I do understand that it takes more care to wear long hair. I wore mine long for years. And getting it combed out after leaving it down and loose on a motorcycle ride is real interesting lol! Had to slather it in conditioner while in the shower, and run one of those big-toothed combs through it, for about ten minutes. With the conditioner in it. Otherwise it was a lost cause. But I did enjoy wearing it long, but these days it isn't good socially. If a woman wants to wear it real short, fine. Just not my thing.

I have long-ish hair, but have been debating cutting it to shoulder-length for a little while now. I had my hair barely longer than chin-length once and I really enjoyed it like that. However, long or short, I don't like to leave it down, I hate having hair in my face.
Well, my wife had it really long down her back, but she did The Chop years ago now.

It often comes, sooner or later. Right? :)

(Sounds like you really like the idea of a chin-length Louise Brooks cut...)

i prefer long hair on myself now. And my husband does too. But when he met me, I had short hair. So he didn't fall in love with my hair. :)

I have known an over zealous christian woman who believed that for her to cut her hair was a sin. And when her children playfully cut their own bangs, they were chastised with that in mind. She even took pics of her long hair from the back and showed the entire world online the scraggly ends of it like it was her pride and joy to prove she hadn't cut her hair. It was nassy looking but I didn't dare call out, "The Emperor has no clothes!" (translation: it's a hot mess) in the midst of all the lavish praise she received for being so seemingly godly. Needless to say, it was a rather legalistic view.

A woman's hair length should just be according to her own preference.

Oops, am I allowed to post here being that I'm married.

What shall we do when our own hair causes such pride of self? The Bible says that when a right hand causes us to stumble, we should "cut it off and throw it away" (Matt 5:20). :p

Why, do you like it, Monica? :)

Blessings.
oh, the reasons are many...

+time saved
+courage to shed the "security blanket"
+freedom to totally thrash your hair by bleaching and coloring it like crazy
+edginess quotient appeals to me

it's unlikely i'd ever get my hair cut like that. my curly hair works best either rather long, or extremely short (i.e. 1/4"). anything closer to the middle is verging on 'fro territory. : )

I love short hair on some women. I love long hair on some women. I figure it's their hair, their relationship with God and their business. I cut quite a bit off of mine on a regular basis, but who am I to judge the reason another woman does or does not want to cut her hair? What if the reason she chooses not to cut her hair is not pride, but a true personal sacrifice on her part toward her God? What if cutting her hair would make her more prideful in some way? How do we know what callings God has given to others? Are reasons we may not know or understand about someone else's walk with the Lord truly legalism?

You look adorable either way, but I do like the short cut on you. :) Praying things just get better and better for you. :)
That was all before I became a Christian. That was a life time ago... now? I'm a free woman from depression and suicidal tendencies. Amen and amen. All is good! :)

Well, I'm sure yours looks nice.

If you look carefully at the picture I posted, although it's trimmed over the ears and neck, it's also tufty at the top and at the front.

Monica: 'edginess quotient': I like that! :)

Blessings.

PS: Having said this, it's not unusual for a professional woman to keep her hair closely trimmed; kind of businesslike, I guess.

I think it looks neat and clean, and I really like the color. More importantly, if she is ok with it, I'm ok with it. :)
