Tell me, how did God sanctify the Sabbath?
Sanctify means to set aside. God made holy the Sabbath by Blessing that day and giving it to man to observe.

The Sabbath is a sign of Gods creative power. The sabbath was made as a reminder to man that God is the Creator. That He is responisble for all we see and all we have.

God stopped His creative work, and rested the 7th day. He instructed man to do the same.

So then how would you apply the Sabbath in your life according to your description?

I cannot find where in the Word it says one should not observe the Seventh Day with Yahweh as a day of rest. No one forbids it except certain revisionist theology.

Keep asking, the same answer will be given.

Many "think" one way about it while many "think" another way about it, but Paul teaches it is just fine to observe one day over another while the observer has a clear conscience in the sight of our Father, so why the feigned controversy? I certainly hope it is not designed to further human agendas!

I disagree. paul never told anybody that the Commandments were not important. He told folks "it is keeping the Commandments of God that matters."

So,, for you to say, paul turned around and said it doesn't matter,, is a contradiction. Paul knew the Sabbath Commandment.

Perhaps because it has been shortened to 8 words by the church of Rome,,, men have forgotten it.... No wonder why God began it with the word "Remember".

Tell me, how did God sanctify the Sabbath?

Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

To sanctify:

H6942
קדשׁ
qâdash
kaw-dash'
A primitive root; to be (causatively make, pronounce or observe as) clean (ceremonially or morally): - appoint, bid, consecrate, dedicate, defile, hallow, (be, keep) holy (-er, place), keep, prepare, proclaim, purify, sanctify (-ied one, self), X wholly.

When we use this word the general usage is to "set apart for holy use".

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Why are we told to 'remember' the Sabbath? Because it has been around since creation. See below...

Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

First thing to notice here is that this is not the Sabbath of the Jews, it is the Sabbath of the Eternal your God. It does not belong to a man, a race or a nation, it is God's Sabbath.

Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Notice here God refers back to the creation week and the seventh day of that week. The Sabbath has been God's day since creation. God blessed the Sabbath and made it holy. Only God has the authority over time to declare a period of time holy.

Now in Leviticus 23 we read...

Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

Let's notice some things. Notice that these are the feasts of the LORD, not of the Jews, but of God. They are holy convocations. What is a holy convocation? I think we know what holy is, but what is a convocation?

The word for convocation is...

H4744
מקרא
miqrâ'
mik-raw'
From H7121; something called out, that is, a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the palce); also a rehearsal: - assembly, calling, convocation, reading.

A church service today would be a holy convocation.

Again in verse 3 it is the Sabbath of the LORD.

So youhave any question about who the LORD is? You do know that the LORD is the one who became Jesus Christ, don't you?

God set the Sabbath apart for holy use and He alone has the authority and ability to do so.

First, don't work. That is the easy part. Don't go out and earn your paycheck on the Sabbath. Remember how you wanted to get your house painted before fall? Don't do it on the Sabbath. Can a Christian prepare meals on the Sabbath?

Exo 12:16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

Second, it is a holy convocation. I go to church on the Sabbath. I spend some extra time in prayer and Bible study on the Sabbath.

It is a time for rest...

Exo 16:23 And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.

It is fine to prepare a meal, but I wouldn't roast an ox or a turkey on the Sabbath. Do the heavy lifting on Friday. the preparation day.

Another point, we as a family, spend time together, have a nice meal, enjoy one anothers company. An afternoon out on the deck with the kids and grand kids. A pleasant walk with the wife.

The Sabbath is a good time to visit those in a hospital, or nursing home or just someone who is down and could use a little company.

The whole idea of just staying in the house, not doing anything but resting and not evening fixing a meal is what Christ referred to here...

Mat 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Mat 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
Mat 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
Mat 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

and here...

Mar 7:2 And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault.
Mar 7:3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.
Mar 7:4 And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.
Mar 7:5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?
Mar 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Mar 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Mar 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Mar 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

No dear brother. I do not see anywhere in the Word teaching not to obey all ten of the Commandments.
The OP makes reference to "a certain rest" in Yeshua, however a certain rest has absolutely nothing to do with the Shabbat of the Seventh Day since it is a gift to all believers to rest from the six days of labor one day a week with Yahweh. This is not a "certain rest," this is rest to avoid fatigue, and to have the pleasure of having a day set aside to be with our Father in Yeshua.

If we go back to where our Savior teaches us to learn from Him, He says in so doing He gives us rest as opposed to the teachings of the hypocrites who weigh heavy burdens they will not move a finger to lift themselves. We also have rest or relief from the fear of death's sting, for it's power, the law has been completed in giving us grace for when we falter.

This latter day teaching that there is no need to honor the Father in accepting His eternal gift of the Sabbath, albeit be one day a week in this age, is not found anywhere in the written Word from Yahweh, Himself, and this is Yeshua. Yahweh bless you always........

Well, if there is no God it doesn't matter. If Christ was not the one who spoke from Mt. Sinai in Ex 20 it doesn't matter. If Christ did not give the commands in Lev 23 it doesn't matter and if Christ is not the Creator, then it really doesn't matter what day you keep.

Then the day is to be kept holy...I think we all agree on that...
I can tell you what I do on Sabbath. I do not know what everybody else does. So,, I will speak for myself.

All thru the week I work, do my chores,, go play golf. Go shopping, get my car worked on,,ect...

Friday, I make sure I have all the things I need. My house is in order. My wife might make potatoe salad and vegetarian baked beans, among other dishes, and put them in the fridge for Sabbath.

Come sundown, Prayer,,then,, I refrain from the world. Personally, I don't buy or sell on the Sabbath. I don't work on the Sabbath either. My wife and kids, pretty much leave me alone on Sabbath. They know I'm not doing anything but going to church, reading my Bible, praying and meditating on Godly themes on Sabbath.. I might visit some relatives, or a grave.

That's pretty much how my Sabbath goes.

No it's not. The sabbath was a sign that GOD was the one sanctifying Israel.

So do your wife and kids follow the same routine?
