Posthuman this is a good passage that shows why I believe what I believe, I know you read the word, really consider what it says:

Psalms 105:6-10, “O seed of Aḇraham His servant, Children of Ya‛aqoḇ, His chosen ones! He is יהוה our Strength; His right-rulings are in all the earth. He has remembered His covenant forever, The Word He commanded, for a thousand generations, The covenant He made with Abraham, And His oath to Yitsḥaq, And established it to Ya‛aqoḇ for a law, To Yisra’yl – an everlasting covenant.”

check this out:

Psalms 105:6-10, “O seed of Aḇraham His servant, Children of Ya‛aqoḇ, His chosen ones! He is יהוה our Strength; His right-rulings are in all the earth.

He has remembered His covenant forever, The Word He commanded, for a thousand generations,

The covenant He made with Abraham,

And His oath to Yitsḥaq,

And established it to Ya‛aqoḇ for a law,

To Yisra’yl – an everlasting covenant.”

Now consider PS 89 and these:

Psalm 111:5-9, “He has given food to those who fear Him; He remembers His covenant forever. He has shown His people the power of His works, To give to them the inheritance of the nations. The works of His hands are truth and right-ruling, All His orders are trustworthy, They are upheld forever and ever, Performed in truth and straightness. He sent redemption to His people, He has commanded His covenant forever. Set-apart and awesome is His Name.”

Jeremiah 31:31-34, “See, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when I shall make a renewed covenant with the house of Yisra’ĕl and with the house of Yehuḏah, (Heb 8:8-12, Heb 10:16-17) not like the covenant I made with their fathers in the day when I strengthened their hand to bring them out of the land of Mitsrayim, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them,” declares יהוה. For this is the covenant I shall make with the house of Yisra’ĕl after those days, declares יהוה: I shall put My Torah in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts. And I shall be their Strength, and they shall be My people. And no longer shall they teach, each one his neighbor, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know יהוה,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares יהוה. “For I shall forgive their crookedness, and remember their sin no more.”

“not like the covenant I made with their fathers”

Hebrews 7:11-17, “Truly, then, if perfection were through the Lĕwitical priesthood – for under it the people were given the Torah – why was there still need for another priest to arise according to the order of Malkitseḏeq, and not be called according to the order of Aharon? For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also. Footnote: bFrom Malkitseḏeq to Aharon. For He of whom this is said belongs to another tribe, from which no one had attended at the slaughter-place.c Footnote: cSee “Altar” in the Explanatory Notes. For it is perfectly clear that our Master arose from Yehuḏah, a tribe about which Mosheh never spoke of concerning priesthood, and this is clearer still, if another priest arises in the likeness of Malkitseḏeq, who has become, not according to the torah of fleshly command, but according to the power of an endless life, for He does witness, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Malkitseḏeq.”

The new testament clearly has two laws. It must or it would contradict itself.
Deu 4:13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.
14 And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.
Deu 31:24 And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,
25 That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,
26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Paul was either mad or there are at least two laws. One which is nailed to the cross and another one which is good.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Which law was against us?

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

Paul must be talking about two different laws.

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

One law was against us, and one is spiritual. One is present one was past.

Eph 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

Eph 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

Eph 6:3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Please explain how the 10 commandments are nailed to the cross and are against us?....
The law that was introduced because of sin was to point people to the cross and was no longer needed once the sacrifice had come.

Gal 3:17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

Gal 3:18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

Gal 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

The ceremonial laws that are against us was added because of sin or the breaking of the moral law. (430 years after promise)

Gal 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Gal 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

The moral law is eternal and right and good and spiritual. The laws of types and shadows were added after sin and were a schoolmaster pointing to Jesus.

How long? - Till the seed should come, Jesus has come so what has been changed? Which law is nailed to the cross? What ended at the cross?

Not the Moral 10 commandments.

Can you see how the laws that were a shadow of, or a type of, the sacrifice and gospel that Jesus would give, has no point today because we have Jesus, and they are therefore nailed to the cross.

But the sabbath was given before there was a Jew and before a savior was needed.

There are two meanings for "Sabbath". One is the seventh-day rest, instituted by God at the end of the creation week. This was reinforced in Exodus 20 as a commandment for Israel. They were to rest from all labour.

The other meaning is the eternal rest, into which we enter by trusting in Jesus Christ for salvation. We rest from all effort at attaining our salvation by works.
There is a third kind of Sabbath. For example Passover Week has a Sabbath the first and last day of the week. It was Passover week that Jesus was crucified. The Sabbath was the last Sabbath of Passover. Not understanding this people get confused about the grave being empty on the first day of week. For Jesus to be in the ground for three nights and days that meant he rose on the afternoon of the weekly Sabbath. That meant he was buried on a Wednesday afternoon. That made the last Passover Sabbath on a Thursday.

I was confused buried on Friday afternoon and rising on Saturday afternoon being 3 nights and days until I discovered about annual Sabbaths and Passover starting and ending with a Sabbath.

You lack understanding about what constitutes the law. In the Torah there are laws scattered through it. Maimonides went through the Torah and listed 613 of them. Here they are. These are in addition to the 10 commandments.

It was New when He gave it to Abraham, right? And from the Mount to the Children of Israel?
Genesis 14:18-20, “And Malkitsyḏeq sovereign of Shalym brought out bread and wine. Now he was the priest of the Most High Strength. And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Aḇram of the Most High Strength, Possessor of the heavens and earth. And blessed be the Most High Strength who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tenth of all.”

Psalm 89:26-37, “He will call out to Me; ‘You are My Father, O YHWH! You are the Rock of My salvation!’ And I will make Him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy I will keep for Him forever and My covenant will stand fast with Him. And I will establish His Seed forever, and His throne will be as the days of heaven. Should His children forsake My Law, and refuse to walk in My judgments; Should they profane My statutes, and fail to keep My commandments; Then I will punish their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with lashes from the whip. Nevertheless, My lovingkindness I will not utterly withdraw from Him, nor will I ever betray My faithfulness. My covenant I will not break, nor will I change what has gone out of My lips. Once for all, I have vowed by My holiness, I cannot lie, and I say to David; His Seed will endure forever, and his throne will endure before Me like the sun. His throne will be established forever like the moon: the faithful witness in the sky.”

Matthew 26:26-29, “And as they were eating, יהושע took bread, and having blessed, broke and gave it to the taught ones and said, “Take, eat, this is My body. And taking the cup, and giving thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood, that of the renewed covenant, which is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins. But I say to you, I shall certainly not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on till that day when I drink it anew with you in the reign of My Father.

Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer

All ceremonial laws were given to HELP. So you have this completely BACKWARDS.

Because what you call a "moral" law (incorrectly) is what is broken continually by carnal people.

The 10 commandments are a spiritual law and not a moral law. This is an important distinction because people can't keep the 10 commandments by deciding to be moral. The only way the 10 commandments are kept is by dying to your work at the 10 commandments and resting in Christ and His Work at causing a you to become spiritual.

When the Lord Jesus Christ says come to me and I will give you rest you think He meant rest from ceremonies? That is such a sad theology. You have the Lord saving bulls and goats and not people. People are still under Death and Condemnation of the 10 commandments (your "moral" law) according to you, with no hope of escape not even with the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

Maybe you haven't thought this all the way through???

Good post!
It is the ministration that has changed. It is still a matter of obedience but now it stems from Faith. No longer is the ministration that of ink and tables of stone but of the fleshly tables of the heart.
So Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ (the Word; GOD'S Law) down from above) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ (the Word; GOD'S Law) again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word (Christ; the New Covenant through which the Law is written in our hearts and in our minds) is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; For Christ (the Word in our hearts and in our minds is the end of the Law (written with ink and on Tables of Stone) for righteousness to all that belief. For this Faith establishes the Law.
(Rom 10:6-8 KJV)
Romans 10:4-5
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

Christ is the END of the law for righteousness for every one that believes. This is contrasted with the righteousness which is of the law, which is your own work and "OBEDIENCE" to that law.

Romans 10:8-10
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

See that? Faith is about the Lord Jesus Christ and NOT about going back to your work at the law.

But the good thing about having faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is that the Fruit that He grows in our lives IS obedience. Not something we strive and work at but something that is given as a gift.

I find it strange the lengths people will go to excuse their work at their favorite OT commands while still professing Christ and His Righteousness and Salvation.

I would have absolutely NO problems with people observing OT festivals and sabbaths if they just said they did it because they like it and not make a whole (incorrect) theology over it.

I figured people did it because they didn't know any better. But then these blind guides attempt to actually teach others...Not knowing what they say or what they affirm.

Neither I nor anyone whom I know who believes Jesus Christ is under the law.

Yet, we all know the law is not destroyed because Jesus teaches it is not, but He is fulfilling it in us all.

Therefor we do our best to obey the law still even though we are only saved by grace, His merciful sacrifice on the cross.

I have no need to read teh law nor to quote it to others in order to prove any point of the Word for Jesus has delineated all on how the law is to be approached by all who believe Him, yet so many run to the Old Testament in order to prove points about what we should obey without showing reference to our Teach on this simple subject.

Either a saved individual ultimately learns from Jesus Christ or he does not........the latter is in darkness and should not be heeded when "explaing" fleshly understanding..

I know the Sabbath of the Lord is a gift from the Father just for me and for all who can receive it.

Here is a thought to consider, Abraham and the Hebrews were given the Gospel of Jesus Christ before teh law, so who named the two parts of the Bible the Old and the New Testament? And why, if the Gosple predates any law?

The New Wsitness of Christ's Blood for all who have received Him is the New Testament. I believe this witness is witness to the Gospel given Abraham, the Children of Israel, and finally to all who believe His Testament of Blood...........I see the difference, thank you.

Matthew 5 AMPC
17 Do not think that I have come to do away with or undo the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to do away with or undo but to complete and fulfill them.
18 For truly I tell you, until the sky and earth pass away and perish, not one smallest letter nor one little hook [identifying certain Hebrew letters] will pass from the Law until all things [it foreshadows] are accomplished.
19 Whoever then breaks or does away with or relaxes one of the least [important] of these commandments and teaches men so shall be called least [important] in the kingdom of heaven, but he who practices them and teaches others to do so shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

In addition to the 10 commandments there are the laws scattered through the Torah.

If the Holy SPirit is to remind us of the MEssiah words why do we need the Gospels?
because how will we believe if we do not hear? the Spirit reminded the apostles of all that Christ had told them, but we didn't walk with Him and hear these things.
that is not what i am asking. i am asking if it makes sense that someone has to teach & command a person to obey the letter of a written law in addition to what the heart condemns and approves, if the law that truly matters is actually written in the heart? would that imply that the additional things that a person feels need to be taught or superfluous, or would it imply that the law isn't actually written in the heart after all? so that it would be useless to add commandments, because there is no actual redemption in the heart in the first place - and we know physical obeisance cannot make anyone righteous.

You will have to explain what you mean here Im not getting what you are implying
Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: “The person who does these things will live by them.” But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’”
(Romans 10:5-6)

the scripture speaks of the covenant made at Horeb as entirely different than the covenant made through the cross and resurrection of Christ. a righteousness by works, a righteousness by faith. do these and you will have life, believe this and you will have life. keep these commands and you will live, keep this belief and you will live.

if the covenant of His blood is the renewal of the covenant of Sinai then wouldn't you expect that God would be speaking of them as though they are the same rather than speaking of them as though they are different?

why would He declare this:

It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt

if what He *meant to say* was 'it will be the same covenant all I will do is replace the blood of bulls with my own blood' ?

what i am asking is how is text like this compatible with the notion - by playing with words - that He has not made anything *new* He has only re-instated a slightly altered version of the Mosaic covenant:

Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it.
(2 Corinthians 3:10)

how does a covenant surpass its own glory with its own glory by coming to have no glory at all because its own glory is greater than its own?

Fourth Commandment: Luke 4:16; Acts 13:14-44; Acts 16:13; Acts 17:2; Acts 18:4; Hebrews 4:4-9.

  • So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. Luke 4:16

Does this mean the Church needs to go to a synagogue where Christ is rejected as Messiah, and read on the Sabbath?

  • But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down. And after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Men and brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.” Acts 13:14-15

Does this mean the Church needs to go to a synagogue where Christ is rejected as Messiah, and read on the Sabbath?

  • And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there. Acts 16:13

Does this mean the Church needs to go to a river, where prayer was customarily made and speak to people there?

Could you share some scriptures from Jesus or the Apostles that instruct the Church as to how we are to observe the Sabbath, under the New Covenant?

342 anakaínōsis (from 303 /aná, "up, completing a process," which intensifies kainō, "make fresh, new"; see 2537 /kainós) – properly, a new development; a renewal, achieved by God's power.

this is the word in Romans 12:2 and Titus 3:5

it's not simply '
kainós'

JPT
what about this:

"When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.
Someone in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” Then He said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.
And He told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’
Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” ’
But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.
Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you — you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
(Luke 12:11-34)
Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the sabbath, there will be none.

"When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”Someone in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” Then He said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”And He told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. do not worry for yourself, or work for yourself, for earthly things, but trust in & work for the heavenly things, for God.
:)

when the sabbath was first commanded in Exodus it was concerning manna. the manna was given from heaven every day but one, and when you woke up that morning, the manna sufficient for that day was already stored up - having been given from heaven the day before. that morning, you should not fear, nor worry, nor be concerned that you should work to sustain yourself: the LORD had already provided what is sufficient for the day.

does it make a small bit of sense now, i hope, why i am looking at this and saying it relates to the sign given to Israel in the wilderness?
