One time I was boogieboarding at Huntington Beach and I wanted to go out past the breakers like the surfers do so I paddled way out there without fins and then turned around and realized the current or tide swept me out further than I thought and i started to panic. It was late in the day and no lifeguards were on duty anymore, plus I wasn't with anyone. I used to boogieboard everyday after work.. so I was all alone out there. I started paddling towards shore and praying and I was inching my way back and it seemed to take an eternity and I was worried my legs might cramp but they didn't and I finally made it back to the beach about half a mile from where I was before... I actually came onshore at Newport Beach! I was profusely thankful to God too lol.
Back when he and my mom were teens, before they were married, he thought he would impress her by swimming real far in the ocean, got a leg cramp, nearly drowned, and two people had to help him out of the water.
My mom never even noticed.
