Truly my favorite candies growing up were Cream Filberts (hazelnuts in a sugar coating that is amazing), Angel Food (a molasses puffed toffee - sorta like Violet Crumble for those of you with access to UK candy), and horehound hard candy - which you can find sometimes at retro/historic places. I have a soft spot for the old-fashioned stuff.

I worked at a crisis hotline long ago...one of the volunteers was a stewardess from Germany. She always brought 'real chocolate' back from Europe...mmmm.
It's taken a while, but you can finally get good chocolate here in the rural States, as long as you're not shopping at the Dollar Store.
Or Dollar General. Or Dollar Tree. Or Everything's $1.00. Or Family Dollar....
