Hm...well, in response to both Soul & Lynx, I don't tend ,to judge people, or animals, or whatever...nor do I have expectations. It's all matter of case. Stimulus and response. I, for one, think animals are intelligent, and talk to them the same way I speak to people. Often, they understand based on their responses. Anyway... Not a passionate debate topic for me by any means. I've just had strong affinity for dogs. I've been saved by one of mine, and I know many others who share that experience. Thus, 'the hero animal'.
There's an easy solution to the pesky problem of risking a dry entree (and disappointing your guests... or patrons at your Chinese restaurant)-- instead, be sure to LEAVE THE FUR ON and throw it in the fryer to seal in all those scrumptious juices...
The results will be moist, tender... and tasty enough to make you want to bark at the moon and purr over every bite.
Sure, it may take extra effort to "unwrap" the meat but think of it as a plus--you're burning extra calories by putting in the effort. Cats and dogs good sushi do not make.
A full-on cooking method is the only way to go.

I can't really say I prefer one over the other, lol. I own one dog and a cat, though there is another dog and cat that aren't really mine, but they live under the same roof as I do.
The cat I don't own, she's a Siamese. I get along with most animals I know, but THIS one...this one growls at me. That real malicious kinda growl.
My kitty that I do own, as most of you know...I'm in love. ^.^ He's a little sweetheart. God couldn't have given me a better cat after I lost my first one. Man...that was a true tragedy and freak accident. He was a sweetheart, too.
My dog, he's a grump. He'll find a reason to grump and complain for any and every reason. But he can be really sweet, and he is my childhood dog. While I do remember a little bit the times that we didn't have him, most of my memories I have with him. He's 12 years old, and still going strong. I love him, and while he can be curmudgeonly, he loves me. So we're all good.
The other dog I don't really own, though I've had her for a while too, she's been a good watch dog. She sleeps in my room every night now. Like she's chosen me. I don't think my oldest sister would appreciate that since she's the one that wants to take her when she (eventually) gets married (which may or may not happen this Spring...ugh. I give up on that one. lol) The thing is, she gets into everything and occasionally will go to the bathroom on the floor (when we always let the dogs out for a bit before we leave). We think she may have some separation anxiety. Which if that's so, that's not too hard to fix. But my sister and her fiance wouldn't know how. They'd probably give up on her eventually. *sigh*
Either way, my point is...I've always loved both dogs and cats, and both have their pros and cons, but I've found that that doesn't really make one superior over the other, in my point of view.
They're both VERY fun to have around. Though cats are a little lower maintenance than dogs, at least you don't have a smelly litter box to take care of. >.<

whether you prefer cats or dogs seems (to me, anyway) to have a lot to do with personality?
my favorite sister is a cat person...she says cats are better because they don't need a lot of care and attention.
i like dogs because, though they need more care, they seem to me to give back more, too.

did you know Jim Davis, the man who created Garfield, is allergic to cats? but he grew up on a farm with a fat orange cat he loved but couldn't be around -- which is why he started drawing little cartoons of one ..
at least, that's the 'urban legend' i've heard. not bothering to look it up.

I hate, hate, hate cats!
...that's not even true. Yes, I'm admitting to liking cats.
It's just...see, I've had cats around since I was 10 years old. I've had good cats and bad cats and cuddly cats and hissy, mean cats. I had a cat that bites toes, one that perched on shoulders like a bird, one that liked to be walked on a leash, one that chased deer, one that peed on everything no matter what I tried to make him stop, one that pukes on the floor or bed or table or where ever she happens to be, one that stalks me and attacks me all. day. long, one that hisses and swipes at anyone who gets near her...
I've cleaned up more nasty cat messes in my life than I care to remember, lost the cats I loved the best, and I've had cats just dropped off at my house without warning because people know I'll take them in even if I don't want to.
So now I've got three cats, two of which I never asked for or wanted, and one we rescued from a pile of cinder blocks in our yard.
And they're all little psychos, and I'm tired of cleaning up after them or having them destroy furniture or swipe at my kids or bring wounded birds into the house. So...I hate cats. Nevermind the fact that there's one sitting in my lap purring right now, I hate her too.

I am a dog person in that I love dogs, especially the friendly ones like the labrador or golden retriever. I don't intend to stir an argument, but I want to mention a few benefits that dogs alone offer.
Firstly, dogs offer you something more than companionship. Some breeds like the German Shepherd Dog, Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher and Dachshund were bred for specific purposes. If you can put these dogs to good use, they can make wonderful pets. Part of the problem why some dogs are in the news for all the wrong reasons is because their owners don't train or utilize their skills. I don't think you have any working breeds of cats. They are good for companionship, that's about it.
Secondly, dogs can be wonderful guides for the blind and the elderly. Furthermore, thanks to their keen sense of smell, dogs are used by the police and the military.
Thirdly, a relationship with a dog is a two-way street. You have to spend time and effort to take care of the dog. But in return, you are rewarded with loyalty and affection. Unlike cats, dogs require training and this is where most owners fail. It is true that dogs are high maintenance as compared to cats, but you have to put in the effort if you want to get something in return. It is something similar to taking care of toddlers.
Lastly, dogs are loyal to their owners. Some dogs get so attached to their owners that they pine away for them. You must watch the movie Hachiko. They are so loyal that they wouldn't abandon you overnight and are unlike cats which have to be pleased all the time.
So, yeah, these are some of the reasons why I love dogs. Another personal reason is that my personality resonates with a friendly breed like the golden retriever. But I can never relate to cats.
