Sometimes break ups should be done scavenger hunt style. One of my exs warranted this kind of note:

You may be wondering why the coordinates I sent led you to the middle of an isolated forest. Soon you will also wonder what happened to the car that you drove.

Life is full of mystery. We won't be sharing any of it together.

Have no fear, there is an empty cracker packet in your jacket pocket, the crumbs may help. Good luck!

Loneliness, maybe? But, I'm okay now. I'll see you then. I suppose we can't talk "as friends" so this is goodbye. Maybe someday, I'll see you at a table, at a restaurant in France. Perhaps we will both be with our future families. We'd smile and wave but go our separate ways. Please, have a good life.

There are some great lines in country song titles.

"I'm so miserable without you, it's almost like you're here."

"How can I miss you if you won't go away?"

And my favorite...

"If my nose was running money, honey, I'd blow it all on you... but itsnot."

"Don't let the door hit you on the way out" - I said that to an ex, but I said it while she was walking through a revolving door, and she kept coming back into my life!

*Disclaimer - Serious then Funny*

It's not that there's anything wrong with you, and it's not your fault. You're just not what I'm looking for.

Mentally, emotionally, psychically, and spiritually... This doesn't 'seem right' to me. I'm not at peace or joy about us.

I know that sucks, trust me. I'm normally on your end of this, but just like a mature adult, I realize it's time to end this. It's not going anywhere. I'm not going to continue something pointless and detrimental out of selfishness. The only two paths a relationship can take are marriage or break up, and I just don't think or feel that you're the one I want to spend my life with. I'm sorry, my dear. I really am. I hope you find someone who is everything you want and need, and who treats you like the princess you are. Unfortunately, however, I'm not him, and for me, you're not her.

"I'm sorry to say this, but I have to put "us" to an end...

...but you truly were a great person to me, a true friend....

...I do have feelings for you, and they'll never go away...

...but I have to make a hard choice that will lead us astray...

...so I can solve this problem, this great and horrible dilemma...

...the obsession of this one person, and his name is...

You were wrong about me. I was wrong about myself. You deserve someone better. :)

At least I taught you to smile on cam! Now keep smiling. :)

Stupid girl,
I should have known, I should have known

I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale,
I'm not the one you'll sweep off her feet,
Lead her up the stairwell
This ain't Hollywood, this is a small town,
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down,
Now it's too late for you and your white horse to come around

Here's one I actually did say:

When my first serious adult relationship ended, it was basically him saying, "I'm really not into you."

Being a curious girl (and wanting to understand how to file all this away), I asked him, "So is this something new...like you were into me, but you're not anymore?"

He said, "No, it's pretty much been this way for a long time."

I said, "Why didn't you tell me?"

He said, "I didn't want to hurt your feelings."

Then I, with my incredible skills at sarcasm said, "You SO made the right decision. Now that you've waited to tell me it doesn't hurt at all! It actually tickles. Thanks."

He winced.
