I'm glad the report was encouraging, Adelkruif :). Reading about how you got saved was really cool; you encouraged me, in addition to the vise versa that you mentioned :). Hopefully others will be brought into the fold from hearing your story. I may mention it sometime; some people have seemed a touch sheepish that they were searching for God on the net. I try to assure everyone that it's nothing to be embarrassed about (actually, I'm often relieved that they didn't walk into some random church and hope to be welcomed, not that we're perfect here, but...). Sometimes (often!) people don't get saved right away, and it was nice to hear your testimony; I know sometimes it takes awhile to finally come to the conclusion that Jesus is the Messiah. A friend phrased it to me this way last year, "perhaps you brought them from a negative 6 up to a negative 3" (for anyone who isn't good at math, that just means that the person is now twice as close to getting saved as before; I suppose half the doubt is gone :)).

__________
It can be discouraging to witness to people about Jesus and how he lives and breathes in you when the person you are witnessing to doesn't seem to gRASP what you are saying.

That said, I ENCOURAGE you to realize that it is the Holy Spirit who SAVES them, NOT you :) YOU are merely a vessel God is using, so, NO worries, NO pressure, NO reason to think you need to save them. You don't and, moreover, you won't. God will :)

So, in your witnessing, like Jilly says above about -6 to -3 of reaching them, that is how it works with an unbeliever often. They need to be broken down into an understanding that Jesus CAN be their Lord and Saviour and healer and protector and joyous Love in their life ! :)

So don't be discouraged IF you think you didn't do anything when you talked to the person in the grocery line. Like teachers that left an impression with you in grade school that you never told, and, they therefore THINK you did not appreciate them, REALLY, you APPRECIATE that teacher a lot, just never did tell them. So, just because you are witnessing left and right to people and it seems fruitless, don't stop from discouragement because God is at work in those you have witnessed too. I ASSURE you that. :)

And, if not sooner, like when you will SEE that teacher that changed your life in grade school that you never came back to and told how great an influence she was, you will SEE that person in Heaven that YOU made change their life forever by choosing Jesus. Because of what you started :)

I should also add that I've gone to church my whole life, so it's not like I didn't have anywhere else to go. I feel comfortable talking to people online, so that is where I turned instead of talking to our pastor or parents. I do admit, I DID feel a little sheepish and embarrassed when I told my parents about the emails I had been sending. I don't know why I felt sheepish but I sure did. My parents didn't have the slightest idea I had been emailing somebody for three months till I told them.

And about your statement of people don't get saved right away...I mentioned to the lady on the other end numerous times that I felt bad for how much time of hers I had taken up with all the emails. Her only response was that she would spend as much time as she needed to help me discover Jesus. I guess you could say she brought me from negative infinite to ground zero, where I accepted Jesus. :)

Thanks for the encouragement, Green :). I know it's not always obvious right away when we plant a seed (or water it a little :)). I hadn't realized that I'd sounded a little bummed until you posted your response. I realize that it's God who saves people, not us; hadn't meant to say anything other than to thank Adekruif for posting and letting us know that net-seeking had worked with him (and I apologize for misspelling your screenname the first time, Adekruif:). Thank you for all your encouragement and cheering, Green. It's nice to have positive responses, and thanks for being patient while I responded to everyone else :). Except one! Keren (Ijustwantthetruth), thanks for posting in the thread, it's nice when people respond, and I appreciate it. And I know what you mean about the new guy, Keren, but hopefully our freshly converted friend will learn straight from the One Who rescued him in the first place; He can teach us anything we need to know :).

That's so wonderful, Jen :)! Those stories make me feel so happy.....we're going to have a huge family up there in heaven :). Can you give any details? Just for encouragement. If not, I understand; I didn't give out details, as I didn't want to mess with anyone's privacy, and I realize that, sadly, a lot of Muslim women are incredibly oppressed and wouldn't want anyone to even know that they went on a Christian web site, for fear of severe persecution..... though I'm sure that coming to the arms of Jesus just makes salvation that much more wonderful to anyone who hadn't felt true love :).

Thanks, Seas; you too :).

I don't remember his screen name, he came into the chat room asking if anyone could help him learn about the Lord so I pc'd him and asked him his beliefs and all that and he said he was a muslim but he knew his religion was wrong and that he wanted Christ so I got to lead him to the Lord it was super amazing!

Thank you, Sarah (Be_Evergreen)! I try to be the same way while witnessing, too...friendly yet determined :). I love psychology too, BTW (page stalkin' ya, as you can tell :)). God bless you also :).

Wow, Jen, that's great; I wish everyone would be as direct as that guy :)! Though if they were, I suspect things would get a little .....well, not boring, but I think the Lord made everyone different partly to keep us on our toes and to keep life interesting. Not sure why I assumed the person was female...I actually looked back to see if you'd accidentally typed "she" instead of "he", I was so sure, but no, you hadn't said either one :). Oh well, there's some of the psychology for ya...I guess because we'd been talking about the other Muslim lady :). So glad we have a new brother now!

Adekruif, sadly a lot of people go to church their entire lives without ever being presented with the Gospel, especially not in a "Hey, I've got great news! Let me tell you how you can get to heaven; Someone loves you SO much that He died for you!" way. I think parents would save themselves a lot of anguish if they made sure that their children understood the Gospel at a young age and presented the story of Jesus to them themselves and explained what He was offering them, rather than hoping that they were still interested when they were older, when it may be too late :(. I'm not saying that to try to pick on your parents; I don't know them, don't know their story and I don't know if they're even saved themselves. Also, perhaps you heard the Gospel in church and just doubted until you sought for yourself; again, not trying to pass judgement. Either way, I was blessed by your story :). A lot of people would rather talk to a person online rather than face to face, especially if it's a stranger...I've been amazed at how open people can be to a screenname on the internet, and I'm really grateful when it's something I can help with. "From negative infinite to ground Zero, where I accepted Jesus"...that's a great phrase :)!

Thanks, guys :). Oh, and I sent CowgirlJen a link to this thread since she and I had briefly talked about seeing people born again after we witnessed to them; I had wanted to tell her these stories, as I knew she'd appreciate them. Just in case you all were wondering why she was in the Single's Forum, that's why :D.

And I forgot to say thanks for posting, ViolaKat. I agree, We can be used in so many different ways if we just submit to the will of the Lord and do what He prompts us to.

This subject has been on my heart for a while. I didn't join this site to argue about pre-trib/post-trib, or whether or not Mary remained a virgin for the rest of her life .

I joined because I wanted to see lives changed by the power of Jesus Christ. The harvest is great; LOTS of seekers come to these forums, and I'm afraid that most of them end up in the Bible-discussion forum, which makes me sad :(. I would LOVE to see a forum dedicated those who are seeking or new to the faith, where arguing isn't allowed..........Sharing the love of Christ should be forefront on our minds, and this site really does make it easy to do. As Christians, we are supposed to be Jesus' earthly ambassadors, and it makes me wonder just how amazing and effective this site could be if we all kept the proper goal and mindset.......Thanks, Jilly :) God Bless. -Nichole
Put something in the 'suggestion' box, snackersmommy. roboOp, I am sure, is a good listener. I am sure, at the very least, he will hear you out. Hearee, hearee, order in the court !! :D

That's awesome, Jilly81!! The force is strong with you. (Sorry, I couldn't resist saying that). I guess we can view the Holy Spirit as the invisible force of God though. ;)
Amen, zere !!

Actually, Green, one of your posts here was one of my favorites, but I was going to respond to it closer to Valentine's Day (you'll see why later :)). I thought that thanking you for the encouragement and for using one of my posts in this thread to start another thread was sufficient in the meantime; I didn't mean to make you feel left out. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! :(. To make it up to you, you can call me "Jilly Bean" two times, even though I had previously said not to change my screen name, which you listened to very nicely :). Also, here is another consolation prize: a picture of what Piddy would look like if she were dyed green :D.

And one more, actually....you had asked me a question in the "questions you always wanted to ask" thread. I hadn't forgotten to answer it, I just had thought about it for a LONG time. I didn't want to just throw out a response. I might go answer it right now.

Haha, I typed all that and then answered your question in the other post, Green :D. Okay, time for dinner now. :)

Yeah, you are with a lot to say, guys like liam will listen to you all night long (I've heard Liam say he was a good listener to girls before in other posts, btw). Me, I am about as sporadic brained as they come but I THINK I can listen too, and, I do know that I heard what you said in that other post, it was a lot and, the Lord leads, nothing wrong with that, follow Him. :)

Both my parents are believers and the churches we have gone to have presented the gospel. I knew the gospel, and I knew what HE had done for me. Honestly though, I didn't care. I remember talking to my youth pastor when I graduated high school and he asked me where I stood with God. I told him that I hadn't really given it that much thought because it wasn't important to me. I didn't care about God until just recently.

I wouldn't call it doubt that pushed me to search on my own, it was that God wasn't real to me. I had been TOLD my whole life about God, so I had the head knowledge but that's as far as it went. I knew about this "God" but God being real? I hadn't seen any proof so I didn't see any reason why HE was real. There was a certain event that God used to show me what I was living for, and I realized where I was headed if I didn't change things. That's where it all began. :)

JillPill?! Bacterial infection?!?!? (Gives GreenNnice "THAT LOOK"; considers giving him an alternate moniker also, but knowing that he was just being his eccentric, mildly bizarre self, decides to simply point out the offense. Rethinks previous sentence; changes mind). TealNamiable, you must not call me that. I am a little bit upset at you now. To make it up to me, you will need to apologize and post either a link to or actual image of a hilarious mustelid photo. In case of unavailability of said photo, any photo that one of the girls would have posted will be fine. I shall wait for your reply, KellyNeasygoing. -Jill

Sorry , Jilly,I was about all day playing with nieces and nephew and not around or would have answered you sooner, but could not.

And, I am sorry if I said something that upset, but....

Think of this, girl. Washington Carver, think it was, discovered penicillin in late 1800s, that is another name for antibiotics, which heal bacterial infections . Anyway, it was a miraculous discovery God gave this guy to save the lives of people everywhere from things up until then, like small pox, that you pretty much died from after catching 'it' in the 1800s, and, all time before that going back through the years, which was, well, let's just say it was a long time :(

Up to that time in history, there were people dying at your age even, and, kids, a lot of kids died, because without penicillian antibiotics. Penicillian might be liquid form, I should look it up, but I am too lazy, but antibiotics can be taken intravenously through IV or.... pill form so, it was TOTAL compliment to you, in other words. I was being green and nice to you, like I am to ALL the ladies, try to be, anyway, there is NOT a mean bone in my body. I do sometimes get on guys, the Lord leads, for being disparaging in remarks to the ladies, but I am still being nice . :)

Jilly, I do like certain mustelids, actually a lot of them fasciinate me. I am fascinated by the otters, OH HOW THEY PLAY when I see them at zoo !! Like the monkeys too, they play in the air is the only difference from the water-wonder previous saids :) And, I want to see a wolverine in the wild someday, not quite as fantastical a dream as going to Africa but, yeah, wolverines seem cool. But Africa! now seeing a green mamba perched in a barren, little tree would be cool, from a distance because they can go up to 35 mph think it is and in Africa, they call a mamba '3-step,' because if you get bit you take three steps and you fall over from heart paralysis and die ..... , I also want to see a huge python snake wallowing in the mud in Australia, going 15 feet up in the air, like a cobra looking ready to STRIKE!, and, slopping down into the mud again, and, doing this act a number of times, for it is not striking but instead stuck in the mud after a flood and, literally, in a quicksand that it is going to drown in :( I saw this on PBS one time 20 years ago, fascinated me. The Lord leads.

The Lord leads, jilly, I hope, and, pray, you let Him, He will direct you wherever you will best go, He knows best. You have heard of the phrase, 'Father knows best,' well, then, God IS your father in Heaven, right. :)

. YOU are a great girl, jilly, I LOVE your exclamations on c.c., they are wonderful posts of proclamation, like this witnessing one, of God our Saviour at work. Awesome!
Great blessings WILL come to you for your work, serving Him, following him, learning and wanting to know Him, genuinely, more. :)
