Gotime,

Most of us who teach Salvation by grace alone do not argue the premise that true Salvation will produce obedience in the lives of believers.

The point of disagreement is about whether obedience is instrumental in obtaining Salvation.
Fair call, I would have thought obedience central to salvation. Don't get me wrong there, I don't mean my obedience can earn or merit salvation but rather obedience is the result of freedom from Sin/disobedience.

Why do I say that?

Did not Christ come to save us from sin/disobedience.

Rom 5:19 For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous.

So I'm wondering about the 4th commandment to Honor the Sabbath and Keep it Holy. Is it no longer required to keep? It was for the nation of Israel only? And being called the LORD'S DAY, it is the first day of the week, which then is Sunday? Because it does say that the Sabbath is Saturday. AND if someone could explain Luke 23:54 with this question. Thank you.
The day of preparation was the 14th of Abib. The Passover was consumed on the previous night; since the evening of the 14th precedes the day of the 14th. All traces of leaven were to be removed from the houses and any shopping for the next day (or in this case the next two days) had to be done because the 15th of Abib is a Levitical Sabbath, and has all the restrictions of a seventh day Sabbath.

Lev 23:4-8
4 These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord's passover.
6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
KJV
The Sabbath that was approaching was the 15th day of Abib which was the first of seven days of unleavened bread.

Ex 12:3-15
3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the Lord's passover.
12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.
13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel

Preparation day was Friday and then the Sabbath followed as it stated and the Sabbath drew on which is the 7th day of the week. If u look at the word Sabbath it really means 7. Remember God did tell us that men would think to change times and laws. Ask urself what times and laws God is speaking on. The 4th commandment says Remember and its the only one which God tells us to remember. What is the purpose of remembering?
What is so important about this day? I dont understand why people won't believe history about Rome changing this day to the vulnerable day of the Sun. God says, He change not. The traditions of men are killing us.
Your response to Momo10 is logical but NOT CORRECT.

Well, the whole "We sin in our flesh but yet we don't sin spiritually because our sin is not charged to our account because of Jesus" type belief is not taught in the Scriptures..
[SUP] [/SUP]But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[SUP][d][/SUP] because of righteousness. Rom 8:10

I believe it is up to the individual whether they consider one day more sacred than another. But to insist a person sets aside a specific day based on which day of the week it is shows someone not filled with the Spirit as is available to them. For if you have accepted the fulness of the Spirit available to you, you would not see the need to set a specific day of the week aside, and insist others also observe that specific day. You would still be following the letter in my opinion

You mean we can't possibly gain salvation by grace thru faith & then lose it by sinning (works)?

Hebrews 6:4-6 ESV
For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened (saved), who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.

Matthew 7:21-23 ESV
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

ESV
For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”

ESV
But when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and does injustice and does the same abominations that the wicked person does, shall he live? None of the righteous deeds that he has done shall be remembered; for the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, for them he shall die. “Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear now, O house of Israel: Is my way not just? Is it not your ways that are not just? When a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and does injustice, he shall die for it; for the injustice that he has done he shall die.

ESV
For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses.

1 John 2:3-6 (KJV) [SUP]3 [/SUP]And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. [SUP]4 [/SUP]He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. [SUP]5 [/SUP]But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. [SUP]6 [/SUP]He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Romans 11:22 ESV
Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.

ESV
He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.

ESV
But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. Yet this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.’

Hebrews 6:1-6 (KJV) [SUP]1 [/SUP]Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, [SUP]2 [/SUP]Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. [SUP]3 [/SUP]And this will we do, if God permit. [SUP]4 [/SUP]For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, [SUP]5 [/SUP]And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, [SUP]6 [/SUP]If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

ESV
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

ESV
But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

ESV
And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

ESV
For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.

ESV
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness, where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years. Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart; they have not known my ways.’ As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall not enter my rest.’” ...

ESV
“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?

ESV
For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.

ESV
“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

Jude 1:3-6 (KJV) [SUP]3 [/SUP]Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. [SUP]4 [/SUP]For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. [SUP]5 [/SUP]I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. [SUP]6 [/SUP]And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

ESV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

John 15:2 ESV
Every branch
in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

That's a lot of pages to tear outta your Bible to get rid of OSAS evidence. (and this wuz just a quick internet search)
;)

I heard a sermon once by a minister. He said that 85% of ''Evangelicals/charasmatics'' did not have a proper understanding of the doctrine of justification. Having been brought up in such churches I was interested in what he said. Upon reflection I would probably agree with him. It is a tragic thing to me, that so many of the churches that believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit for today, and term themselves ''born again'' can stumble in understanding at the very core of the Christian faith.

So I'm wondering about the 4th commandment to Honor the Sabbath and Keep it Holy. Is it no longer required to keep?Is it ok to sin after we accept Jesus? if not then yes still keep it. It was for the nation of Israel only? Jesus said it was made for man: Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: and the Sabbath was made before there was a Jew : Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made. This is pre law.

And being called the LORD'S DAY, it is the first day of the week, which then is Sunday? Which day is the lords day? Jesus said in the above quote that he was lord of the Sabbath day. Because it does say that the Sabbath is Saturday. AND if someone could explain Luke 23:54 with this question. Thank you. Jesus died on a Friday which is preparation day and the next day was the Sabbath in fact it was a high Sabbath because the feast Sabbath fell on the same day as the weekly Sabbath.
Hope that helps a little, blessings.

Anyone saved by the grace of the Blood of the Lamb of God will not be a child of disobedience any longer, for he is made a new man.

Perhaps it is possible to claim salvation, then nor be responsible to do anything, but I do not believe the deep gratitude and love generated by the infilling of the Holy Spirit would ever allow such ingraciousness.

Tell anyone who believes we should worship God only that it is permissible to disobey this commandment. So it is with all of the good commandments and laws.

Work out your salvation with fear and trembing and strive to enter into the KIngdom of God. Once saved we must treasure that salvation in Jesus Christ, for He is Salvation.

Hebrews 10 clearly says they will face God's judgment (verse 31), and His judgment is the lake of fire which is what verse 27 says a fiery indignation that will devour those against God. Destroyed in the lake of fire !!!

Revelation 2:5 has nothing to do with taking away their authority, as He says when He comes again and they have not repented and returned to Him they will not receive their place in the kingdom of heaven (no salvation). He says they have to overcome to eat from the tree of life ( receive eternal life), if they do not repent they will not get to eat from that tree and will be blotted out and sent to the lake of fire.

Ignorance seems to pour forth from you on a regular basis......the context IS forsaking the assembling together and in so doing you count the blood of Jesus a common ordinary base thing.....keep working your way and see how far it gets you.....I would drink plenty of water while you are still alive though.....

THOSE who count the blood of JESUS a COMMON ORDINARY BASE THING ARE NOT OF THE HOUSEHOLD OF FAITH!

Look at all of Paul's epistles and even the epistles from John, as they take and show you all the fruits of the Spirit that will be evident in a born again believers life. Then tell me which one of those fruits would have a person sin? Not one of them. We can not longer transgress the Mosaic laws, but a person can still transgress God's moral laws.
This is why we are told confession for sins is still needed in a believers life by John, because we can and will still sin again. The difference is do you stay in that sin when you backslide, or do you feel the Godly sorrow leading you to repent of it and therefore confess it and stop doing it to receive remission from the Lord.

Apostle Paul constantly shows what the works of the flesh are, and states that anybody who continues doing them will not inherit eternal life. And the works of the flesh are all transgressions of the law, and the works of the Spirit that he mentions that we are told to walk in are the opposite and will not transgress God's moral laws that are in our heart and mind. Paul show in Romans 13 that the greatest fruit of the Spirit which is love will uphold all of commandments.
Apostle John says if you do not keep His commands then Christ does not abide in you, and if Christ does not abide in a person their is no salvation.

When you are dead in your sin, in other words, when the flesh, the carnal, the hedonistic mind, the physical urges to obtain satisfaction for the body, govern your life and behavior, you are dead in your sin. Because sin is unrighteousness. Sin is doing what the world wants of you not committing to what God wants for and sees in you.

If you are saved your sins are forgiven and God remembers them no more. When you sin as a redeemed believer and repent each time, God forgives and remember those sins no more. Even though he saw them when they happened that you trust him to wash you clean of their affects in your life is what he asks of you in that repentance. Because you are then holding and expressing, living, the faith you have in him and his power over you.

Therefore, if you work for God's approval, if you think you can do this and that without being saved, without repenting of your mortal appetites that are sinful and sin-filled, you fail. Because you can't labor your way to Heaven.

However, when you are saved, baptized, you are a new creature. You are reborn in the spirit and the flesh that houses you who are now in the body of Christ, with God's Holy Spirit living inside the new temple that is "self" , you are led by that spirit to do God's will and live as an example of his word. Because God is the word, the resonance, the harmonic vibration that brought all things to exist.
And as you act in favor, live in Christ, speak as one who would know he listens to every word as you are a representative of his testament and sermons working in your life, you are laboring, working, his grace in you for the benefit of the kingdom. And that then blesses others.

Good works is committing to charities, giving to the poor, handing out Bibles to those in need, giving that extra few coins to that hungry single mother in line at the grocery who would otherwise have to put back that unaffordable loaf of bread that would feed her and her child. Paying for that elderly couple behind you at the toll booth.
Things that God whispers to your heart to "do in my name." Because you are now his emissary to the world as one redeemed in the name of Christ and living his word as it has come alive in you.

At least that's how I live it.

(Hug) God be with you.

Sisters and Brothers,

for the life of me,
I just can't fathom or understand what the meaning is of
'dead works',

I beg your forgiveness for my ignorance.

Jeremiah 17:5-8 KJV
5Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

6For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

7Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

8For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Hebrew 10:12-18 ESV
12But when Christ[SUP]b[/SUP] had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

15And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,
16“This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws on their hearts,
and write them on their minds
,”
17then he adds,
I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.
18Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.

Once again a misuse of understanding Hebrews 6, as the scripture is not saying it is impossible for all who fall away to come back in repentance to receive salvation.

The context is stating it is impossible for those who by their own understanding refuse to repent because they feel there is no need and they put the Lord to an open shame because they will never turn from their ways. Their repentance is not a true repentance, as only a true repentance will show a change in one's life to turn away from sin.

Nowhere in the bible does it say a person who falls away can not come back in repentance.
So no we are not scared of that passage because we do not misuse it to say one who falls away can not repent and come back to the Lord.

[h=1]Psalm 51:12-14[/h]12Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

That's OT Kenneth and out of context with the New Covenant of Christ's blood......nice try but we are under the New Covenant, one sacrifice for all sins, the blood of Christ saves sinners.......
