My point was that even in that situation, a woman cannot stand up in the pulpit and preach to the congregation, she must be silent, otherwise it will be a worship service that God will not accept, and therefore done in vain.

...and it is possible, a congregation can consist of two or three people.

Might want to read about Priscilla, and then rethink this?

HA HA HA HA HA....

Allowed...

Who's going to stop them?

I'll try that when my wife comes home from work. Sorry babe, women aren't allowed to preach. You'll just have to be silent and agree with everything I say and do.

This is going to work out great, I can already tell.

Just because the church meets in someone's house does not mean the owner of the house is doing the preaching.

Women are allowed to preach just as long as they don't wear pants.

The older women can teach the younger women, but God will not accept a worship service where a woman is preaching to the men of the congregation.

I'm not sure any of us should be saying what God WILL and WILL NOT accept. But if you have Scripture saying that God will not accept this, I would like to read it.

Well I bet it was quite acceptable to God when all these male prisoners got saved when Corrie ten Boom preached to them.
Men and women just need to be quiet and let the Holy Spirit do the talking.

Bull! I gave you the source. It was my textbook. Textbooks go through a process to be published, one very much unlike wikis. I guess it's just easier to look up the first thing to find on Google then thoroughly search for yourself. (BTW, have you ever researched how reliable Wiki really is? I have. Downright frightening that doctors agree with you so use it to diagnose patients. Same researchers found the medical info on wiki is only 80% reliable. Medicine is a science, just like sociology.) Fine. You made up your mind and proof won't sway you. I'm cool with that. Not like I've never been on this forum before. Just don't pretend it's me.
Apparently you've forgotten what it means to PROVIDE EVIDENCE. Claiming you "read something in a textbook" is NOT evidence. That would be like an officer sitting on the stand and claiming they found "several different prints" at the crime scene without bothering to explain who these prints belonged to and their various significances.

YOU are the one who doesn't want to do the work. How am *I* meant to prove YOUR claim? Research ALL the sociology textbooks that were in print in 1974? Then use my psychic powers to sort out which one YOU USED? And then get a used copy of the book and read it until I find the passage that proves YOU are right?

Uh no. You make the claim, you post the evidence. I made a counterclaim and posted evidence. Instead of YOU posting YOUR evidence, you're simply claiming that mine is faulty and somehow we should just take your word for it all....oh, or do YOUR research.

No evidence= just your opinion.

According to 1 Timothy 2:12 Priscilla went AGAINST the word of God. Just because someone does something in the bible doesn't make what the person did right. I mean geez was it OK for Abraham to go against God and sleep with Hagar? Of course not. Priscilla went against the word of God... she was in the wrong.

1 Timothy 2:12 KJV
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Here is a teaching on the subject that shows 1 Timothy 2 in it's cultural setting of the day they lived in when Paul was addressing Timothy..

http://whchurch.org/blog/9737/twiste...-1-timothy-212
This a quote from the website.
1 Timothy 2:12 has been used over the years to keep women from teaching or preaching theology and being in positions of leadership within a church. When looked at within its historical and cultural context, however, we find Paul's restriction on women was due to specific cultural problems that no longer apply to educated women today
.

The website only proves the guy doesn't know anything about the bible. First he calls them "Paul's restrictions"... they're not Paul's, they're God's restrictions. Second the bible tells us plainly why a woman is not to teach. Cultural problems have nothing to do with the restrictions on women... women can't teach because 1) the man was made first and 2)the woman was decieved, not the man. Again cultural differences have nothing to do with the verses and the bible is not bound by culture... the word of God does not change period. Women couldn't teach in Paul's day and they can't preach today.

1 Timothy 2:13-14 KJV
For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
[14] And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

This is an interesting assertion, unfortunately without scriptural support. There is not a single verse which suggests that Priscilla, specifically, was in the wrong.

When they were first introduced, it was as 'a Jew named Aquila... with his wife Priscilla' (Acts 18:2). Around a year later, once Paul had worked alongside them for a while, he mentions 'Priscilla and Aquila' in verse 18. Of the five other times the couple is mentioned, four have Priscilla first.

It appears that Priscilla was, in fact, the more prominent one, and it doesn't make sense that Paul would continue to mention (in positive terms) a couple where there wife was doing something wrong.

And from the mans perspective, women are our weakness. We will sacrifice what we know to appease them, help them, not hurt their feelings. We are fixers and just like Adam, we will choose woman over God.

Its more of an indictment on men that women can't teach men bible doctrine.

I believe this was covered in Angela's post in this thread in post #89

And Paul did talk about cultural situations in the scripture below to do with hair.length..etc...Paul said "We have no other customs in the churches ) ..just in this particular church....so it does happen..

1 Corinthians 11:14-16 (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
[SUP]15 [/SUP] But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
[SUP]16 [/SUP] But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

Sure there's scriptural support... 1 Timothy states plainly that a woman is not to teach a man. Did Priscilla teach a man? Of course she did the bible says she did.

It doesn't matter who the indictment is on, I just know the bible plainly says a woman is not to teach and that's all that matters.

What does the churches of God having no custom regarding hair length have to do with a woman teaching a man?
