Titus 1:16

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate

Jesus didn't say that. Show us where Jesus said works saves. One must do works in order to be saved. Show that decree coming from Jesus himself.

Paul was writing letters to direct, to manage, the churches he founded. Compelling them to do good works in order to demonstrate the saving grace of Christ as active in the new creature.
Jesus never said you have to do works to be saved. Because if you didn't do works after salvation you'd be damned again by that logic. And that just isn't so.

Just like the false teaching that says salvation is not eternal. When salvation is by the grace of God that's it. But those who argue against eternal life, eternal salvation, claim people can do something to lose their salvation. Well, if they could do something to lose salvation they could then do something to gain it. Which puts God's grace out of the picture and man's elective action to obtain grace through their own efforts, front and center.

Heb 5:9; Mt 7:21 among many, many more verses teach one must obey to be saved. Doing nothing saves no one.

How about Matthew 25:31-46;

Matthew 25:31-46
[SUP]31 [/SUP]When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
[SUP]32 [/SUP]And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
[SUP]33 [/SUP]And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
[SUP]34 [/SUP]Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
[SUP]35 [/SUP]For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
[SUP]36 [/SUP]Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
[SUP]37 [/SUP]Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
[SUP]38 [/SUP]When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
[SUP]39 [/SUP]Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
[SUP]40 [/SUP]And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
[SUP]41 [/SUP]Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
[SUP]42 [/SUP]For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
[SUP]43 [/SUP]I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
[SUP]44 [/SUP]Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
[SUP]45 [/SUP]Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
[SUP]46 [/SUP]And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

This is the separation of the sheep from the goats at judgment. Both groups believe in Jesus as Lord, but only one gets eternal life the other gets eternal punishment.

Where in that text does it say Jesus gives eternal life, saves the sinner, only if they work for it?

And for those who cite Paul's letters, they clearly forget this:

Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--

The change took place in the spirit. The bible says that GOD is a SPIRIT.
After a person is saved then they are a new creation then as paul said they should renew their minds.
God promised us the gift of the Holy Spirit after repentance and baptism...we are created unto good works....what part of good works is homosexuality? If we are saved from sins it is obvious we ought not to sin....

It shows both groups being judged, one gets eternal life for doing good works ( helping others in need ).

The other gets sent to everlasting punishment in the fire for not doing good works ( not helping others in need ).

There is no book nor chapter to go along with the scripture you've pasted there. Much like someone else here who does the same kind of posting.Verses without book and chapter.

why do you use quotes from Pau's letters if you think they are lies?
Perfect scripture to show the false teachings of Paul and his agenda to deceive.

Christians either follow Jesus, who did not found Christianity, or they follow Paul, who manufactured what came to be called Christianity but was actually Paulianity. Those believers are Pauline. Not Christian. Jesus wasn't Christian. God isn't Christian. "They" were first called Christian in Antioch. This was long after Jesus had departed back to the Father.

Jesus warned against Paul. Paul fulfilled the warning Jesus made about him and others like him prior to returning to the father.
To follow Paul is to call Jesus a liar. It's simple as that.

There is not book or chapter ????

This comes straight from the bible.
The thing is that people don't like is the word works. They misuse the context of works and apply it to all works.

The truth is that those who use works to earn salvation, or use works to make them out to be better than others use it in the wrong way.

But works done out of love do follow a true believer, and even our Lord Jesus says on multiple times that He who does the Fathers will is His true sheep, and you will know the true sheep by the fruit they produce ( good works ).
He also says you must take up your cross and follow Him, and to observe all that He taught.

Works of love go hand and hand with salvation.

Nowhere does it say in scripture that mere belief only saves.

Believing in Jesus as our Lord and Savior also means to believe in what He said to, and He gave us multiple scriptures that says how we should walk as a believer and how we can not walk.

That's correct.

As in John 3:16. That includes a book, John, a chapter, 3, and a verse, 16. Everyone knows scripture comes from the book that is the Holy Bible.
Posting verses without book, as in one of the 66 contained within the Bible, and chapter, is just rude. No one is obligated to search out those references when a poster who has copied and pasted them willfully omits them.

There was another member who did the same exact thing. Omit the book and chapter while copying and pasting the scripture. They claimed Jesus quoted scripture, and that let readers to infer they imagined they were like Jesus. Not hardly.Further, it demonstrated profound ignorance about Jesus himself.
Jesus words are quoted by people today. His words created scripture! And when he referenced the Hebrew Bible he did so as part of his personal ministry.
Wolves in sheep's clothing don't contribute to a decent dialog within the body church of the faithful. But they do reiterate the words of Christ that forewarned against them.

The discussion we were having was about Matthew 25, so I didn't think I had to repost the book and chapter again since I already did previously. But if you have to have the actual book and chapter every time then here;

Matthew 25: 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

How can one dialogue with you when it is obvious you don't know the word and you are not willing to find out for yourself...

Acts 17:10-12King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]10 [/SUP]And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

[SUP]12 [/SUP]Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

Given how many members participate in any given thread, and context is often cited among those who disagree with someones scriptural post, yes, it helps to include the book and chapter when posting scripture anew. Just to keep things in sync.
Because when you posted the scripture only after I posted a verse from another book, it made it appear as if you were entering verses now from that particular book that I posted.
I hope that helps you understand .

Now, per your reference to those scriptures in Matthew and your contention people burn in Hell for not doing good works, you're wrong in your understanding of context and scripture there. Jesus has said no one snatches anyone from his hand that the father has given him.
God's grace saves souls and no one revokes that grace therefore salvation is eternal. That is a fact of God.
Your contention of scripture and how you interpret it makes God's grace revocable. And again, if people can do works to get saved, Jesus wouldn't have had to die on the cross so as to take the sins of the world upon himself and fulfill his mission here that God appointed. Giving his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall have eternal life.
Instead, per your contention, all people have to do is do good works, and keep doing good works in the name of Christ and they're in.

Nothing in scripture says that.
If it were true, lazy people would burn in Hell.

This is a commentary related to the scripture in Matthew and that attests to that fact:

(Sic)"...We are not to suppose that acts of bounty will entitle to eternal happiness. Good works done for God's sake, through Jesus Christ, are here noticed as marking the character of believers made holy by the Spirit of Christ, and as the effects of grace bestowed on those who do them. The wicked in this world were often called to come to Christ for life and rest, but they turned from his calls; and justly are those bid to depart from Christ, that would not come to him. Condemned sinners will in vain offer excuses. The punishment of the wicked will be an everlasting punishment; their state cannot be altered. Thus life and death, good and evil, the blessing and the curse, are set before us, that we may choose our way, and as our way so shall our end be.

Scripture says that what issues from the mouth of a man is what is in his heart. To degrade the grace of God and His infinite love with the reasoning that salvation could or would ever be revoked once given should cause great concern. Legalism and a passion to judge others is not coming from a heart flooded with Gods grace. The word of God is a two-edged sword not a club with which we bludgeon sinners and saints alike. God through His Holy Spirit takes the sword and pierces even to the dividing asunder of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Men are not able to exercise the sword with such precision.

Make sure of your own salvation and live so that others will see Christ in you. The rest will fall into place. Souls will be drawn to Christ when we live and speak as ones who truly know and walk with Him.

For the cause of Christ

One can't say faith without works is impossible, without throwing out people converted and dying before they could do any works, and, of course, works don't save. That said, though, we all know faith without works is dead (James 2). Some other verses to consider,

Matthew 12:8-9 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Luke 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

The subject here was false prophets, but I believe we can all see this applies to the fruits of any man,

Matthew 7:16-19 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

John 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

1 John 5:17-18 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Titus 1:15-16 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Matthew 25:24-30 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

There are so many more verses, but the conclusion? A person who does not practice righteousness and obedience, clearly, is not being led by the Holy Spirit. There is no lip service faith, no "easy believism," God is not mocked. You see a person void of the fruits of repentance from dead works and faith, still displaying the traits of the old man, dead in sin, who has no good works, somebody people probably wouldn't even know was a Christian, there is no evidence that person is saved. Can one call Jesus Lord, and live in disobedience to one's Lord?

So, generally speaking, it's not possible to be saved absent any evidence a person is a new man, born again of the Holy Spirit, in their behavior, in how they conduct their lives, in their works. I've long most feared hell is going to be filled with mega-church "easy believism," the cheap grace that only tickled the ears of the so-called "carnal Christian."

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Thus life and death, good and evil, the blessing and the curse, are set before us, that we may choose our way, and as our way so shall our end be.
That is not a misunderstanding in scripture.

Jesus says in Matthew 10:33;[h=2]But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.[/h]Then Titus tells us a way we can deny the Lord our God;

Titus 1:16

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate

Now if you take these two scriptures together, and look at Matthew 25:31-46 we will see that they coincide with each other for the ones who believe and good works followed ( helping others in need ) were given eternal life.

And the ones who believed but just had mere belief, and the good works did not follow were sent to eternal punishment.

If you believe that people do not burn in hell for not producing good fruit/works then you miss the scriptures I give.
Matthew 25:41 says they are sent to the everlasting fire, and Matthew 25:46 says everlasting punishment. Nobody is punished in Heaven.

In Matthew 25 it does not say they are sent to fire for nonbelief, it says in Matthew 25:42-43 they are sent for not feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, not visiting those in prison, clothing the naked, and taking in strangers.

Why was this? Because Matthew 25:45 tells us that if you do not do for others, it is the same as not doing for the Lord.

In other words you deny the Lord by your works, because you do not do for others.

Denying the Lord is more than just unbelief.

Would add that I believe the warning against "easy believism" is the most crucial message of our times to get across to those claiming Christianity.
