The Free Gift of Justification! cont

A nugget of truth found in this scripture Rom 5:16 that the religion of man will deny is this Rom 5:16

And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

The free gift here through Jesus Christ, as opposed to the condemnation/judgment by the one who sinned, the free gift is UNTO Justification ! In other words what Christ did for the elect He represented resulted in their Justification from all their offences. The word unto is the greek prep eis and means:

a primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or (figuratively) purpose (result, etc.)

Just as Adams one act resulted in Judgment/condemnation of many he represented, so likewise Christ's obedience resulted in Justification of those He represented. Not a possible Justification, a made available Justification, a offered Justification, but it resulted in their Justification, and of course Christ's resurrection evidences the same Rom 4:25

Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification 25

Romans 4:5 does not confirm your claims that "God Justifieth the Ungodly while being so" or that "He Justifieth them while unbelievers".

Romans 4:

3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth [verb, present tense] on him that justifieth [verb, present tense] the ungodly, his faith is counted [verb, present tense] for righteousness.

vs 3 – when Abraham believed God, God imputed righteousness to Abraham.

vs 4 – when a person works for something, the reward [Greek misthós = recompense; compensation] is considered payment of debt/wages ... the compensation is not considered a gift of grace.

vs 5 – the one who believes ... his or her faith is imputed for righteousness ... the person is justified and is no longer considered ungodly.

The purpose of Rom 4:3-5 is to make clear that faith is not works. The purpose is not as you claim.

Something else you need to consider, brightfame52, is that the verbs in Romans 4:5 (bolded above) are all present tense ... which means the actions involved are taking place at the very moment the action is made. At the very moment the person believes, God imputes righteousness, and the person is no longer ungodly.

Romans 4:5 states that the person believes on Him [God] who justifies the ungodly. The person knows he/she is ungodly and yet believes in the God Who justifies and his or her faith (i.e. not "works") is counted for righteousness ... right at the time a person believes, God imputes righteousness to him or her ... right when the person believes ... not before, not after, but when.

If a person does not believe, then righteousness is not imputed to him or her.

Mankind is wholly undeserving of God's mercy, grace, lovingkindness. We all know this. And yet, God, in His great mercy, grace, lovingkindness, justifies that undeserving person when he/she believes on Him [God]who justifies the ungodly.

When God imputes righteousness, that person is justified and is no longer considered ungodly.

the Lord Jesus Christ died for all mankind ... all descendants of Adam:

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Scripture tells us when the "Free Gift Justification" is imputed:

Romans 4:

20 He [Abraham] staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he [God] had promised, he [God]was able also to perform.

22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

24 But for us also, to whom it [righteousness] shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ

it is unfortunate that you call his posts unbelief. That puts what is credible in your posts into question. He has accurate observations too. It also detracts from the thread since it is argumentative and demeaning.

That's the funny thing about those who push both extremes of the beliefs of either Calvinism or Arminianism, they push their extremes in an argumentative and insulting manner to the opposing view. That tends to indicate that neither extreme is entirely correct and the truth is actually somewhere in the middle.

newsflash for you, brightfame52 ... you are a descendant of Adam and under "Judgment/condemnation" until God imputes righteousness.

You, who call yourself "Elect", are not excluded from the pool of humanity as is clearly revealed in Scripture:

And if you do not believe the gospel of Christ, you are still under "Judgment/condemnation" ... for it is the gospel of Christ which is the power of God unto salvation to all who believe:

He that Justifieth the Ungodly !

Rom 4:5

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Does this mean that God Justifies men even when they themselves are ungodly ? That word ungodly means:

destitute of reverential awe towards God, condemning God, impious,

irreverent, i.e. (by extension) impious or wicked:—ungodly (man).

And yes it means what it says, God Justified some men [His Elect] while they were the Ungodly, or being ungodly, even enemies Rom 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Now I know this is a truth that the natural man receives not, its foolishness to him !

Now Paul is showing a contrast here in this portion of scripture, in how a person is Justified before God, not based on his work [something he did], but was brought to believe by God given Faith, that God Justified them while they were Ungodly, Enemies.

This is True because those Christ died for, died for their sins, offences, He was raised again for their Justification Rom 4:25

Who was delivered for[because of] our offences, and was raised again for[because of] our justification.

Christ resurrection is proof positive that those for whom He died, Gods Law and Justice has been completely satisfied for them, hence God raised Him from the dead as an evidence of their Justification.

See Christ's resurrection is proof that those He died for are not in their sins 1 Cor 15:17

And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

But thats what God given Faith testifies of and is evidence of, that Christ's resurrection is an evidence that those He died for have been Justified, declared not guilty and righteous, based solely upon the blood shed of Christ.

So that means that those who would believe in the future, that before believing, they were Justified while Ungodly. See an Elect Person isnt born a believer, even though they are born sinners and ungodly enemies, by nature. Yet because of the death of Christ for their sins, they were Justified, and Christ's resurrection was evidence, so when they do finally come to believe, they believe on Him that had Justified the Ungodly. And thats the Righteousness their God given Faith looks to Rom 4:5

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Thats is, what His God given Faith testifies to, which is the Justification/Righteousness they had while being ungodly !

See that word Justification in Rom 4:25 means:

  1. the act of God declaring men free from guilt and acceptable to him
  2. abjuring to be righteous, justification

    God given Faith is given to make known, reveal this righteousness to the mind and heart of the Justified sinner, for whom Christ was delivered for their sins ! 25

Many in mans religion evade the Truth of scripture that those Christ died for, His Elect, His Sheep, His Body the Church, they evade the fact that they are by the blood of Christ alone, shed for them, Justified Rom 5:9, forgiven/redeemed Eph 1:7 even while in a unconverted, dead in trespasses and sins state. Even then they are reconciled to God while being enemies Rom 5:10. They were never under Gods Wrath, nor His Condemnation, as other men and women are, no, not even while they are children of wrath by nature as others Eph 2:2-3. The only thing is this, their Justification before God, Forgiveness of sins, and Peace they have with God through Jesus Christ Blood, its not manifested/revealed to them by Faith until they are born of the Spirit and then Called effectually by the Gospel !

The term "reconciled" is incompatible with the term "enemies".

The word "enemies" in Rom 5:10 is translated from Greek echthros – ("enemy"), implies irreconcilable hostility

The word "reconciled" in Rom 5:10 is translated from the Greek word katallássō which means decisively change, as when two parties reconcile when coming ("changing") to the same position.

God (the Party of the first part) established His eternal purpose in eternity past ... and He reconciled Himself to mankind through the death of His Son.

The believer (the party of the second part) is reconciled at the time he/she believes. At that point, both parties (God and the believer) came to the same position ... i.e. they are no longer "enemies".

To be Justified !

What does it denote to be Justified ? One of the things it does signify is to be forgiven of sin, not guilty of guilt, to be acquitted!

For instance, one of the consequences of Christ's death for the elect is to be purged from their sins Heb 1:3

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

The word purged here is the greek word katharismos and means:

cleansing, purifying, purification, literal, ceremonial, or moral; met: expiation.

a cleansing from the guilt of sins

Christ sacrificial death alone effected for those He died a cleansing from the guilt of their sins.

Thats Justification! It also corresponds to Rev 1:5

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

The connotation here is a releasing, loosing, a discharge from their sins, from the guilt and penalty of them, and so equates to Justification from sin.

In Rom 4:25

Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Justification here denotes :

acquittal, emphasizing Christ's full payment of the debt for sin which delivers from all guilt and condemnation for their sins !

Now none of this has to do with ones faith, believing, repentance, but solely accomplished by the death of Christ. Those Christ died for are Justified before God solely by His death for them! 25

Heb 1:3

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
the word "our" does not appear in all the texts, brightfame52.

The Lord Jesus Christ purged sin. Period.

Hebrews 1:3 Who [the Lord Jesus Christ] being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high

God removed the issue of sin through the sacrifice of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The result of God having removed the sin issue is that salvation has always been, is now, and always will be
by grace through faith.

Christ sacrificial death alone effected for those He died a cleansing from the guilt of their sins.
"for those He died" ...

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

From Thayer's Greek Lexicon:

5. the inhabitants of the world ... particularly the inhabitants of the earth, men, the human race ... John 1:29 ... John 3:16f ... 2 Corinthians 5:19 ... 1 John 2:2

:rolleyes: ... according to Oxford Learner's Dictionary, "correspond" means to be the same as.

to whom is the book of Revelation written ???

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John

so, no, the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ died for the sins of the whole world does not correspond to what the Author of Scripture wrote to his servants in the book of Revelation.

Now none of this has to do with ones faith, believing, repentance
:rolleyes: ... let's read Romans 4:25 in the context within which the Author of Scripture has placed it to see if "none of this has to do with ones faith, believing, repentance":

Romans 4:

20 He [Abraham] staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he [God] had promised, he [God] was able also to perform.

22 And therefore it was imputed to him [Abraham] for righteousness.

23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it [righteousness] was imputed to him;

24 But for us also, to whom it [righteousness] shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ

That's the funny thing about those who push both extremes of the beliefs of either Calvinism or Arminianism, they push their extremes in an argumentative and insulting manner to the opposing view. That tends to indicate that neither extreme is entirely correct and the truth is actually somewhere in the middle.
“That tends to indicate that neither extreme is entirely correct and the truth is actually somewhere in the middle.”

isn’t the truth here in the gospel ?

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. …Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:6-7, 15-17, 20-21, 23-24‬ ‭

isnt that the truth and why we must believe the gospel ?

Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Isnt the reason (among others ) Jesus came in the flesh , to witness the truth to the world in the gospel ?

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Isn’t the truth himself sayong all these things and is t that why the New Testament starts by saying “ you must believe in Jesus ( the truth ) to be saved ?”
The truth is the gospel brother it’s the only doctrine that offers eternal life the doctrine Jesus taught is the truth

truth

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭

also truth

“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

……… And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:35-38, 46‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is a summary of the truth

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16,

were called to hear the truth and believe that’s all we have to do because it will change us if we do accept the truth little by little we are changed by faith by the truth

Christ death Justified unto life all for whom He died !

Mans religion denies this glorious truth, by teaching that there are sinners Christ died for that shall be lost !

However the Gospel Truth is clear Rom 5:18

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Who are the all men here ? Simple, all men who were Justified to life, as a free gift, by the righteousness of one. That righteousness speaks to the active and passive obedience of Christ in the place of and stead of all for whom He represented, His Church !
