (and even post it here if you’d like) – play it back and listen to it – truly listen to what you’re producing. Is it really language, or merrily a façade of language?
They've actually done some recordings of it and tested it out MEDICALLY, CHECK IT OUT!:

NOTE: I do not condone the possible heretics who may, or may not appear on the video!

Well, I see no point in trying further to convince someone whose mind is so tightly shut to learning.
It would seem the other way around.

What does the sign of tongues that has to do with mocking lips confirm ?

Yes, I think this was the SPECT imaging study done by the Univ. of PA.

See one of my previous posts for a comment about them - results were inconclusive in that one could use them to support with er 'pro' or 'con' view.

worse than sad

5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!

7always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

II Timothy 3
That verse has to do with Jannes and Jambres who withstood Moses.... men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith as the unseen things of God..

They believed not the word of God, prophecy concerning the faith of God but sought after signs and wonders as if the kingdom of God came by observation and not faith the unseen eternal.

I have also looked into this research of people speaking in tongues. It is a bit interesting. I think you do raise so good points and questions. What really counts is not whether or not one speaks in tongues, but love. Speaking in tongues is not so much proof of the filling of the Holy Spirit, in my opinion, as is the fruit of the Spirit evident in the life of the one who trusts in Jesus. The fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. ( Galatians 5:22-23)

Where in the Bible do you find that test? My Bible says the test is edification and communing with God.

If you apply human tests to Godly commands you will always be disappointed.

you understand nothing of what we are speaking of here

and you just proved it again

you are not saved and it does not matter what you believe. you have hung around the forums long enough to know that there is one name under heaven whereby you might be saved

all you do here, is attempt to negate faith in Christ

Look, modern tongues are what they are; an entirely self created phenomenon. I'm not speaking about the 'tongues experience' here - just the phenomenon of tongues itself.

I am not negating faith - just pointing out that modern 'tongues' are not what its speakers claim or would like them to be. The 'experience' when using this spiritual tool is real; no arguments there. but the actual 'tongues' themselves are self-created.

As one internet writer (and former 'tongues speaker") put it rather bluntly: “You want this to be real. You’ve convinced yourself it’s real. You need this to be real. You’re improvising the sounds, but there is nothing about what you’re doing that cannot be explained in natural terms. The only reason it sounds like a language is that you want it to sound like a language. But it’s not. It’s meaningless.”

When anyone shares he or she has a gift of the Holy Spirit in the forum, it glorifies God.

Anyone thinking he or she is capable of uncovering a fgaud from an Internet forum I suspect being of the enemy.

Accept and believe anyone who shares anything that glorifies God.

The varied gifts of tongues are well explained in the Word. I believe God, not scoffers, so if it gives glory to the Father, do not jump into the pool of condemnation……..not love, not ata all.

I see nothing above from the Word. I believe God through RickyZ when he repeats we are not to forbid the speaking in tongues…..

God does not change. He is not modern, nope, He is truth from the beginning now and forever.

Honestly I don't blame people for such opinions. satan to goes to incredible lengths to sow outrageous falsehoods. But that there should be a sign, if tongues were dead then they would be dead. But since they live, they must be fought. And fight that liar does!

You have shown that you don't track individual threads of dialogue within the larger conversation. You ignore blatant examples that utterly refute your assertions. You think everything related to tongues can be reduced to your interpretation of Isaiah 28. You repeat errors that have been shown wrong several times.

That's "closed-minded" if I ever saw it.

look

you are simply not a Christian

I would be surprised if you did anything other than argue

your finite mind cannot comprehend God and you desire to quash what you personally are not able to comprehend

nothing new there

the actual arguments you present are self-created by your denial of scripture, which you cannot agree with because you are a carnal man and do not understand what the Bible means when it says 'spiritually comprehended'

I bet you can understand that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God though

you are a sinner in unbelief and will remain so until you humble yourself before your Creator

when studying scripture, opinions are not what counts

lets' face it

we don't see very much of the fruits of the spirit and love is thrown around because it's an easy word and sounds so....nice

love is not quashing the gifts of the Spirit of God and love is not denying the power of God and love is not trying to smooth over disagreements and pretending they are not significant

human research is not ever going to qualify what the is revealed by the Holy Spirit
