the 10 was never given to man until Sinai. and it proven in the Bible very obvious.
yes i agree the law that define sin has always been there, but it wasn't given to man Not until Sinai.
Scripture says where there is no law there is no sin Rom 4:15

God said it was sin for Cain to murder Abel and thou shalt not murder is only found in the Ten Commandments. The Israelites were already keeping the Sabbath prior to Mt Sinai so Gods law started way before Mt Sinai Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man and man was created on the 6th before the first Sabbath. Exo 20:11

The Ten Commandments was written down by God on stone and spoken to the whole nation of Israel but started way before. The law that was added was the sacrificial system until Jesus Heb 9:9-17 Heb 10:1-22 etc

The word your looking for is "codified".

Which means to arrange (laws or rules) into a systematic code.

The law including the 10 commandments was a codified legal system.

Mt Sinai was where the codified law was given to Israel.

Israel was then in covenant to obey that codified law.

There is no historical record of the Mosaic law ever being given to any other nation.

Sin is rejecting Jesus and that is the greatest sin that can be committed.

Sin is also walking by the deeds of the flesh.

Sin is the good you know you should be doing but don't do it.

Serious sin is heresy, blasphemy, abusing widows and orphans.

Evidence, you need evidence of sabbath compliance before Mt Sinai.

I have evidence that the law given to Noah excluded a sabbath command.

I need to proof read more often, thanks.
No worries. And you are welcome. Sometimes I miss an error I have made even after
proof reading multiple times. Of course then I notice it well after the fact of the edit
window having closed LOL. Also Hamburger Hill was a different battle and movie...

Did you know there is more than one Sabbath in the scripture. The context is in verse 14 that no one ever quotes for some strange reason.

Col 2:14 having wiped out the [a]handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

The weekly Sabbath started at Creation, so impossible to be a shadow of anything, because it started when God made everything perfect. There is no food or drink offerings in the Sabbath commandment, its referring to the sabbath(s) that are in ordinances handwritten by Moses that was contrary and against. Read Deut 31:24-26 which is what this verse is pointing to and Heb 9:9-10 and Hebrews 10:1-22 which is about the annual feast days, that some were annual sabbath(s) handwritten by Moses, placed OUTSIDE the ark as a witness against. The Sabbath is a commandment of God, written by the finger of God and is holy and blessed by God, it does not fit the context but sadly people don't care hence the stern warning 2 Peter 3:16. God blessed man cannot reverse Num 23:20 so one would need a thus saith the Lord and all the thus saith the Lords Jesus told us to live by tell us to keep and not profane.

Its not even what Paul taught and he faithfully kept every Sabbath decades after the Cross and instead of pointing the Gentiles to day 1 worship, when they asked to hear the same gospel the next Sabbath, because the Sabbath never changed for God's faithful.

Acts 13:42 [n]So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath

Acts 13: 44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God

Acts 18: 4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks.
Yes I do know there are several sabbaths and I also know what it says there

“having wiped out the [a]handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”

“And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, that Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying, Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:24-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“having wiped out the [a]handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”

“These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭29:1‬ ‭

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.

And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water.

And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭34:27-28‬ ‭

“And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai.

And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face.

But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out.

And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭34:32-34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You’re reading the wrong law annd trying tonindersrsnd what’s important to God . instead of how Moses taught them then to worship God and live right . Look at the gospel and what Jesus said about how to live right before God the father and worship him and believe the promises he offers to live forever. To be set free by truth to find rest for your souls

Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: and not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament;

which vail is done away in Christ.

But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:12-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

One last thing regarding the sabbath day

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what happened was eventually

“The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: ….

The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭24:5-6, 20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and then

“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth:

and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭65:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we have a new covenant word to look to and a new world that we’re promised is all I’m saying we don’t bring in the old and try to fit it into the new. Jesus was speaking to people that were living under Moses law until he died to “ nail it to the cross “ that’s when all the things like that the requirements of Moses law which God had given to him and spoken to the children of Israel making a specific covenant with them .

Based on promises to Jacob who was named israel and whose sons became the tribes of the children of Israel . That they would be the ruling kingdom of this earth and Jerusalem would be its capitol where Gods spirit would dwell. But they defiles and broke his covenant and instead inherited all of the curses written in the law as warnings.

God is merciful and loves Israel and all mankind deeply so he made a promise tbat he would make a new covenant with them that wasn’t the one he made at Sinai

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

jesus took tbe law of Moses requirements ( not it’s wisdom for learning but it’s requirements for a relationship with God , away just as he took away the requirement of the circumcision of the law. And made a new one in tbe new covenant

oir sabbath is when we fully come to trust and rest in Christ and his word that’s where the rest is actually found from our labors

that being said my friend it’s in no way erroneous or wrong for you to keep the sabbath and believe you need to that’s perfectly fine and nothing wrong at all .

To press it as a requirement for anyone else , this is my only point of contention with what you have said

yes NC establishes on better Promises by a "New Way" of the Spirit. Not the old way of the letter.

God have never changed His Law. the 10 commandments was added later to Scripture, 430 yrs later after the covenant with Abraham Gal 3:17
Amen

“who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:”

Different covenants. God writing is not the same as Moses writing. One is supernatural, the other the creation

God writing on stone with His own finger, that was placed inside the ark of the covenant that is perfect for converting the soul Psa 19:7

Deut 4:13 13 So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.

Exo 34:28 So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the [a]Ten Commandments.

Exo 31:18 18 And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

Is not the same as Moses handwriting placed outside the ark of the covenant as a witness for breaking what was inside the ark, the Ten Commandments

Deut 31:24 So it was, when Moses had completed writing the words of this law in a book, when they were finished, 25 that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying: 26 “Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there as a witness against you

Two different agreements that serve totally different purposes. The book contained all the ordinances that were handwritten by Moses on a book that was there as a witness against, contrary and against the context of Col 2:14

God blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy, that is not the definition of contrary or against, Was written by the finger of God, not handwritten and is a commandment, thus saith the Lord.

If one chooses to ignore the context, thats their free will, but Paul a servant of Christ does not have the authority to understand God. No one does- hence why his writings came with a warning for a good reason.

Guess all will get sorted out soon enough

God made the Sabbath at Creation Exo 20:11 Gen 2:1-3 when everything was good, good and very good, it was His perfect plan before sin, so no need to change anything and God didn’t. He blessed the seventh day sanctified it and made it holy, how does one come to the conclusion it’s contrary and against. Sad man tries to use Paul writings to take away something God made perfect at Creation to serve their own purpose. Once God blesses, man cannot reverse Num 23:20, not even Paul who is a servant of Christ and would never countermand God’s perfect plan of Creation hence why he didn’t and also kept every Sabbath in the same manner Christ did, as that is what a servant of Christ does, they follow Him and His example, not do something entirely different.

Guess we will all find out soon enough.

For those interested into taking a deeper dive into 2 Cor 2:3.

SECTION 1: THE IMMEDIATE CONTEXT

In verses 1-3 we have an introduction to a new section which contains an allusion to the Ten Commandments and the New Covenant:

  • First, there were, apparently, “letters of recommendation” that ministers were caring at this time, possibly for the purpose of avoiding false teachers, but it seems like in Paul’s view, a true “letter of recommendation” was the changed lives of the people he ministered to which was evident outwardly (verses 1-2).
  • The reason for their change is because they have the New Covenant. Verse 3 is using New Covenant language (in fact we are sure of this, because verse 6 says “new covenant”). It says that they’re lives are letters written by the Spirit in the heart, and not by ink on “tablets of stone,” an allusion or quick hint to the Ten Commandments.
  • A good hermeneutical move is to always go to where the author is referring or alluding to, in order to better understand what he means. Paul is borrowing New Covenant language directly from the actual prophecy about the New Covenant in Jer. 31:30-33 (cf. Ezek. 36:26-27). In Jeremiah 31:33, we read that God will write His “laws” in their mind and hearts. Since Paul, while speaking about this New Covenant, alludes to the Ten Commandments (tablets of stone), the law in this prophecy is the Ten Commandments being written in another location, the mind and heart.
  • The New Covenant is, therefore, a total transformation of the heart, where sins are forgiven and forgotten, God’s Law is written in the heart by the Spirit, and people begin to actually live righteous lives (cf. Jer. 31:34, Ezek. 36:26-27). The Law can only be obeyed by the power of God’s Spirit.
  • Therefore, the lives of the Corinthian Christians are living manifestations of God’s law. It was not abolished for them (which Mr. Tucker repeatedly says). On the contrary, their lives manifest obedience to it.
  • This is the immediate context, and obviously what follows after this will not mean that the Ten Commandments was abolished for the Christian, since it is written in their hearts. The change was in location, from tablets of stone to “fleshy tables of the heart.”
  • QUESTION: However, if what follows will show that the Ten commandments were abolished for the Christian, why are they still playing a role in the lives of Christians? Provide examples. See: Eph. 6:1-3 (actually, the whole letter of Ephesians alludes to various commandments to not break them, see 4:25 28, 29, 31, 5:3-5, 6), Rom. 3:31, 7:7-12, especially verse 13).
SECTION 2: THE LETTER KILLS, THE MINISTRATION OF DEATH

  • In verse 4, Paul says that he is fully confident that they are living New Covenant lives which manifest obedience to the Ten Commandments from the heart rather than from tablets of stones (verses 2-3), because his trust is “through Christ toward God” and not in the work they did for them.
  • Nevertheless, God made Paul the minister of this New Covenant, not of the letter, which previously was on stone and ink, but of the Spirit, which is now the Law written in the heart (verse 6a).
  • The last clause of verse 6, and also verses 7 and 9 speak of the Law as something that kills, brings death and condemns. Why?
  • Paul does not here say how the Law kills, but he does in Romans 7:7-13. It kills by revealing the source of death, which is sin! Compared with Psalm 119:86-88:

“All Your commandments are faithful; They persecute me wrongfully; Help me! They almost made an end of me on earth, But I did not forsake Your precepts. Revive me according to Your lovingkindness, So that I may KEEP the testimony of Your mouth.” (Psa. 119:86-88. Note: Comparing the “commandments” here to Rom. 7:7, we learn that the specific laws that kill are the Ten Commandments, since Paul quotes from the tenth one to make his point).
  • Psalm 119:86-88 may be referring to David’s enemies as the persecutors, but the clauses of each sentence indicate that the Law has a special function of revealing sin, especially when we compare them to Romans 7:7-13, which also speak of the commandments as something that kills, yet continues to be desirable by Paul.
  • We learn from these references that: 1. The law kills in the sense that it reveals sin by pointing to our faults, and 2. This, however, should motivate us to obey it to be in harmony with it.
SECTION 3: TWO MINISTRATIONS: VERSE 9:

  • The ministration of RIGHTEOUSNESS
  • The ministration of CONDEMNATION
SECTION 4: WAS THE LAW ABOLISHED?

  • LET US ASSUME THE TEXT MEANS THE LAW WAS ABOLISHED AS WELL. Various problems arise:

ONE: The immediate context says it is written in the heart (verses 2-3, cf. Jer. 31:33).
TWO: In Rom. 7:13 Paul asks, “Has then what is good (the commandment, verse 12) made death unto me?” His answer is a resounding, “certainly not!.”
-No, because Paul also wrote that faith establishes, rather then abolishes, the law (Rom. 3:31).
-No, because David, speaking of the same law that kills, views that as a good thing, and asks God to help him even more to keep it! (cf. Psa. 119:86-88).
  • Compare verses 7 and 13 to Romans 3:21. Same Greek word: katargeo.
  • The same Greek word in verse 7 is used in verse 13. Both mention what the Israelites could NOT look upon
SECTION 5: WHAT, THAN, WAS ABOLISHED?

  • According to verses 7-13, the following things were abolished:

-The ministration under Moses which included the ministry under the Old Dispensation, including the tablets of stone and, by implication, the entire earthly Sanctuary service, to be replaced with the ministration of the Spirit, with fleshy tablets and, by implication, a heavenly Sanctuary (cf. Heb. 8:2).
-The face of Moses, his leadership, being replaced by the face of Christ, as the new High Priest.
  • The tablets would not be necessary when its contents are lived out in the lives of believers. Christians should not be trying to measure up to standards that have not convicted their minds and transformed their thoughts. God wants people to want to do right, and He does this by writing His moral principles in their hearts as He previously wrote them on stone. The stones are no longer needed when its principles are lived and obeyed. Once again, believers would NOT insist on abolishing the Law if they truly have it written in the heart.
CONCLUSION: The critic asked, “When was the law established?” but this time quotes 2 Corinthians 3. According to the document we are examining, the law “ended at the cross for believers.” However, that is not what 2 Cor. 3 teaches. On the contrary, this chapter reinforces the Ten Commandments in a better way, as principles that are now written in the heart, rather than stone, under the New Covenant for believers.

This is what we get from the immediate context. The first three verses demonstrate what the lives of New Covenant believers look like. They have the Law of God written in the heart, and it is quite evident. They are, as Paul puts it, living epistles, “known and read by all men.” Paul borrows language from the New Covenant in Jer. 31:33 and alludes to the Ten Commandments when he mentioned the “tablets of stones.” In other words, these Corinthians believers have the Ten Commandments written in their hearts, as promised in the New Covenant prophecy, and everyone can see it by their lives and acts. We know it is “ten” commandments, which includes the fourth, because the “tablets of stone” contained ten, not nine. Therefore, all Ten Commandments are written in their hearts, and as the other nine are practiced both spiritually and practically, so with the fourth one. Anyone living the New Covenant experience, therefore, will not be going around claiming that the Law “ended for believers.”

The conclusion drawn is that the first few verses speak about the Law written in the heart and lived out by the Corinthians believers, what follows after verse 3, therefore, does not abolish the Law. A careful look at the remaining verses reveal that indeed something was abolished, and that was the old ministration of the Law under Moses, along Moses himself and the tablets of stone. The contents of the Law, however, were transferred to the heart. A comparison with verse 13 with the actual story Paul is talking about, found in Exo. 34:29-35, reveals that what was abolished was that which “the children of Israel could NOT look steadily at…” In Exo. 34, the tablets of stone were in plain view in the hands of Moses, but his face was covered. Nevertheless, there is no longer a need for the stone tablets, not that its contents are in the mind and hearts of New Covenant believers.

Not only does the immediate context not allow for the contents of the tablets to be abolished, Paul says in Rom. 3:31 that the Law is NOT made “void” to believers. The Greek word translated “void” is the same one translated “abolished” or “passing away” in 2 Cor. 3.

2 Cor. 3 also explains that the tablets of stone are referred to as the “ministration of death” and “condemnation.” This is because, as Paul explains elsewhere, the Ten Commandments reveal sin, and sin brings death (see Rom. 7:7-11, cf. James. 1:15). Nevertheless, the commandment that does this is considered “holy, just and good” and that which is good does NOT become death to believers (see verses 12-13). Of course, because as 2 Cor. 3 says, it is written in the heart.

Romans 14 does not use the word "Sabbath" once. Its referring to opinions of man, what man esteems, not what God esteemed that is a commandment of God. The apostles were not lightly discussing whether they should or should not obey one of God's commandments, it was in reference to their own opinions. Much like today if we were discussing should we keep Christmas or Easter- not disobeying God and sinning. Paul's writings can be tricky and there is a reason the inspired Word of God said his writings came with a warning 2 Peter 3:16. They are not to be used to countermand God.
So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ”

There’s nothing tricky about Paul’s writings. Together they form a clear understanding of Christ.

Your comment (“Paul's writings can be tricky”) reminds me of certain thing someone else said at one time: “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

Anyone judging another because of sabbaths would have them take up a law that brings sin and death and makes slaves of its adherents.

Jesus was purposed from before the foundation of the world, and that predates God's Sabbath rest, which has always
pointed forward to the time when Christians could rest in the work Jesus has done on our behalf for our salvation.
It does not have to do with honouring a day, but a person. You cannot keep the law.
It would probably be best for you if you if stopped pretending you do.

Nevertheless, the commandment that does this is considered “holy, just and good”
Just like a crib that protects a baby is holy just and good. But when it delivers the baby to maturity, we do not put the adolescent back in the crib.

The law was the means for the Jews to come to Christ. Once delivered to Christ the law is no longer useful to your faith. Do not turn back to it, or, beyond reason, take it up even though it was never meant for you.

These things are elementary.

The context of verse 14 explains 2:16-17 since there are more than one sabbath in the Bible. Paul is referring to ordinances , handwritten that was contrary and against, that has to do with food and drink offerings, the context of this passage, that were shadows laws.

It would be impossible to be the Sabbath commandment that was finger-written by God and is holy and blessed by God , context doesn’t fit, sadly people don’t care. The Sabbath started at Creation when there was no need for a plan of salvation because He created everything was according to God’s perfect plan, shadow laws came after sin. Plus it countermands the teachings of Jesus Mat 24:20 Mat 5:19-30 Isa 66:23 etc and even Pauls did every Sabbath decades after the Cross Acts 13:42 Acts 13:44 Acts 18:4 etc.

The warning we are given about Pauls writings are pretty stern men twisting, as the do the rest of scripture, to their own destruction.

Jesus saying depart from me, those who practice lawlessness Mat 7:2123, sounds like destruction to me. Forgetting something God said Remember that he blessed and made holy seems like a bad idea to me, but God gives us free will.

The law that was a tutor was the sacrificial laws, not the Ten Commandments, that Jesus told us not to break or teach others to break the least of these commandments as one would be in fear of sin as it affects our status in heaven- i.e. Judgment. Mat 5:19-30

There will never be a time man doesn’t need God’s blessing and sanctification. Its when we think we no longer need it that we can sanctify ourselves, it becomes dangerous Isa 66:17

When someone can produce one verse where God said we no longer need to keep the Sabbath commandment. He blessed, only He can reverse. I have read the Bible cover to cover and yet to find this verse.

Sounds more like Seveventh-Day teachings are tricky. They make the Bible mean things it does not.

“..but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

Don’t “be holy” one day a week. Be holy every day. By this we prove God’s character, His laws, are written on our hearts. This is the promise for all who are in Christ.
