You know it sounds like there are a lot of jehovah witnesses on here. PLEASE DON'T CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAY IT TAKES THE FOCUS AWAY FROM JEHOVAH, AND PLEASE PLEASE DON'T CELEBRATE JESUS BIRTHDAY NO MATTER WHAT DAY IT IS CAUSE IT TAKES AWAY THE FOCUS FROM? I've had a Christmas tree in my house since I was born and before that and the Lord Jesus has blessed our family greatly throughout the years. And it is biblical, for if the birth and celebration of Jesus wasn't anything to memorialize the three wise men wouldn't be in the bible and neither would the gifts they brought. It's all about the Fathers love sending Jesus the Christ as a Gift and is it not for us to do like wise and give gifts of charity at drop off points like the food pantry and good will stores and to give to those in need and is it not right to teach our own in our own house to give gifts to one another also to learn to be charitable and what better place then to start under a Christmas tree all decorated to set the mood of Piece Love and Joy. You people are so into the old testament laws you are the ones that left out God in the picture. It says what ever you do, do all for the Glory of God and that means even finding the best tree and the best decorations to celebrate Jesus. Your religion is morbid, mine is alive.
I am not a witness but did Jesus command that we celebrate his birthday ? could you find that in the bible

Regarding Christian symbols:

I researched some of the symbols, and this is what I found as reasons Christians use the symbols at Christmastime.

Christmas tree -A 7th century saint used the fir tree to teach the triune God by using the three tree point.
Star - represents the north star followed by the shepherds
Gifts - given in remembrance of the gifts brought to Jesus by the wise men
Santa Claus - based on 3rd century St. Nicholas, who was generous to the poor for the sake of Christ

That's what is in my heart...not idolatry!

Regarding the date of Christmas - The birth of Christ was carefully calculated based on the information the Bible gives. The Bible does not say the day Jesus was born, but John the Baptist's birth can be calculated based on his father's time of duty in the temple. The Bible indicates an amount of time after John was conceived that Mary conceived Jesus. This calculation leads a couple of possibilities: either a December birth or a fall birth. Since the first century, the church has agreed Christ was born in late December. This is a full three centuries before the claim is made that Christian leaders proclaimed December 25th as the official celebration day, which may have been an intelligent strategy to override a pagan holiday. You can read about the calculation here: Christmas - Was Jesus born on December 25th?

I celebrate the birth of the Messiah on a date near or on the best calculation based on Scripture along with the rest of the world. I know what is in my heart and that is a great love for a man with the nature of God in Him and nothing could keep me from it!

it would only be a sin if people were practicing paganism. They are not. They are glorifying God, and God uses them to bring many people to him. All things are possible with Christ, If he can use it, Why stop him? Just another way to alientate ourselves. Thank God Christ showed us the true way, He went to the sinners. And stayed away from the self righteous judges..

Can one glorify God in vain ?

Matthew 7
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

[SUP]18 [/SUP]A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

[SUP]21 [/SUP]Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
[SUP]23 [/SUP]And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Dear eternally-gratefull

please note i am not calling you a false prophet . i am saying not beacause something is used to glorify God means it is right hmmm

look at the Roman catholic , They have idols and some say that they are not worshipping idols but Jesus ,. The idols are just there to remind them . I see christmas as the same thing to glorify God but not in spirit and in truth . So it is wrong .

What Holidays?

The only think he told us to keep is communion, and assembling together.

He did not set up any holidays.

I don't know that it's so much the holiday that brings people to Him, but more likely it's His Spirit. So this could be true of anything in this world. It doesn't mean it's Biblical, though. Which is one of my concerns. We are never told by God or the disciples to celebrate Christmas.

And I wonder e-g, if many in here would hold the same standard and respect you just made about Christmas, to all of the Biblical Feast Days?
Matt 2:10 When they saw the star, THEY REJOICED EXCEEDINGLY WITH GREAT JOY. 11After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, THEY PRESENTED TO HIM GIFTS of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.… Sure sounds like celebrating to me but what do I know saposedly I'm a pagan.

Luke 1:39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; 40And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. 41And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: 42And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.43And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ear,THE BABE LEAPED IN MY WOMB FOR JOY . 45And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Even the babe still in the womb celebrated the birth of Christ. You people don't understand nor even read your bible.

Jesus didn't command me to be an over the road truck driver in His Word was that wrong too? You talk so childish.

You will find many words of Celebration in the OT in the book of Psalms about the Lord. You gonna call that wrong too?

One of the most monumental events in history, to be sure. But where is the instruction to celebrate it?

Changing the subject of the Christmas tree to things or days is just your way of admitting you are wrong but not man enough to say it in it's proper terms.

if you have looked at the verbiage correctly she stated that she does not "look" or intend to disobey. This statement does not claim as someone coming off as self righteous ,but instead someone who is willing to walk in the ways of righteousness. What is wrong with that? She we not all try to walk in righteousness instead we want to knock someone down who is trying to. because of the fall of Adam, we are all born in sin which is why we need the law. But because fulfilled the sacrifice of atonement or forgiveness,we now have the opportunity to put on our new garment we should ask for forgiveness and walk righteously by walking in the spirit instead of the flesh which is the old person. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Gal 5:16.

Did Jesus ever command that we don't celebrate His birthday?
We've got to be careful with that line of thinking. If God didn't command that I don't do something, am I allowed to do it?

Can I go train pit bulls for dog fighting and make money on it? (and just to make it more spiritual, I'll give the proceeds to the needy.)

[FONT=Trebuchet, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]2 Tim 3:[/FONT]15and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
