It’s called “Catholic Guilt” for a reason, not “Protestant Guilt”. For we are saved by grace through faith, not of works, lest any man should boast. I sit on my blessed assurance too much, I know. But it is a blessed assurance.
The peace of Christ passes understanding. He’s got you. You don’t have to worry about doing a thing.
Rock of Ages, cleft for me- let me hide myself in Thee.
Could my zeal no languor know, could my tears forever flow,
These for sin could not atone-
Thou must save, and Thou alone-
In my hand, no price I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling.
Generally, when I try to “do something” for the cause of Christ, I mess it up royally. I think it is God saying, “Silly girl, you can’t do a thing. I’ve done it all.” I tried to give cookies away to a toothless, homeless woman- but she told me she had diabetes and rejected my charity. I tried to give her apples instead, but she told me she had no teeth.
