Paul is wrong when he says the Fourth Amendment warrant solves the problem. That's true only if we already know who the terrorists are.

In this day and age of electronic communication at the speed of the Internet around the world, keyword searches and analysis of communication patterns is absolutely necessary to make the identification possible. Then warrants are in order, but we can't get warrants if we can't first identify the suspects.

Paul's concerns would be admirable if there was actually a basis for concern for the average American. There isn't.
Paul is concerned with adherence to the US Constitution, while Christie's concern is fighting Terrorism: A warrant solves the problem of government searches and seizures (without warrant), but does not solve the problem of Terrorism. Paul's point is that the Gov is going about it wrong; by seizing data prior to gaining the warrant.

I guess a good question this makes me ask myself: Why does Paul think it's wrong?

If we aren't doing anything terrorist-related, we have nothing to fear.
I agree.

I've seen people using a Benjamin Franklin quote (mostly out of context) in order to explain:

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Anyway, thanks for your continued correspondence. You've challenged me to begin to look into Paul a little deeper -- hopefully begin to understand his motivations.

Re: Angela53510

I try not to interfere in American politics, but Trump scares me to death. He has declared bankruptcy many times, definitely is a misogynist, now back peddling and saying he doesn't remember putting women down (In the Canadian news, anyway)
Provide links leading to evidence that Trump is misogynistic.

From any outsiders perspective, having a man like Trump run for president and lead in polls should be an embarrassment to your country. The world looks at the U.S. and looks at who represents it's people. Many countries will not take your country seriously if you elect him.

First of all, mr Trump will not get elected. I dont know his agenda, but I'm pretty sure his agenda is not along the lines of actually getting elected. For some reason I believe he's campaigning solely for opportunities to raise h...and for the attention, and while he's at it, to make sure that politicians on the whole appears like a buncha idiots, crooks and ludicrous beings in general. He is being awfully succesful at that these days.

The American political society is transparent. Far more transparent than its counterparts in Europe, Canada, Australia etc. Everything a candidate be doing is spread by media allmost before it has actually happened. His or hers private life is displayed like they are some freaks from freakshows that was popular many decades back. People like Trump are the media's Klondyke, they're feasting on folks like him. His message is not important, he is generating cash for the media. That matters.

But they'll grow weary and the normal candidates will take over the lime light as Election Day is closing in on us. By then he has served his purpose.

So, there's no reason for fearing a potus like that, this is just how the "preliminaries" are working, this is how this society is built up. Anybody can race, a lot of folks be doing just that, but by the end of the day, the far out, the extremes are no longer in the race.

Can't hurt us anymore than Obama has. We've lost respect around the world with that incompetent dictator-wannabe in the Oval Office.

No worries though. The latest Iowa polls show Trump with an "unfavorable" rating almost as high as Clintons. She's at 61%, he's at 57%. As I've been saying all along, he'll fade rapidly. He's got a lot of bluster but no answers.

Yep!

Also, VW: For clarification, I am not intending to support or vote for Trump -- I simply appreciate the attention he has helped bring to the election process. :)

Sirk, I'm sure you think you think this proves your point, but it actually proves mine. The host was right (a rarity for CNN) -- you can't get elected with saying what you're going to do, and Trump is clueless as to what he's going to do.

Did you hear what he said about taxes on this video? "Leave it alone, that's probably the simplest thing to do"? We have a 73,954 page tax code! Nobody understand it! And he says "leave it alone"???

Clueless, hopeless, promiseless. Talking isn't doing. He's not even good at talking.

So if we get rid of the tax code we better get ready for the next wave of unemployed people....and lots of em. Seems like trump understands this better than anyone.

That's absurd. Just a few weeks ago you were agreeing with me on the flat tax and now you want to go along with Trump and "just leave it alone"?

You drank the Kool-Aid, Sirk. Unbelievable. I thought you were smarter than that. I'm done here. You're blind to the fact this man is a fraud, probably a Clinton shill, and you're going to hand the country to the Democrats. AGAIN! It's pure insanity.

Trump laid out his plan for fair tax brackets and it is very much like a flat tax. Don't recall having a convo about a flat tax on here a few weeks ago if ever. I think you have me confused with someone else. It's too bad you can't settle down and talk to me like an adult.

Is it that obvious -- that if Trump runs independent, then Clinton will win??

Should we even be concerned with Clinton? Does she even have as much support as we are lead to believe?

I said, early in this thread, that I'd rather see Trump take the office than Clinton -- but this does not mean I think either is the best candidate. In fact, I wish to see neither of them take office.

What about focusing on those candidates to whom we approve of?
How about sharing some thoughts and opinions on the candidates who really matter most!

Although I agree, the world as I recall was swept off their feet at Obamas first win...the world's opinion means little.

Seems that Cruz is the only candidate with the sense to not go after trump. Love or hate trump...he's getting people talking about real issues. Attacking him and people like me who understand that...as cool aid drinkers and putting forth all kinds of accusations is immature and ignorant. I thought better of you than that VW.

Couldnt agree more. We don't need a president who wants to be liked. We need one with a spine who is willing to do unpopular things.

Yeah, someone like Cruz or Carson.
