The soul is of God. If the soul can die then a part of God can die. The Hebrew language and words make for more than one meaning. The soul cannot die, as it is the breath of God. It is the body, the being, human, that dies. Soul = 5315. nephesh ►
The soul of God cannot die because his Spirit the essence of life cannot.. The soul is not separate the spirit. The temporal spirit under the letter of the law is death (not suffering)The spirit returns to the Father. The soul is simply the connection between the heart and mind.

God is of one mind and always does whatsoever His soul desire. It is God who works in us to both will and do the god pleasure of His soul .You cannot separate a soul from a spirit any more than the mind from the Spirit.

Ecclesiastes 12:7Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Hell is the living suffering corrupted mankind suffering in these bodies of death .the wrath of god being revealed.

There is no life after death with those who have not been given a new born again spirit .

God is a God is mercy not of everlasting vengeance.

The wage of sin is death not suffering forever . Where ever that idea came from

Hey agree. I believe God shows mercy to all, but if people reject it, then all that is left for them is judgement.
That's a good way to look at it.

All that left is the suffering they are exposed to in this world. The wrath of God being revealed from heaven..

The ones who were not given a new spirit will not rise on the last day

There is no suffering beyond what the eyes see.

Do you have any Scripture to support this assertion? I know of nothing even remotely hinting that the soul is "part of God".

Given that Jesus tells us in Scripture that God can "destroy both soul and body in hell" (Matthew 10:28), I'd have to say you're dead wrong.

a good question for this claim, would be to ask what about those who are put into the lake of fire with the devil because they refused Christ

is God tortured along with them?

I can't believe some of the things people come up with

maybe this is tied in with the belief that souls are already in heaven and God sends them into bodies

which is also not found in scripture and that belief comes from things like David writing God knew him in the womb

I do believe there is a resurrection for the unsaved.
I think the judgement seat of Christ is where they perish forever.

To answer the title question?
English translation particularly the King James version, and the tradition.

At creation , Adam was made to be a living soul by Holy Spirit God. The spirit of humans is the silver cord referenced in the scripture. It connects soul body and God. Nothing of God dies. Even the dust to which the body returns is "living" because all things are the energy of God. All is of andfrom God . As to eternal Hell , likely due to Constantine.

Energy revealed goes up in smoke a shadow of the heat, the witness of fire snuffed out. .

Yes nothing of God dies. . the things of men as beast of the field do. There number as the number of mankind is 666.

Not sure what the witness of men as far as Constantine would have to do with the witness of God contained in the perfect written law book. The witness of God is not being revealed in a written form . We have all the laws needed to search for his approval

Adam was made to be a living soul by the work of the Holy Spirit of God. The soul, the communicable part of a living Spirit. When men did the work of another spirit (you shall not die) .The soul or presence of God departed. Mankind had become soulless children of the god of this world that do not walk by faith but rather down the three avenues spoken of in 1 John 2. The wrath of God being revealed from heaven . Just look outside corruption doing its promised work of death. .

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Hi thanks for the reply,

Baseing a faith on the things seen as if they were the living things of eternal God is the foundation of paganism (out of sight out of mind) Death is death and spirit is life is life.

Never do the two become one. No creature can serve two masters.(1) The desires of the flesh and(2) the desires of the unseen Spirit of God. we have its power to work in us but it as it is written is not of us.

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Not one rudiment, molecule or atom of this corrupted creation will be part of the new incorruptible. No Sun or Moon, no night

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

What you call Paganism, and remember, in Biblical times Gentiles were the "Pagans", is what is in fairness in scripture.
God created all things. No thing that exists comes from any thing other than the Creator. Flesh is flesh, flesh came to exist because God created flesh and blood creatures to inhabit the earth after He created earth. He created Adam from the dust of the ground. Only in that flesh did he breath his power, life giving energy, so as to give Adam life and a soul. And on the sixth day our Omniscient Omnipresent Father looked upon all He had created and called it very good.The Book of Genesis chapter 1.

All that is, is of and from God.

The Book of Colossians chapter 1
The Supremacy of the Son of God
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

The Book of Isaiah 45:
I am Adonai; there is no other.
7 I form light, I create darkness;
I make well-being, I create woe;
I, Adonai, do all these things.

8 “Heavens above, rain down justice;
let the clouds pour it down.
Let the earth open,
so that salvation springs up,
and justice sprouts with it.
I, Adonai, have created it.”

9 Woe to anyone who argues with his maker,
like potsherds lying on the ground!
Does the clay ask the potter, “What are you doing?”
or, “What’s this you’re making, that has no hands?”
10 Woe to him who asks a father,
“Of what are you the father?”
or who asks a woman,
“To what are you giving birth?”

11 Thus says Adonai,
the Holy One of Isra’el, his Maker:
“You ask for signs concerning my children?
You give orders concerning the work of my hands?
12 I am the one who made the earth!
I created human beings on it!
I — my hands — stretched out the heavens,
and directed all their number.
13 I am stirring up Koresh to righteousness,
I am smoothing out all his paths.
He will rebuild my city;
and he will free my exiles,
taking neither ransom nor bribe,”
says Adonai-Tzva’ot. ( Adonai-Tzva’ot = Lord of hosts)
