If we take peoples word and belief for things, just think of the other things we'd have to believe.
I won't coldly cut through such a (s)warming conversation, I'll look forward to spotting you on the chat and enjoy your stay :)

Testimony is a common and even essential means of acquiring knowledge. Our education system is built on it. But it also plays an indispensable role in our mundane tasks (media).

While it's true that testimony isn't an infallible source of knowledge, this is also true of every other source: perception, memory, reason, etc.

Believing other people's beliefs huh?

Modern day "scientists" and today's school systems teach that the universe was created by a big explosion called the big bang. They say that out of nowhere it happened and that from that explosion came everything else. That theory is completely absurd and defies the law of physics called cause and effect, where there had to be someone or something that caused(created) the effect (creation). It is also in the laws of physics that something can't come out of nothing. Now some people will argue, then who created God? But then think about this. what is knowledge? what is the purpose of us having knowledge? why do we perceive knowledge? why do we have senses? Why can we label right and wrong actions? All the diversity and order in this universe and even in a single cell or atom cannot have simply happened by mere chance, it's impossible. Evolution says that all creatures came through by adaptation AND by chance otherwise known as a MILLION miracles. The universe had a beginning and scientists know this, they say the age of the universe is 13.5 billion years. So then that means that from one point in TIME the universe started, which obviously means that TIME didn't in fact begin when the universe was created and it obviously is traveling ever forward. Friends it is required of more faith to believe in these theories than to believe in the one and true God.

Credo argues from the point at hand, reliability of types of knowledge, but you've just strawman'd cosmological science.
The big bang theory does not say the big bang began everything or created the universe, they don't say out of nowhere it happened, what it does say is that matter in space, on average is moving away from a singularity (universe expanding outwards), which if you backtrack concludes matter was contained in a much smaller space long ago.
Universe age is time measurement from the present to the singularity and is hardly definitive to say its representative of all existance when, when there is no current means to test the past further than that.
...and the chance fallacy of evolution, please.

and what law or object contained matter long ago? unknown isn't it? certainly not gravity because it would still be held together and what is expanding it? unknown also?. i studied anthropology and am not even going to get into evolution, it is simply absurd and even darwin said there is no evidence that any specie has changed into any species, look it up. anyway, ur reply really doesn't in any way or any form hinder or invalidate my statement

anyway..from what i know they are still called THEORIES and not FACT, and here ends my discussion about this.

One small note: scientists do speak of the big bang as marking the beginning of our universe: "…if we extrapolate to the distant past, all the matter and energy in the universe would have been concentrated in a very tiny region of unimaginable density and temperature, and if we go back far enough, there would be a time when it all began--the event we now call the big bang" (Hawking and Mlodinow, The Grand Design, 124). And Hawking does postulate that it all started out of nowhere, so to speak: "...when the universe was small enough to be governed by both general relativity and quantum theory…" (134).

But since Hawking also adopts an instrumentalist view of science in that book, it's not clear whether he thinks his story is true or whether he sees it as a useful fiction. Anyway, realists would certainly jump on Hawking's theory (or some of them... a lot of physicists have said Hawking is off his rocker in this latest work).

Thanks, yes thats why I was careful to say Big Bang theory and not 'scientists say and then equate it with the original theory'. If you try communicating topics that have depth to the masses, its going to get simplified for you. Postulations are just postulations of course, I won't doubt your note. Hopefully there will come a time when people understand what Theory means in science ;)

Something that bugs me about what Christian media/people have done to Christianity is that it has twisted it in a direction that simply isn't true; people now think that if what they believe in the Bible conflicts with science, the science must be wrong. Now, sometimes this is the case, but it is usually your interpretation of key passages that is wrong. Don't feel bad; when you examine something that has been translated, and view it from the goggles of a different (Western) culture, you often end up getting the wrong idea.

For instance, you guys are talking about the Big Bang. What gives you the impression that God didn't create the universe in such a manner that a 'Big Bang' would've occurred? The people who say "the big bang came out of nowhere" are, of course, illogical and wrong, but there is a tremendous amount of evidence that the Big Bang occurred; yet Christians get the perception (and here is where hurtful stereotypes are created) that "because the Big Bang is scientific, and lots of Atheists believe it occurred, makes it wrong and unbiblical". WRONG. Do the Atheists not also believe the Earth was created at one point in time? So? Didn't God also create the Earth at a point in time? Indeed, he did.

Adding things to the word of God (namely that "God supposedly didn't create the universe starting with a Big Bang") is wrong, and the result of satanic influence. Here is a Biblical example of this:
[Genesis 2:16-17]: "" And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”"

Okay, so God gives a set of incredibly clear instructions. Let's see if Eve adds anything to his instructions:

[Genesis 3:2-3]: "The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”"

Unfortunately Eve has added "must not touch", thus falsifying God's word. Many "Anti-science" Christians do the same every day.

However, many Christians run in the opposite direction; taking things away from God's word. Yes, I'm looking at you "Theistic Evolutionists". In case you're not aware, many Christians believe that God created man through evolution. Simply examining the Bible will reveal that TE's are taking away from God's word. This, also, is the result of satanic influence. Let's examine those two Bible passages again:

[Genesis 2:16-17]: "" And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”"

Okay, so God gives a set of incredibly clear instructions. Let's see if Eve takes away from anything He said:

[Genesis 3:2-3]: "The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”"

God said that they were free to eat from any tree (except the tree of G&E); eve said they may eat fruit from the trees. God said "free + all"; Eve said "may", and didn't even mentioned 'all".

Furthermore, God says "you will certainly die"; Eve says "you will die". God, addressing Adam, says YOU will CERTAINLY die.... However, Eve removes "certainly" (a powerful word), and instead says "you will die" (to Satan) instead of "I will die".

So some of you may be going "Meh, so what? It's only a few words, here and there. What could possibly go wrong with that?". I'll answer that with another verse: "When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good... she took some and ate it."

Just a few words can be the difference between falling to sin, or Glorifying God.

So we see that taking away from the word of God is also a satanic influence.

Wow, this was way longer than it should've been. Oh well.

Only say exactly what the Bible says; and keep in mind that while it is never wrong, you're interpretation of it may be.

Just to clarify, I don't think anyone was saying that there was no big bang. I think Adrian was objecting to the idea that it was "out of nowhere".

To shorten your statement Thetruthwillsetyoufree, i will put all my complete faith in what genesis says about creation and on no one else since in that book gives an account of the manner in which God created the heavens and the earth, period.

The creation account is there for a purpose. If the method with which creation came about was unimportant it would not have been included in the scriptures
