conditional eternal security.

Now there is a contradiction of terms

You can have eternal security

or you can have conditional security

You can not have both. One means forever, never can be lost. One means no assurance, can be lost.
c

Yes EG, a total contradiction.

Another appropriate time for a Ricky Ricardo saying."...IY YI YI YI YI!!!" conditional eternal security? WHAT IS THAT?!!!????

People! People! People!!! Think about what you saying.:eek:

Any who believe they are given the authority to edit God's Word are mistaken. We are to obey Him. If you do not have a grip on what exactly we are to obey, just ask Him, and learn from the Master Who shows us by His Example, and He teaches us directly if we study what and how He teaches. There is no place in the New Testament where Jesus instructs us to disobey the commandments of God, but there are places where He tells us to obey them. Learn what and how, from HIM.

I would not say equals. Equals means the terms are interchangeable, I would not say obedience equals faith, I would say Obedience is a result of faith, or empowered by faith, which is more accurate.

or we could us a a well known term, faith works.

A faith that does not work, is no faith at all.

No right minded, Spirit filled, Born again, child of God would teach, or think it is ok to be disobedient followers of God.

This continued strawman that people can misuse grace to be disobedient followers of God, so we should reject grace altogether (which is reality is exactly what is going on) is for the birds..

Faith works, It does not sit Idle,

The question is, do they have any faith at all.. Or do they just have mere belief (see James 2 with eph 2: 8-10)

Saving faith = belief, trust, reliance in Christ for salvation. Obedience which follows is works. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Obedience is produced out of faith, but faith is not simply defined as obedience/works. By or out of faith...Abraham obeyed. Faith is the root of salvation and obedience/good works which follow is the fruit of salvation.

I read a large portion of the beginning of Spurgeon and agree on much of what he has said. That is a good link, thanks for posting it Bookends.

For me it is becoming more personal because it has to be something walked in. Obedience of faith is about trusting in His love for me and that produces the desire to be like Him. But most often it isn't about works but it is what enables me to do any works. The faith part is where it begins and carries me the whole way. The grace part is the ability to keep trying after I fail. Then as these things work together the failing becomes less and less. As the transforming of the mind is accomplished to be what He made us to be...like Him.

Without the faith that He finished the work for me I could not move forward in works. We get to take part in walking with Him. The more the love of God is shown through Jesus the more able I am to see by faith how to rest in Jesus finished work. Eph.3:19-21

...and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fulness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.

to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever amen.

The only way to even begin to do that is by the obedience of faith. Not sure what you mean by editing God's word? Or where anyone has said to disobey?

Walking by faith is trusting in the love of the One who has loved us and bought us with a price. We are no longer our own and happily so!!! :) Having the Holy Spirit to direct and interpret and teach and comfort as we read the Bible and rest in the finished work of Christ. We cannot find rest in our works because they are never finished.

Walking in the provision and grace of God is how we proceed. Looking to Jesus Who IS the Author and Finisher of our Faith. We can really work to rest. That is our highest calling. The works come out of walking in who we are now in Christ; righteous sons of God. We can't do it in the flesh because the motivation comes from the new born again spirit-man that is working out what Christ has put in.

We have this treasure in earthen vessels. He put within us the new man who has power and love and a sound mind., we are daily working out the life of faith. :D Heb.11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

That is how the new spirit man lives in these flesh bodies. Goes contrary to the natural man. Calls for us to see past the physical and to walk in the supernatural.

I give you a bike. You decide to throw it in the ditch. Gone is the perfectly good bike.

We are given something more than an outside gift like a bike. We are made a new creation. We are changed and given a gift on the inside. We don't take ourselves and throw ourselves into a ditch., we can't make "gone" the perfect gift of salvation that Jesus died to give us once we have received this eternal life that changed us from sinners to sons.

We are now bought with a price and are no longer our own. How far we GROW and know Christ is our choice and we will WANT to grow in Christ. Some Christians have not been taught or learned about there being no condemnation to those who are IN Christ Jesus.

Many Christians are like I was; fearing God when they fail. Grace teaches us how to walk in newness of life., how to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, to live soberly righteously and godly in this present age. Knowing about His unconditional love will enable us to walk out our own salvation in seriousness of mind as our minds are renewed.

When we have this understanding of grace, we will not fear God any longer because Jesus took our condemnation and guilt and judgment. We have open access to the Father. But we must receive that truth by the obedience of faith in order for us to walk it out. We believe by faith that He loves us when we mostly feel unlovely. He changes our minds by the obedience of faith.

So teach the others that their future sins are forgiven and they are secure if they do the things Paul warns for, handy. And then simply say: oh you are a false christian. It could have become a real christian who repented and got set free if they hadn't been taught this lie.

Gal 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

That part from the grace teaching is awesome but they go too far.
On one hand there are people who need grace preaching, others who are in sin need a holiness preaching. That's why they had 2 Hill's in Brownsville I read. The ones that were really saved felt condemned by Steve Hill.

The gift is not eternal salvation, here, doesn't matter what you do with it, but all who accepted Him he gave the power to become sons of God.
Paul had to have birth pangs again for the ones that hadn't repented from their former lifestyle until Christ was seen in them.

Parable of the sawyer. They received the Word, believed for a while and fell when the problems came. They didn't have eternal salvation.

What about the believer who has no works abide the fire of the JSOC, but he himself is saved?

What about the believer who has lots of works but the kind that will get burned up because his works (while looking good on the outside) were done by the power of his flesh for his flesh and not by the inner workings of the Spirit. Many Christians work out of guilt and not because of the love and grace of God IN Christ.

Another reason why I am totally convinced in the doctrine of the security of the believer. There are Christians like I was who although they are saved and made sons being born again., as they progress in their walk, start to fail.(as does happen) They can't imagine God would love them now after all He did by sending His Son, they can't even be good. They fail. And they look at themselves and not Jesus who finished their salvation 100%

So like we avoid the creditors who we cannot pay, we avoid God the same way. When we think of Him all we feel is guilt and condemned. This is a tactic of the devil. If he can get us to doubt the kind of love God has for us, he can keep us under condemnation and guilt. This is our own fault for (not believing) in the love and grace of God in Christ. God's love is not like the worlds where we humans do well and get what's due us. God's love is; Jesus did right and we are given what is due Him. Makes absolutely no sense to the human brain...unconditional love.

We need to walk in the obedience of faith. Faith is an amazing thing. We walk by grace through faith just as we have been saved by grace through faith. That is the only way it's doable.

1Co 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
1Co 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1Co 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

They were never saved.

They believed, but had no faith.

Even demons believe, That does not make them saved.

I just checked Mark's account of the sower and he doesn't say either that people didn't have eternal salvation. These parables are Jesus showing us how the word of God works in people's hearts.

It does say for those that have afflictions and persecutions because of the word...fall away. this word in the greek mean " to be offended"..and it also means to be a "trap" ..it has nothing to do people not having eternal salvation or having salvation at first and then losing it. This is called "reading" in the scriptures.

Parables of the kingdom are how things work ( or laws that govern how things occur ) in God's kingdom.

Where does it say that the person does not have eternal life in the sower sows the Word? I'm reading that now but no where in Matt 13 does it say that..I'll check Marks's account while you answer...thanks
