I see a lot of women in the business/corporate world - and church sometimes - who'll wear a real nice, conservative suit (talking about the skirted kind, not pants suits!) and often they feel compelled to wear their hair "up" or cut short. Occasionally I'll see a woman suited as described wearing her hair down and it looks so nice. Additionally, any weddings I've been to in recent years, the bride, in almost every instance, has worn her hair in an "up-do." Can't remember the last time I've seen a bride with her hair down and a veil and blusher over it. That, to me, would be lovely. I won't even bother getting into these wedding "gowns" that have bare arms and bare shoulders and bare necks and throats and like no lace, ruffles, and all that. Totally non-romantic.

you do realize its 2014 and not 1950 anymore right? Like pant-suits are fine, and so are non-extravagantly ruffley and lacey wedding gowns.

Sigh...this is a Christian website.

James 2:1-4 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

I'm guessing then... that the polka-dot bow tie in your avatar is your idea of romantic dressing. ;) Well, at least it's not showing any skin! :)

So many guys want women to wear their hair long and loose, but be sure to try it first before prescribing it. :) I rarely wear my hair down because 1. it's extremely warm 2. it gets in my face (chewing on hair during lunch is not attractive) and 3. as others have pointed out, it gets caught on things and/or pulled.

Ironically, for me, my hair is even more work when it's short. I wish the Sinead O'Connor look was more widely accepted... It would make life so much easier!

I actually feel self conscious lately wearing my hair up.. and my hair is almost waist length. Every time I pull my hair up ... before I leave the house I take it down again.

For me, I like women with short hair. They are more likely to be agreeable to spontaneous fun things - just slip into some jeans, brush the hair and GO!

at least, that's what I'm hoping.

I have long-ish hair, but have been debating cutting it to shoulder-length for a little while now. I had my hair barely longer than chin-length once and I really enjoyed it like that. However, long or short, I don't like to leave it down, I hate having hair in my face.

What i do with my hair, how i fix it, cut it, or keep it, usually depend on my mood.
I did notice that whenever im trying to change my outlook in life,
I (most of the time) change my hairstyle!
Does that mean I'm weird and mental? Prolly. I dont really care. :)
So far, no regrets tho.

Who wastes time with a brush?

That's what is so awesome about my short, layered cut: it's perfect for my fine hair. I just have to wash it, towel-dry it, and run my fingers through it. I can shower, dress, put on make up, and be out the door in 10 minutes (unless the dog can't decide which part of the yard to use first).

If you can look past the fact that the picture on the left portrays me as a self-loving try hard (I was 18 years old, cut me some slack) you can see I had very long hair. It was about the same length when at 20 years of age, my mother told me she didn't love me and kicked me out of home. So a couple of weeks later, I cut my hair very short. The right is a picture taken about a month after the cut so it grew half an inch or so by then.

Yes. I did cut my hair because I was mentally unstable. Not long after cutting my hair I attempted suicide for the second time. Yes, I actually did at one stage have a maroon mullet. Yes, I did put white streaks in my hair and have had raven blue hair and everything in between. Each time I was very angry and needed to do something 'out there'. So I can kind of understand why someone would argue such a point, but its probably only for a very slim minority.

But now... obviously I am not in the same position and sometimes I do miss having short hair. It felt free and fun having short hair and it pushed me to be creative with the limited length I had. Maybe, maybe one day I'll have short hair again and it definitely won't be because I am 'mentally unstable'. That's my 2c worth. Please try not to laugh too much at the old photo of my 18 year old self. I'm still trying to suppress the giggles myself.

Almost waist-length? Wow! Nice to know there's a woman out there with that much "crowning glory"! Compliments to you!

It's my idea of professional dressing on a daily basis, proper dressing for church on the weekend, and yes, if I'm taking someone out on a nice dinner date or something like that, it might be my idea of "romantic dressing." Haven't gotten any complaints.

Maybe when you get married you'll be able to wear a bowtie with lace and ruffles to match her dress. :)

I actually think that would be kind of cute. In fact, you could have them make you a bowtie from the leftover fabric off the hem of her dress! Totally romantic. :p I hope you post the pictures! ;)

Nah, I've already got a tux with nice, stiff pleats up the front of the tuxedo shirt that I'd wear with a vest and bow tie, likely in black. Some things you just adhere to proper protocol!

You look adorable either way, but I do like the short cut on you. :) Praying things just get better and better for you. :)
