So when Jesus says in John 20:22 to His disciples to receive the Holy Spirit, what did the disciples need to do in order to receive it?
Good heavens man PLEASE do your own homework.

[Jhn 20:22 KJV]
And when he had said this, he breathed on [them], and saith unto them, Receive ye G2983 the Holy Ghost:

The KJV translates Strong's G2983 in the following manner: receive (133x), take (106x), have (3x), caught (3x), not translated (1x), miscellaneous (17x).

Outline of Biblical Usage
  1. to take
    1. to take with the hand, lay hold of, any person or thing in order to use it
      1. to take up a thing to be carried
      2. to take upon one's self

So they grabbed hold of the Holy Spirit, put Him on their backs, and fanned their arms so He would go inside them. Got it. Good talk.

You sound desperate and defeated.
Well, its not like I haven't tried to make you a winner, so don't blame the messenger.

Wow. A short sweet and on point post and the Calvinites REALLY go into orbit.

Do you know what is the big difference between you and me @Rufus ?
I do not need to EXHAUSTIVELY parse vicissitudes and drone on ENDLESSLY with pseudo-intellectual gibberish like you do.
Why? Why pray tell?

Because I "get it" man. I really do. I understand PERFECTLY well why:
"Men do not take credit for their salvation for the same reasons the Israelites in Egypt could not take credit for the Passover"

I mean I DO NOT need further commentary man. Like none. Zero.
I DO NOT need further astute analysis or even YOUR analysis.

Its just a done deal as far as I am concerned man.
Thats what it's like when you break out of the Calvinite dungeon BTW.
The theological air is oh so bright, crisp and clear up here in the sunshine. Aaaaahhhh....wonderfully refreshing.
As opposed to dark, dank and oppressive waaaaay down there in the pits.
In other words, folks, our helmet-head "bible scholar's" circular reasoning explains it all. No further explanation needed.

No problem. I've got a new messenger I grabbed onto, threw on my back, and flapped my arms so I would be a partaker of the divine nature.

Why are you avoiding the passage in Ephesians 2? And going out of your way not to have to deal with what is written, and the implications of it?

Verses 1-3 are clearly descriptive of unbelievers. And it clearly states in verse 5 that in this estate, God quickens them with Christ. Why is that so hard to admit?
Because you do not understand what Paul is talking about in Ephesians.

I had the same problem with you in Romans.

Your noticing key phrases and sentences in certain letters but missing, what Paul is actually saying.

Ephesians 2:11-12
Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by the
so-called Circumcision, which is performed in the flesh by human hands, remember that you were at that
time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of
promise
, having no hope and without God in the world.

This paragraph is a corporate letter directed to the Gentiles.

The Gentiles were not chosen, elect, set apart, for anything other than destruction.

What do you think "no hope" or "without God" means?

Don't ever forget this fact, Cameron, Paul says to remember you were dogs.

Tell me Cameron, does Ephesians have the identical corporate narration as Romans?

Is God giving the green light to the Gentiles now?

I don't think anyone would be talking about a Gentile being elect from eternity.

And it's precisely that "hardness of the heart" that makes "circumcision made without human hands" absolutely necessary. Just like a hard callous on a foot needs to be "cut" away, so it is with the human heart, as well.
Yeah now consider that when we yield to sin this is how our hearts get hardened

“Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, In the day of temptation in the wilderness:

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; while it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭3:7-8, 12-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

John 16:8-9

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

Matt 27:51
And behold, the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split.

John 12:32
32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

Luke 3:6
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’ ”

2 Cor 6:2
For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Acts 16:31~~~Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved....

Equal privilege, equal opportunity for ALL.
Deuteronomy 10:17
For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God
who does not show partiality nor take a bribe.

You are just like @Inquisitor. You don't deal with the passage and the clear meaning of it. You say...look over here. Nothing to see over there. The passage clearly shows that God gives life together with Christ to unbelievers. Regeneration proceeding faith.
You don't have to accept it, but to say the Bible doesn't say it is false.
Nice to see my name being mentioned.

Regeneration cannot precede that belief in Jesus Christ.
