Too many pronouns? Alow me to rephrase it, I hope more clearly.
We have a family member, Alice, who got caught up in the WOF movement. Alice got cancer, and believed her faith would heal her.
Alice "claimed" healing. Alice believed faith alone was what was required to be made well. Alice's words were all positive, and Alice allowed no talk of anything but being made well by her faith.
Alice believed her sister died of cancer ONLY because she (her sister) didn't believe hard enough.
We held Alice's funeral yesterday.

The unhappy face emoticon was because we lost a family member, not because of some 'doctrinal' difference.

The easiest explanation is that it was His will. Often times we can't see that due to our own grief but I digress. The problem with these prosperity evangelists who push this heresy is that they put our will ahead of Gods will and rather than having us as His children search to find His glory in all situations we demand God provide explanations as to why He does what He does. God doesn't answer to us, but regardless of some very pretty mission statements and faith statements, we have "Spirit Filled" teachers that try and place God in the hot seat by their false doctrine and anti-biblical rhetoric.
On the other side of the coin, someone whom I consider to be one of my best friends went through the exact same thing. His wife spent 2 years fighting cancer and graduated leaving 6 kids and a wonderful husband behind. During that 2 years all they did was praise God for the many blessings they received. They shared the gospel at every turn and reached out to help others in similar circumstance reflecting true faith at every corner. Many came to know Christ through the trials of these folks and the work the Lord did through them.
He is made perfect in our shortcomings and imperfections, we just need to get out of His way and help bring His awesomeness to the forefront, rather than focusing on ourselves.
God Bless you and comfort you and your family.
