I read a letter recently written by a young Christian woman that seemed to be a large rant against Christian men. She complained about how she never could meet the right guy, and how she felt all the Christian men she knew were "sedentary" and never really had anything going on in their lives. She admits that her daydream is for Christian Slater to show up at church and sweep her off her feet as her knight in shining armor. Yet, she insists that she is "not the bad boy type".

Women like to have excitement in their lives, I (and most men) get that. However, judging us on the first date (or even before) by the lack of earthly activities we have scheduled throughout the week hardly seems fair!

This woman is definitely not the first woman I've come across with this attitude. This woman's attitude wreaks of selfishness and earthly desire. Please note, I'm not naive enough to think this type of issue is related only by woman, but it happened that a woman wrote the message. When women write these things and feel this way it is very discouraging at times. Personally, I feel that I don't have much going on in my life that a woman would be interested in or attracted to. After all, I'm just transitioning out of academia into an unstable economy.

To women: Living for and glorifying the Lord is the most exciting and challenging things we men have to do. That's where the real "excitement" is. Regardless of your gender, a relationship with God (as with any relationship) requires never ending maintenance. Our society is constantly telling us to remain sedentary and allow others (especially others) to work for us or bring us pleasure.
I get confused what women mean by "bad boy" in this case in the same way I get confused by their application of "cute" to everything they see, even if it's hot, sexy or cool. Still with me? Anyway, my translation of "bad boy" is a man who is always planning, looks gruff & handsome, is intelligent & clever, bold, has a dozen vices a woman can smooth out to thus feel special about herself or - on the contrary - exploit for a thrill... am I getting these right?

Can one then be passionate about being dispassionate? :p

I crack myself up sometimes.
That actually sums me up pretty well. Boringness is my form of rebellion. No lie.

I think it's simpler than that.

When women look for a bad boy, what they usually mean is someone who doesn't care what they think.

The 'nice guys' care a little too much about what we think and it's annoying.

That could probably be hammered out a little better (extreme confidence and of course a 5 o'clock shadow), but I think that's really what it boils down to.

To me, someone who is 'fun and exciting' is someone who is up for spontaneous adventure and makes the best of every situation. Someone who is boring hates anything spontaneous or adventure-like and has great difficulty making the best of things.

That's my line. Although I would go for a total curmudgeon if he was at least hilarious about it.

Sounds like one of those Cold War tales in which some little group coaxes the US and the USSR into nuking each other so the tiny organized remnant can take control when the dust settles.
Is that wrong?

Of course not! I live with the consolation that I would go into clever hiding myself and blindside the organized remnant with my own organized remnant.

Could be the hours of Fallout...

Personally, I'm not a surly person, but I'm not exactly a spontaneous person either (though sometimes I can be). I guess I'm average. I think this is why I always have in the back of my mind that I'll end up with a chameleon-ish type woman. :p

And me as well. If anything the derailment of this thread proves we are not boring.

Bring it gingers, the brunettes/dirty blondes/auburn under a certain light paladins will have their day.

The trouble will be that when the radioactive dust settles, we may have different hair colors...hmmm...I guess I will have to make a manifest of who is on my team.

I think since the majority of the women here don't seem to think "all Christian men are boring", this thread should settle down and let fall. :p

If some newbie men on here see this they might get the wrong idea.
