Something I've learned lately...

Being "weird" and functioning "differently" isn't as fun and glamorous as people/pop culture make it out to be.

Because when you think and process things differently, it's very easy to accidentally hurt people, and for them to misunderstand you completely.

And if people think you're smart, they assume you did it on purpose.

And it's not really anybody's fault, per se, because even though you're trying to understand and not hurt anyone, and they're trying to understand you and not hurt you, it's almost like you think in different languages.

And sometimes it's like the human version of Google Translate.

And things go horribly wrong.
 
Name one film (that's based off a book) that's better than the book version. I can't think of any! But I was wondering if anyone else could.

I always respond to this type of question with:

"This request is very close to impossible, and here's why. When you read a book, you use your own imagination, feelings, thoughts, points of reference, etc. You're given background, interior monologue, and other elements in a generally acceptable way (whereas in a movie, such things often come across as cheesy or require great amounts of narration). You see things the way you want them to be. You find things you relate with in the characters, places, etc. You form an image of the author, the story, etc that suites your own desires (whether consciously or subconsciously).

Then you have a movie...that's primary function is to make money. Story-telling, morals, and such are secondary traits in the film-making processes. Thus, the movie will reflect what the director, actors/actresses, and general masses want to see, hear, experience, etc (eg..will pay for).

There are many who write books for other reasons than money. There are few movies that exist outside of capitalism, because movies themselves are astronomically expensive to produce."

Hi folks

Tomorrow I start the training for the care home I am trying to get a summer job at.
Please pray I don't mess up. I've been almost half a year without a job now, and quite frustrated, so I'm probably not fully in work- mode yet :p I really, really need a job now, and I want to do it well, not just "meh".

Really? I thought the second half of the book was very good (in terms of story), but far out it was rushed. The first half I didn't care for much.

I didn't like the propaganda stuff. It was too much for my brain to process lol. I was only interested when they got Peeta back (brainwashed) but when they started shooting the propos and all, I don't know. I kinda expected it to turn out like a superhero story. I kinda dragged myself until the epilogue.

Ah, yes. It was definitely not a superhero story. I can see why you didn't enjoy it. No harm.

Or sometimes it could be that they just have different expectations of what weird is...
