We have obligations to accept those we already told we would accept! Yeesh!

And this is how it's done! "It doesn't inconvenience me. I have no dog in this fight. I got a guy who sees things my way only, so I won't notice when he is wrong, as long as it doesn't affect my tiny little spot in the world!"

Got it! Expected more out of Christians.
green cards, passports and rights get yanked every day in every country...we are not obligated to receive anyone from another country.....it is a privilege to be allowed into this country...not a RIGHT......

the problem is that if that's the rationale, a competent person might want to consider actually banning foreign nationals from a country that a terrorist who attacked the US has come from.

but not one terrorist has ever come from a single one of the countries mr. Trump banned, and not one country that a person who committed a terrorist act on US soil comes from was affected. ((over the last 20 years))

what he's done is ban a half dozen countries that are predominately Muslim, avoiding both those from which terrorists have actually come from, and those which he personally profits from.

this doesn't fit your guess at motive.
Like I said. Trump is implementing immigration policy crafted by obama and his DHS. Appears the jokes on its detractors.

it was not the previous administration's policy to blanket ban people ban national origin.

nor to apply the ban to people who have already been carefully vetted, without any consideration for vetting, but solely with respect to national origin.

but you're deflecting.

the point i made was that if the rationale is to protect from terrorist threats, he did not ban anyone from any country which has actually carried out a fatal terrorist attack here in decades. so i don't believe that was his rationale. all the banned nations are predominantly Muslim, so it seems reasonable to conclude that this is a ban based on religion - an interpretation that is very well established by his own verbatim remarks during his campaign. but he did not ban all Muslim nationals, nor even the nations that are known to be associated with ISIL -- Egypt and Saudi Arabia are not on the list, for example.

here's what we know:

all the 7 nations are Muslim
not all the Muslim nations are on the list
none of the Muslim nations whose citizens have actually perpetrated fatal terrorist attacks on the US in the last two decades are on the list
no Muslim nation that mr. Trump personally profits from private business interests is on the list

so what's the rationale?
that's what i'd like to work out.

Typo alert: I forgot to add "the most." As in "Those aren't even the countries that scare us the most." And I was going with Angela's list.
My list was of Muslim countries that have no temporary ban. Looking back, I don't think I worded it well. The point is, there are lots of Muslims nations that are not banned, because they do not have ISIS.

This is not about racism or religious discrimination. It is about putting in place better systems to catch terrorists who might want to come into the country, and do serious damage.

I could only wish our boy king would do the same. But I guess he will never ban his "own" people, will he?

The news (KELLYANNE) said there were some 40 plus Muslim nations that he did not ban immigration from...so...How can we conclude that it is a ban on religion....and to be frank...ISLAM is already against the law in this nation...I have no problem banning all MUSLIMS from this nation....we are not obligated to take in a religion (cult) that has no ability to assimilate (at the end of the day) with Western Democracy.....just saying.....

I personally believe that Islam and Allah will be the religion of the beast.....HISTORY teaches this when evaluated without bias and based upon the false gods worshipped from Egypt to Rome.......

I will witness to a MUSLIM no problem....but we are not obligated to tallow them to come into this nation...and yes I know full well that terrorism can come from any source and any country......their book teaches them to lie and deceive in order to assimilate and destroy from within!

Even Louis Farrakhan, the RADICAL MUSLIM LEADER says....

Muslim immigrants are DANGEROUS,

and Trump needs to ban or carefully vet them.

I'm not supporting this youtube channel, or the people doing the interview,
but it is footage of a real interview.

Farrakhan also said Malcolm X should be killed for exposing Elijah Muhammads infidelity

So what is actually happening?

Trump is enforcing checks on immigrants to ensure no NWO terrorists get in to America to cause any terrorism, and the libtards are getting upset?

right, we can't.

i was thinking it might be a "show" of carrying out his previous promise to actually ban on the basis of religion any and all Muslims ((which when pointed out how illegal and unethical that would be he switched to saying he would do it by country, but that this wasn't going back on his promise, rather it was expanding it)) -- but what you point out coupled with the fact that nations that are currently known to support and arm ISIL and other known terrorist threats are not on the list, means it couldn't be anything more than just that: a show.

I'm very annoyed at the hysteria caused by the MSM. In both Canada and the US, all kinds of things were conjectured, like that poor university student from Iran, with a green card, and already vetted, would not be able to get back into the country. Or the arrogant piece I heard on CBC last night, where some poor man from Iran, who lived in Seattle, would not be able to visit his family and younger brother in Vancouver BC. Because, despite permanent residency, the media was pushing the scenerio that he would not be able to get back into the US if he left, and he had just barely gotten to know his brother again after being separated for 10 years, because he immigrated to the US when his much younger brother was very little.

And how Canadian dual citizens, with their second passport in one of them 7 countries, would not be able to use their Canadian passport to go into the US, because they were going to stop dual citizens from entering the country. Although the fact is, dual citizens do not show what their other citizenship is, nor that they even have the fact that they are dual citizenship on their passports.

I watched 2 horrid days of media driven propaganda, that Hitler and Stalin would have been proud of. It was a vicious smear campaign. Now, the Canadian media is starting to write small articles retracting all their nonsense speculation presented as fact.
Back pages only, of course!

I don't like a lot of things about Trump. The only reason I changed sides, was because Trump seemed sincerely pro-life and Hillary unrepentantly said that 9 month abortion was a "difficult and personal" decision for the mother, and the mother alone. I was definitely backing the wrong horse!

I do admire that Trump is actually keeping his promises, one after another. Of course, Keystone XL will really benefit Alberta and Canada, and I hope it will keep our countries having good relationships in the future. I don't agree with the wall, never did. But at least he is keeping his promise.

And yet, all I hear is shrill and hysterical slander and lies, that Trump is the devil, and all the terrible consequences that will happen, with regards to banning immigration from those 7 countries were out and out lies, made up by the various networks and their affiliates. Media should report news, not make it!

He cannot ban Saudis until the oil supplies are secure. They are the ones who fund so much terrorism, but to ban them, might destroy or a least knock the US down for a long time to come.

As for Egypt, not sure the reasons, but hey, Trudeau is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood mosques in Canada, so those terrorists can't be all bad?

They don't understand that it may well be members of their own families killed next.

1. I don't get to immigrate to any country I want, just because I want to.

2. I don't get to immigrate to any country I want, without being checked out.

There is nothing unfair about this.

It isn't the responsibility of the U.S. to solve the problems of every single person on the entire earth...
and also agree to do it in 4 months.

The U.S. just isn't responsible for everyone on the entire planet.

(I won't even get into your hyperbole and exaggeration of rare or non-existent potentialities.)

I don't get to do everything I want in the universe,
and I'm not going to weep crocodile tears because everyone else can't either.
Good grief.

This is just silly.
Read the article!

Another person just ranting without checking into it. THAT's hyperbole and exaggeration!

Gotcha! You make up a false story like you even want to migrate, and I gave a left-winged article about what has actually happened to real people. But, hey, you're the Man, man. And I'm the idiot. No learning required. Just more and more... well, pretty much what this forum has become. No real news, just slant the crap out of news so it makes it fit into your very narrow mind of what you want it to say.

Loving your neighbor doesn't mean you give everyone on earth whatever they happen to want.

We need to stay in reality, and not venture into the absurd.

It's perfectly fine for a country to have laws, and policies, and immigration standards.

In the Bible... uhhh... Israel had some pretty stiff immigration standards... established by God.

If you want to take this debate into the scripture... a liberal view is not going to do well.

More hyperbole and exaggeration.
