No he didn't. He honored the law. He didn't tell them to follow it. The rich, young ruler was already following the law. Jesus told him to follow him, not the law.
Matthew 5:19

" Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoeverkeeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

How can we follow two Masters? Would we not hate the one and love the other?
If the Law is your master, then you've got a problem. You're right.

But Jesus is our master, and Jesus (as God) wrote the Law, and told His disciples to follow it.

Follow me Jesus said ? He did not say follow the law to get to me to get to the father ? In addition ? Addition to what? Jesus words need no addition my friend revelation 22 v 18 makes that very clear ? I'm afraid your putting the law above our lords words and commands the purpose of the law is to show sin and our need of saving from its consequences?

Is not God's Law : Love? Did He not preach this Law?

Nope, I'm not saying that at all. Jesus says to follow Him. He also said to follow the Law. If you love me, obey my commands.

I have to keep posting , because myPC will not receive your post without me posting a new post, so I keep posting .. I know what I am talking about, I have studed and preached for 52 yrs. after having 7 yrs of Bible coll. and Sem. training, BUT real learning for me. was when I forgot what the others were saying and started to just follow Jesus ' words. Men like Chuck Swindols are teaching a false gospel,, John MacArthur and John Pipper are good on sal.. You must just read the Bible for yourself. Rom. 2:4-13 NO WORKS NO SAL> MT. 7 NO GOOD WORKS< NO SAL Rev.2-3-22:12 NO OVERCOMING NO SAL> Hofco
Your view on salvation is diametrically opposed to John MacArther's view.
(Or the Apostle's for that matter)
You really need to read Romans. From start to finish.

Sorry, I'm not following that last post.
Sorry...

We indeed follow Law....

Do we follow the Law as it is written down on paper or do we follow that same Law through the Spirit?

P.S. you will find that those who you are presently speaking to are not at all denying that we uphold the Law through faith. What they are saying is that we follow the Spirit who speaks the same Law which was written down for physical obedience.

I guess what I am saying is that our obedience is to the Spirit who leads as a Schoolmaster and not to the written Law. They both speak the same thing, but we both know that the flesh never did please God and is why we are to become alive to our spirit so that through His Spirit we can keep that Law.

Correct. The Spirit has to lead us, but the Spirit can and does lead us to following the physical law as it is written. I think we're on the same page.

Jesus cleaned up the law ,from the Phony balone that the Pharisees make of the Law. Jesus made the heart of the law, love and a good consicience to keep to keeping the law. Jesus didn't destroyed one part of the law, He gave the law its full force, to convict and to guide us in our holy walk. we must keep the love of the law to be save. no lawless person has eternal life. No overcoming?
- Are you serial?:)
- - Who overcomes? (Who is worthy to break the seventh seal?)
- - - Sanctification....yet I am lost because I see my sin before me? - (As if you are perfect?)
- - - - Called humility.

The distinction I am making is that, although the Spirit leads by the Law, our obedience is not to be by our self-effort, but by spiritually hearkening to the Spirit.

I sense this is what you are saying also!?

Thank The Lord he doesn't see you as you see yourself? Your sin before me you quoted? If you were indeed cleansed by Jesus,s portion. Of the spirit he allocated to you you wouldn't see this? As far as the east is from the west has god removed our iniquity and sins, he sees us as his now sure not completed to his standard yet? Bt he bears with us as we have committed to the walk with him amen god does not see us as we see us ? This must be known by you, lest you try in vain to please him of your own volition my friend , relax , stop, be still and know that I am god , there is none like me? Psalm 46 v10 ? Cry if you have too bt let Jesus take all the strain you currently endure you simply cnt read enuf recite enuf , recall enuf, nor work enuf to please god? Jesus did it for you now relax give thanks and accept the simplicity in Christ? A1000books on the law will profit nothing amen

So, you are not at all saying that our righteousness (right standing before God) is by what we do in the flesh to please Him, but by our spirit through His Spirit?

Yep. Our righteousness is only because of His life, death and resurrection. Any works we do need to through His spirit.
