Wait, wait... my thought about God and why He doesn't just make the world perfect again was just a passing thought. Nothing major. I do my best thinking when I'm bored.. :p Thank you for the heartfelt responses, Kim. Sorry if I made anyone feel like it was something that was deeply affecting me. I've actually pondered that question in the past too, and have my own theories but this time it was just my mind wandering..

I guess you could say I was 'Left Sharking' :D

While I don't think there is ever really a good time for body parts to fail, I find it incredibly inconvenient that my back would suddenly go out today, in the middle of a week when I'm home alone with two toddlers (one of whom needs picked up often). I bent over to get a pair of pants out of the dresser drawer and couldn't stand back up. This happened to my mom when I was little- she bent down to pick up a piece of paper, got stuck that way, and had to lie on the couch for several days. I thought it was kind of funny then. Not so much today. At least I can still stand, if I don't bend or twist. Maybe it will get better before the new rug gets here later.

Question, though- do I ice it or heat it?
"[name] chiropractic. this is Imelda. how can i help you?" lol doctor always says to ice it to reduce inflammation. ice 20 mins (not directly on the skin of course), and leave off for the rest of the hour. if you can, take ibuprofen. hope that helps :)

Hey everyone,

I have always wanted to read the Bible cover to cover, even making resolutions to follow “Bible in a year plans” that are available in plenty.

However I always fail at this because after a certain point of time, it becomes more of a chore rather than understanding and paying attention to what God could be showing me that day.

The blog started as an idea to motivate myself to read the Bible, and not just in a mechanical fashion but in a personal, deep way so I could apply it to my daily life to feel the joy and fulfillment that comes from knowing God’s word.

I hope you read on more and join me on this incredible journey!
God bless

The Bible From The Heart

PS - The intro is copied from the blog.

It is quite personal, but while discussing this with a few other people, they were also open to adding their perspectives on the Bible at the site.

For now I am starting out with Jonah, which I am really excited about. I have actually finished reading it, but just putting down my thoughts and researching other facets of this was a lot of fun...

Also, I have plans in the future to start series on things that affect us in deep ways but hopefully through the light of God's word - anger, pain, suffering, loss etc.

Kind of why I called it "The Bible from the heart"

:)

Read it cover to cover.....Jonah fits chronologically in other books, and those books add to the message of the book of Jonah.

It is tedious getting through the lists of names in Chronicles and the detailed law of Deuteronomy and such, but the difficult sections like that are few and the reading is steady after you plod through those parts. It's worth it for knowing you have done it, and sooner or later you will likely see how a lot of those names and details fit in for God's complete revelation of Himself to us in His Word.

You have to read cover to cover to really see how God works his plan through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, leading up to the Bablylonian captivity and then the prophets who wrote while under Babylonian and then Persian rule.

God always wanted holiness in His people, and they kept on compromising and disobeying untill finally He did what He said He would do and let them fall under judgement to be carried away captive into Babylon. He wants holiness today, and reading the Word of God from cover to cover is an excellent pursuit of holiness, putting the strength of your heart and mind into following your desire to know God better. Daniel, David, and others wrote of how they sought the Lord early each day, and often throughout the day. God will accept mediocre believers as His children, but He wants believers whose hearts are fully His, pressing toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

It's good you have sincere desire to know God better...I just want to encourage you to force yourself to plod through cover to cover, it's worth it, and then do it again and again as long as you are able. I believe it's only 85 verses per day on average to read it once a year. That's not much, and there's plenty of time in between for reading favorite of chosen parts extra as you move through cover to cover. I like to read Eccliastes and The Revelation of Jesus Christ from time to time as I read through cover to cover at least once per year.....on my third year of cover to cover now. Most of my 30 years as a believer my readings and studies were more random. Reading cover to cover and seeing things including the minor and major prophets, psalms, proverbs, and all iis amazing and if I could go back and read it cover to cover once a year for the last thirty years, I would read it twice per year...working on reading twice through this year...it's worth it, sister.
And of course, read the King James Bible through cover to cover. All modern versions leave out a lot and make a lot of key changes of doctine by changing key words in certain verses.

Stop lights are like the TV commercials of the road (and equally as annoying).

Thank you for that suggestion.

I shall try and incorporate a more chronological, cover-to-cover reading.

I do enjoy reading the action packed more "adventurous" stories in the OT.

Jonah is probably one of those and why I wanted to actually start out writing on a blog to be more inveterate instead of keeping it in pipeline. The blog is still very raw and still needs to be proof-read.

I love reading the Bible and I am definitely passionate about it. I will take that suggestion to hone it to a more dedicated approach.

Thanks and God bless

seoulsearch: We won't be robots in Heaven, but there will be no sin. Consider which people will be in Heaven. Those who have already made the choice.

I could elaborate a lot on this but I only have two minutes left on lunch break.

I wonder: Will there still be choice in Heaven? (Also: Will there be Indonesian food? I am really digging their sauces!)

*looks at book*

"I'm gonna start this book today."

The next day...

*looks at same book*

"I'm gonna start this book today."

The next next day...

*looks at still the same book*

"I'm gonna start this book today."

The next next next day...

*looks at the same book yet again*

"Oh forget it. I'm obviously not gonna start this book anytime soon."

Well God bless you too, sister, and I'm sure He will as you continue in His Word, even if you don't read it cover to cover.

Despite the occasions of yelling and disagreeing, at the end of the day, I love my mom. :) She means well, just overdoes it in certain areas that she really shouldn't.

The cold wind causes my hands to crack and bleed sometimes...

Texas sounds like paradise right about now, and I hate heat.

I'm going to have to stop going to the CC main page. Over at the right they have the five most recent posts, and the most recent ones are usually predominantly from the BD forum (because they post SO MUCH over there) and they are usually full of insults. And I always glance at the list out of habit to get a thumbnail sketch of what people are talking about and I always regret it...
You can make that disappear.

Yes. Alternate heat and cold. Heat increases blood flow to the area which helps with healing, cold helps to keep inflammation in check.
