[h=1]Psalm 119 Revised Standard Version (RSV)[/h] [h=3]The Glories of God’s Law[/h]119 Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of the Lord!
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Blessed are those who keep his testimonies,
who seek him with their whole heart,
[SUP]3 [/SUP]who also do no wrong,
but walk in his ways!
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Thou hast commanded thy precepts
to be kept diligently.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]O that my ways may be steadfast
in keeping thy statutes!
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Then I shall not be put to shame,
having my eyes fixed on all thy commandments.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]I will praise thee with an upright heart,
when I learn thy righteous ordinances.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]I will observe thy statutes;
O forsake me not utterly!

[SUP]9 [/SUP]How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to thy word.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]With my whole heart I seek thee;
let me not wander from thy commandments!
[SUP]11 [/SUP]I have laid up thy word in my heart,
that I might not sin against thee.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Blessed be thou, O Lord;
teach me thy statutes!
[SUP]13 [/SUP]With my lips I declare
all the ordinances of thy mouth.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]In the way of thy testimonies I delight
as much as in all riches.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]I will meditate on thy precepts,
and fix my eyes on thy ways.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]I will delight in thy statutes;
I will not forget thy word.

[SUP]17 [/SUP]Deal bountifully with thy servant,
that I may live and observe thy word.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]Open my eyes, that I may behold
wondrous things out of thy law.

The old covenant is not the Law. The old covenant is an agreement that by keeping the law perfectly a person of Israel could obtain his own righteousness. God knew that Israel would not and could not keep the Law. That is why in Jer 31:31-33 God offered Israel a new covenant. Israel had to learn that he could NOT please God by his own efforts before God would offer the new covenant. The intent of the law is, was, and always has been to bring people to faith.

The law is to us, who believe, a declaration of total dependance.

Thanks for quoting my favorite psalm! I'm glad to see you know the truth. We live in a time where God is gradually calling his people back to his holy commandments. The majority of the discieved world isn't going to listen. But those who do will likely be protected when he eventually starts pouring out his wrath. Thanks for stopping by.

Tit 3:5-7
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

The error is the belief that the law was ever a path to righteousness. The law can only reveal our shortcomings; it cannot and NEVER could impart righteousness. Righteousness has only been obtained and can only be obtained by faith.

It was true of Abraham although he bore false witness regarding Sarah at least twice that we are told about.

It was true of David, who God called 'a man after mine own heart', though he was an adulterer and a murderer.
Amen. This is truth, brother. It's in the old and new testament.

Habakkuk 2:4
See, the enemy is puffed up; his desires are not upright— but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness

Romans 3:20
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

Romans 1:17
For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

And now we have...

Romans 3:25
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—

For any who desires this righteousness, believe in Jesus Christ, repent of your sins, and be saved.

Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. (Genesis 8:21)

So I guess this sacrifice wasn't really pleasing to God then, Marc? (Rolls eyes)
This one is easy.

:)

Gen 9: 9 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. [SUP]2 [/SUP]The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth and upon every bird of the heavens, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea. Into your hand they are delivered. [SUP]3 [/SUP]Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. [SUP]4 [/SUP]But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. [SUP]5 [/SUP]And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.

Notice that God gave EVERY MOVING THING to Noah for food.

Yes, there were clean and unclean animals with regards to being suitable for sacrifice, but claiming that the dietary laws applied prior to Moses is an error. :)

Here's a question for you.

God gave Noah every moving thing on earth for food. This includes all animals. Assuming that you think Noah was a Torah observer, how do you explain this? The last time I heard, pigs move.

My understanding is that you believe physical circumcision is required for Christians.

How do you explain these verses, where Paul clearly states to his Gentile audience that if they become circumcised, they are cutting themselves off from Christ?

Galatians 5: 5 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. [SUP]3 [/SUP]I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. [SUP]4 [/SUP]You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified[SUP][a][/SUP] by the law; you have fallen away from grace.

@Eliwood, why is Sabbath-breaking never mentioned on any of the sin lists in the epistles to the Gentile churches?

The likelihood that there were slaves in the NT church with unconverted Gentile masters is very high. What if their master would not allow them to observe the Sabbath, assuming it is a requirement? Would you say they were condemned to eternal punishment for something they could not help?

When Israel left Egypt they marched for over a month before reaching the Wilderness of Sin. God revealed the Sabbath to them at that point, as a test commandment. They obviously did not know about the Sabbath until it was revealed. Why would God have them breaking the Sabbath during those 4 Saturdays if it was a moral absolute?

If your brother's wife dies, are you going to marry her and have a baby by her as per Leviticus 25:5-7? If not, what gives you the right to exclude that law?

Mark 7:19 says that Christ declared all foods clean. If Christ declared all foods clean, why are you claiming that clean/unclean meat laws still apply?

Why did John call the Passover "the feast of the Jews" in John 6:4?

@Eliwood,

Acts 15 clearly teaches that Gentiles are not required to be circumcised and to keep the law of Moses. Why do you claim that they are?

Paul said that he was convinced that there was nothing unclean in itself in Romans 14:14. If so, why are declaring that certain meats are unclean?
