China is constructing its second overseas military base in Pakistan as part of a push for
greater power projection capabilities along strategic sea routes. The facility will be built
at Jiwani, a port close to the Iranian border on the Gulf of Oman, according to two people
familiar with deal.
Plans call for the Jiwani base to be a joint naval and air facility for Chinese forces, located
a short distance up the coast from the Chinese-built commercial port facility at Gwadar,
Pakistan. Both Gwadar and Jiwani are part of Pakistan’s western Baluchistan province.
The Chinese also asked the Pakistanis to undertake a major upgrade of Jiwani airport
so the facility will be able to handle large Chinese military aircraft.

China also has leased a port on the Indian Ocean island of Sri Lanka that recently
opened at Hambantota. The facility has raised concerns in India that views China
as a growing regional and global threat.

Jan. 16, 2018 President Trump Is Pushing Pakistan Away From the U.S.

"While numerous terrorists and terrorist organizations have safe haven in the country,
Pakistanis themselves face many of the worst consequences of terrorism.
Pres Trump quoted figure of $33billion given to Pakistan over last the 15yrs.
Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s foreign minister, told Mr. Trump he should hire
an American auditing firm to verify his figures:
A mere 24 hours after President Trump’s tweet, the Pakistanis decided they
would switch from the dollar to the yuan when trading with China.
At the end of this feud, what’s left is an America sick of Pakistani games, a Pakistan
sick of American insults, and China waiting to capitalize on it all. While America withdraws
its $255 million aid, China has promised $57 billion worth of investment on infrastructure
and energy—all a part of its One Belt, One Road project to connect China, through trade,
all the way to Europe".
