I thought that was intended to be a joke though?

As far as my understanding of this site goes, I thought going here for matchmaking wasn't ideal (since most aren't coming here for that). Somewhat like a church I guess...some go there to meet other singles but that isn't the central focus. The singles forum doesn't really function that way as far as I can tell. It "could" I guess for some (yes there are stories of people finding others here).

People have found each other, yes.

I've never seen someone come here LOOKING and find someone. It seems only the people who come here to hang out and chat eventually, maybe, pair up. Everybody I have ever seen come here looking for a match has left disappointed.

But yes, it does happen on rare occasion.

i came looking and found a great special friend. does that count

I didnt come to debate the word.
I didnt come to find heavenly recipes lol
But yes, it is rare indeed.

Only God can change a heart and i think mine is changing slowly.

That's how I met MRS DB....
It was on another forum that I was chatting on and making friends.

And I'm not exactly shy about meeting people I met online...coast to coast and across international boundaries....some even from near home.

I really was not trying to have a romantic hookup or relationship. But she wormed her way into my heart and I couldn't let her go and I couldn't let anyone else have her either. I was kinda grumpy at the time but she kept putting a smile on my face that wouldn't wash away.

To this day she is my best friend and confidant. It took us several months before we ever went to a movie or watched one....we just like talking to each other....still do. We still blow off watching a movie and talk to each other.

Well I sit corrected. Mostly because I'm too lazy to stand corrected. I'm on my lunch break.

I have been informed that there are multiple people who have come here looking for somebody and found someone. Apparently I just missed it.

I was aware of Tourist and thought maybe Calibob (if I recall aright) but I figure it as the exception and not the rule. I may just interact here in a way that precludes that I guess...

Still...not what I come here for. Not what I go to church for either. More of a side-quest if anything. Perhaps that's the problem though lol.

I already started a tennis thread on the singles forum ages ago and nobody was game so that one died.

If I feel like dancing I MAY start one on the music forum but some churches are notorious for not allowing dancing. So I have no idea how they think anyone is going to meet a suitable partner if they never host any dances. In the Bible this is just what they did.

The other christian forum I was on did not have a singles forum.
Isnt it kinda weird this site has a singles forum but not a marrieds forum. i think it would be a bit boring though, and usually married people dont chat to each other on a forum, youd think theyd be living in the same house so wouldnt need to go online to talk to each other.

Not shopping for a girlfriend now, but have been curious what kind of people are normally on christian single dating sites?
If there's anyone who has had much experience with that, I'm curious to know what you've learned.

I have learned some people are single for a reason. Definitely good to get to know people in depth ;)

Are they a good place to get to know people in depth or is it all superficial?

It's hard enough to get to know someone in person most of the time.

I have found rather talking in person or online God shows me alot. I am one that rather have honesty and you be yourself over looking like a model full of lies .But if someone tries to sanctify sin and tells me its because they are a man, than I feel they are not for me. All people sin but at least own up to it and realize it is a problem not a gender issue. Years ago would left it all go and not said anything. Worried about finding a man . It did not end well.

I think that was a well known one.

I never went on that one. I think dating sites are like applying for a job except some of them you have to pay. You get a lot of 'hits' and then have to narrow it down, I think its an exhausting way of looking for someone who you dont even know yet.

Of course most jobs by law now HAVE to be advertised even when theyve ALREADY picked someone just to see who else would apply and make it 'fair' but its not fair for all those applicants who go to all that effort and then get rejected lol
