I ate snails for the first time last week. What kind of eater does that make me?
What'd your breath smell like after something like THAT?

Not sure what that makes you, but do snails qualify as "slow food"?

I'll eat pretty much anything, as long as it is real food, though I keep the raw onions to a minimum. McNuggets, imitation crab, and fish crackers are not real food. When I was a kid I wouldn't eat squash, now I make really good soup with it.

I grow some of my own veggies; homegrown carrots and tomatoes are SO MUCH BETTER than store-bought! Alas, six months of winter limits the availability somewhat.

Kale is an abomination unto the Lord.

I also do not like raisins - they are just tragic, poor, unwanted, dead grapes. I like other dried fruits however: dates, figs, apricots, cranberries - bring it on!

I abhor mayonnaise.

Cherries are alright as a fruit by themselves, but hate them in desserts.

I am not a fan of dill. I was until this year - I don't know what happened. I just used some Havarti dill and Swiss in a quiche I made yesterday. I still taste a strong dill flavor, but I can choke down the quiche, and am glad to be rid of the cheese.

Pesto - the basil and pine nuts are such strong flavors. To me, it seems as if they are competing with each other rather than complimenting each other. It's not that I dislike pesto. Rather, it confuses my palette and I find it annoying. I didn't understand the big pesto fad of a few years ago.

**is not a picky eater
Sometimes I think my lack of pickiness or even real preference drives my wife nuts. Routinely she hears "I don't care" as an answer to "what do you want for dinner?". She'll try again with "would you prefer X or Y?" and hear "I don't care, I'll end up eating both sometime this week."

I'm not trying to be difficult when I do this it's the honest truth.

Tuna - the canned shredded stuff reminds me of cat food, can't do it.
I'll eat it any other way, filet, sushi, poke, but no thanks to the can.

Mashed potatoes - i like potato every which way except mashed

Meatloaf - no thanks

Rosemary - no thanks

Cream of anything soup - nightmare/cat barf

I grew up hating onions, and a few years ago I found out I can't eat onions because of a medical condition....this requires me to always make special requests when I go out to eat.

I also don't like to have lots of dressings, gravy or sauce on my food.

Heard about this one lady who would freeze leftovers and write on the bag what it was - macaroni and cheese, chili, meatloaf, etc. But when she asked her husband what he wanted for dinner he never said any of those things. So she started labeling the containers and bags "whatever," "don't care," "something" and "food."

i don't like peas.
Neither do fish.

Fish don't like peas
I found out today
They sank to the bottom
And that's where they stay
I'd fish them all out
Before Mom ever sees
But then what would I do
With slimy old peas?

Ah, there you have hit on something I forgot to mention in this thread. I don't like any of the junk you find at the checkout line. Hershey, snickers, milky way, rolo, kit kat, all that stuff is mostly sugar - and not very tasty sugar at that. When I eat a chocolate bar I want cocoa. And when I eat caramel I want it to taste like caramel, not like corn syrup solids (yes Brach, I'm looking at YOU.)

The stuff at the check out line isn't even real chocolate any more. If you looked at a Hershey bar from the 90's compared ingredients to today you would realize why it has gotten horrible. I only eat chocolate that is made purely. I order mine from Whetstone Chocolates the Menendez is the bomb! And real caramel! Nom Nom - put the two together is loveliness in your mouth.

I would suggest you try Lake Champlain Chocolates. Their "Five Star Chocolate Bar" is similarly the bomb.

That is... I WOULD suggest it, but this thread is about food you don't like. So I won't.

My name is Carolina and I am a picky eater!!! :)

I usually eat pretty much anything, but there are several little things that I don't really enjoy... so I just take them out of my food and set them to the side... no problem with that... I'm actually used to doing it anyway...

Peas, mushrooms, coriander... Don't really care for those...
