This is where the letter of the word is throwing us off...it says the husband of one wife...one wife..not 2 or 3 wives at the same time......this is where our religious teachings have made the intent of the word useless and void in some cases.
Come on now, the bishop is the foreshadow of The Bishop Jesus Christ. He only has one wife past present and future.

My answer will be adverse to your way of thinking, so I am not going to directly reply.
Suffice to say, that I am of the belief that the spirit of the law trumps the letter of the law.
You are arguing for the exact same stance the Pharisee's took regarding the law.
Your a modern day spirit killer.
And also I understand the context of the time it was written.
Last, I actually did answer it some many pages back.

Hmmmm exercising authority isn't good for a woman. Just because feminism says it's normal doesn't mean God changed. Teaching as a servant with covering yes, like Corrie ten Boom preached, awesome. But control is never good. Timothy had to rebuke an older man like a father. A woman rebuking a man or an older man? Neh.
Because she doesn't have wisdom from the Spirit on when someone needs a rebuke for their edification?
Or because she does but should never speak it?

Sorry I missed your response. By the way, what is the Spirit of the law?

Bishop simply means "overseer"...Jesus is the overseer of our souls 2 Pet. 2:25 and bishop ( pastor, elder ) is the overseer of the flock - a pastor..an elder..bishop...all the same person..

Nope God had two wives, Israel and Judah. One divorce and 3 weddings.

Well is Jesus the overseer of your soul. Does he have more than one wife?

A church building has nothing to do with this. The verses are talking about the meeting of the the body of Christ in an official way that we call church. A woman is not teacher. The chain of command goes as follows - God, Christ, the man, the woman and then the children.

If I as a man usurp Christ then God is not going to bless it, the same goes for the woman. If the woman tries to usurp the man then God is not going to bless it... it is not in God's divine order.

Hey thank you, that's what I said. The church is the people, not the building.
You said previously that women could not speak in the church but could speak
in their homes. But the body of Christ in the early church did meet in homes!

So I assume you mean (correct me if I have this wrong) that a woman is also
not allowed to speak in her own home if the body of Christ happens to be meeting
at her house.

The other question I referred to, is how many people would have to meet up
before that meeting was regarded as "the body of Christ doing church".
As I mentioned before, I have been to church hall meetings with as few as
7 people, but house church meetings with as many as 20.

Jesus himself said where 2 or 3 are gathered I am there. (Me paraphrasing)

Another person asked what happens if several friends meet up and a church
meeting breaks out. Are women then suppose to shut up.

I honestly have genuine reasons for asking your opinion and I am not
trying to tie you up in knots. I go to a church which including teens and
kids, easily exceeds 1000 people. It involves people from over 40 different
nationalities.

There are also over 300 house groups, these house groups include
church elders, leaders and pastors (we have 5 pastors).

If what you believe in was applied to my church, then well over half the
congregation (women and children) could never lead, teach, speak,
prophesy or take an active part in the house groups etc. Well over half the
church would never be allowed to use their gifts. The church would never grow,
yet it is growing substantially.

The other thing, maybe you just used the wrong word but you mentioned women usurping men.
To usurp means: take a position of power or importance illegally or by force.

Any person either man or woman who tries to force their position of preacher or leader on a
church, is in the wrong. No one said anything about women muscling in and
taking over. I think this is the problem, men seem to think women want to take over.

But what if the women under the authority and with the blessing of the church, preach
and take on positions of leadership. What if they lead bible studies, what if they are the
worship team leader, what if they are the head of their house group. What if they organise
the pray ministry, what if they are one of the leaders of the new life group, leading new
christians deeper into God. What if they help prepare people for baptism, what if they are
missionaries, etc.

How can a church grow and flourish if over half the members have their spiritual hands
tied behind their backs.

Incidentally we also have youth Sunday's when the youth group takes the entire service
and they do the preaching. There are some amazing Godly young people in the church.
But yet your chain of command would seem to put the youth at the bottom of the
spiritual food chain.

It also says in the bible let no one despise your youth.

1 Timothy 4:12 NKJV
[12] Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in
conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

LOL....did Jesus ever sin?..but the overseers that are people do and have sinned.....you can't make super spiritual assessments and comparisons between man and Jesus......your religious beliefs are blinding you to the truth of scriptures....IMO

Like a believer with an unsaved husband: saved without words by seeing her obedience, not teaching him out of: I know better and you have to listen to me.

How does this tie into what we are talking about? Am I missing something?
We need to pick a movie with a cast of characters and start naming everyone. This is unreal.
Anyone have a creative mind here? To do this?
I think he was using it to answer me as to why our way hasn't worked to bring unity in the Spirit. Which is why I asked if he could tie that in to, on this rock I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not overcome it.

So you believe God the Father and Jesus are the same?
No but He is One, Jesus is called eternal Father in Isaiah 9:6, because in Him the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily.

I don't see how it makes much of a difference. If he said silent in church's but not homes, what does that mean to you? Or what if it was both? I think he was referring to both, although I am not sure. I have never read any comments on it.
There was a lot of persecution. I don't think they ran around slapping up steeples to point the way to themselves and where they were gathering together. So most likely he did not mean both.

On the other hand, does it really matter is correct because trying to show Paul did not mean what he said or did mean what he said won't solve our dilemma, which is that Paul seems to contradict himself.

Continuing the same argument with one side picking the verse about no male or female and the other side picking the verse about women not speaking won't solve it or bring unity either.

Yeah what you described is church. Are you going against the bible... yes. If you're not then please explain how you are not going against the bible.

That a woman has to be silent is not in the law. It's only in the man made law from the pharisees. Paul just quoted them in 1 Timothy, like Jesus did: You say you don't have to look after your parents. You say: a woman has to shut up like the (your) law says. After that he uses sarcasm: did the Word only reach you?

The Bishop or overseer is a foreshadow of Christ. The qualifications laid out apply to Christ, sinful men have nothing to do with it.
