Much prayer is needed for her and her congregation. My question is why is there no authority of the elders to remove her?

Depending on which verse from Chapter 5, this COULD BE quite a severe penalty!

:)
Based on verses elsewhere in the Epistles she should have been removed from her position as pastor already and with the unrepentant attitude the church should expel her although just like the Corinthian church I would be willing to bet that they are celebrating their "tolerance".

Most look at the idea of church discipline as being legalistic and judgmental whereas Paul very clearly states WHY it must be done. The very attitude that brings about unrepentant sin will metastasize rapidly within a body if not cut out, and the purpose of church discipline is to bring about repentance and reconciliation.

You are right but it does talk about this in scripture. There is a certain standard for Pastors and for Christians for that matter.

"He, or she who is without sin, let them cast the first stone."
Did someone in the thread suggest stoning her to death?

Since you want to bring John 8:7 in to this, the article states:

“With the exception of living a pretty much celibate lifestyle in my twenties I had been having sex on and off since I was 15 and had never been pregnant. In fact, I assumed when I was ready it would be very hard for me to conceive. Boy, did I miscalculate that.”

So how are you going to apply John 8:11 to this woman's situation?

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Can she be told she's done wrong? Can she be told she's sinned? Can she be told she needs to repent?

"Betroth: To promise "by one's truth." Men and women were betrothed when they were engaged to be married. This usually took place a year or more before marriage. From the time of betrothal the woman was regarded as the lawful wife of the man to whom she was betrothed (Deuteronomy 28: 30; Judges 14: 2,8; Matthew 1: 18-21). The term is figuratively employed of the spiritual connection between God and his people (Hosea 2: 19,20)." Were Mary and Joseph Married?

There was a time when pregnant girls, unmarried, would be sent far away, to be cared for by the chaste female leaders of the church.

Now the chaste female leaders of the church are pregnant and unmarried.

Is a wee bit of a pickle isn't it?

Agree............. :)

but there is one verse in that Chapter that deals with folks a wee bit more harsh...... :)

Which is why I was wondering

Ok, so she isn't actually the Pastor of the Church.......but some sort of Associate........still........she should not be allowed to continue in her duties........methinks if this were some church in the Bible Belt (deep South) she would be removed post haste......

Such a one should confess publicly her sin & seek forgiveness. If she does, she should be forgiven & receive membership probation, but her position should be terminated.

If she doesn't repent, she should immediately be ostracized & expelled from the congregation. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

IMO, she's not repentant, & neither is her church.

This pastor is not an example of faithfulness, love, responsibility, to her children
to her partner, to her church, to her family, to her society.

She is standing for sexual desire above consequences and Gods law.

All those in leadership are examples of the behaviour the church desires in its members.

The level of faith in this congregation can been seen by her not immediately being
removed and rejected from the fellowship unless she shows signs of repentance.

The behaviour were the person is respected no matter their behaviour is the starting
of a personality cult. Nothing is new under the sun.

It has nothing to do with "he who is without sin, may cast the first stone" it is quite simple really...imagine I represent or stand for something, and if I do not practice what I preach...then I am a hypocrite...can she as a pastor in any way provide validity in her statements or sermons to her congregation if the subject of fornication and sexual intercourse prior to marriage is the subject...she can't not only does she not "believe" what she did was wrong or is wrong...but admits she's been doing it since she was young...she shows no sign of remorse or acceptance of her sin instead she brushes it aside as oh it happened "boy was I wrong". The kind of "its outdated" what's the big deal mentality in the church today...she shouldn't be a spiritual leader... a leader is someone who is an example (not perfect) who admits their shortcomings and accepts when they sin, she does not appear to be doing either...a leader should be one that people want to emulate and follow... "Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,”Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

I agree with you 100%. Even if she wasn't pregnant, the fact that she is in a sexual relationship and not married would be grounds for her to step down.

Those churches that actually do follow biblical guidelines for church discipline often will put someone on a probationary period if they appear to be repentant. During that probationary period the person who had been removed from the congregation would be required to meet routinely with a pastor, elder, or other mature believer to maintain accountability.

Galatians 6:1-2 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]
Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.

[SUP]2 [/SUP] Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.
