Because I am negative. I swoop around saying negative things like “just because you pray and read the Bible it does not mean God will grant your requests” and such unpleasant things as “God is NOT anxious to give you what you want”. I’m not slap happy.
I have found it mostly sucks with small increments of time when it does not actually suck. But it is my fault my life sucks, so I am not playing the victim. I am well aware I am reaping what I sowed.
From what I have observed - and I have observed many people in many different stages and states - life can be made to not suck in almost every sucky life.
How can you have missed all the C&H references I have been so liberally strewing around the forum? I'm afraid everybody else - on the forum, in my family, at work, at church, etc. - is by now heartily tired of me quoting Hobbes so much.
Perhaps because I have just read it in Norwegian? I should perhaps educate myself and buy myself a Calvin and Hobbes collection (in English. In Norwegian they are called Tommy og Tigern, and that is not far as funny as the English title) for Christmas?

I have been reading some posts recently and been thinking how they reflect the persons' view of themselves more than how they actually are viewed by others. Quite scary thought, though. How do all my negative and self pitying posts reflect me? No wonder I scare people off with being boring and serious.

I don't think you scare people off, and your posts aren't boring either. I find your posts more interesting than average, but sometimes I withold replying because it is either a touchy subject for me or I don't feel like sharing something personal.. but I feel that way with a lot of threads.

This was a post that worked against it's intentions....
I was trying to make a point of that some people here are portraying themselves in such a negative manner, that it scares me. Because if they view themselves as they seem, without a trace of self irony, I think they really need to view themselves as others and even our creator view them. (and then I noticed my post begged for the replies it got, but that was not my what I tried to provoke....Thanks, though.)

Maybe they took a public speaking class. In public speaking classes they teach you to tell people what you are going to tell them (introduction), then you tell them, then you tell them what you told them (summation). It increases information retention.

Nah, just misguided. Sometimes the problem is self-correcting as the superior person runs headlong into the world's brick walls and realizes he's not superior after all.
Or sometimes they don't self-correct and keep running into brick walls. Either way, when someone thinks he is superior the best thing to do is get some distance so you don't get caught in the inevitable impact.
