If we were to "obey" Jesus' words then we would have repentance first ( which means in Greek to change the mind - which in this context means to rely on what God has done and not ourselves ) - then we believe and receive Christ, are sealed with the Holy Spirit when He baptizes us into the body of Christ. Then we get water baptized to show as a symbol what happened to us when we believed in Christ.

Mark 1:14-15 (NASB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP]
Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,
[SUP]15 [/SUP] and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."

Ephesians 1:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

Amen! We repent and believe the gospel and not the other way around. Water baptism FOLLOWS repent/believe the gospel/saved.

With His life in us - He will bear His fruit in and through us to walk in all that He bought for us and to do all that He wants to do through us by His grace working inside of us.

It's a good thing to give thanks.
Hard to do if I'm so busy telling ppl how obedient I am. :p

Thank you, Jesus, for saving me,
even while I was still a sinner, you died for me.
Thank you, Lord! \:D/
Thank you that this was your plan,
even from the foundation of the world.

Thank you for so many things, Lord,
most especially my Mom, ♡, and
Your Mom, Lord, and all the Mom's today.

Happy Mother's Day, everyone. Jesus loves you. Amen!

If you're lead by the Spirit you will forgive because He forgave you, but if you live in the flesh you still need to hear: forgive otherwise He won't forgive you.
Steve Hill from Brownsville spoke to backsliders but the christians that were lead by the Spirit felt condemned, so for them they had another Steve Hill with grace teaching.
the fact is if we will not forgive others, he will not forgive us. Jesus words, not mine. if anyone needs to omit Jesus words, they are denying Jesus words. The Lord. you guys can say anything , but if Jesus says different, I will believe Jesus.

oh lol, I guess I'm a self righteous guy lol obeying Jesus is what He taught, what he told his disciples to teach. sorry, I will just say the truth ,God knows my heart and no one elses judgements matter to me in any way. If a person cant accept His words, they should consider who it is they actually have faith in, obeying Jesus is absolutely the way

I'm Part of the Christian family who believes Jesus words and actually does what He says to do
You're on Planet Delusional if you think you're living the Gospel in a manner more righteously or obediently than anyone else. You think you're above others regarding your Christian walk but the truth is you have much to learn. You want to part ways with B1Davanda, a brother in Christ because you THINK he doesn't meet YOUR standards. Man, you have a Pharisaic complex for sure.

yes I couldn't argue. but that's what Jesus teaches, his first words of His ministry " repent for the kingdom of heaven is near." so yeah repentance is required, to change our mind, and believe in Jesus as the Lord.........If we believe Jesus is the Lord though, isn't there some point in all the grace and faith...where we should do what HE says to do? he doesn't teach the same things as the gospel of grace, or that once we say I believe were home free. that's not at all what Jesus teaches.

I haven't ever said works save, that's what people are seeing I guess, I'm saying if you are saved, youll go to work in obedience. learning the Lord because of all he has done. everything ive said, is supported By Jesus words in the 4 gospels. the things paul is writing, do not compare to the gospel, they are the key to understanding the atonements power to give rebirth. Paul is not the Lord. there is only One approved Lord. Jesus. you see when Jesus words and teachings oppose a doctrine clearly, the other doctrine has been proven false. Jesus is the truth. His words support my doctrine, I choose Jesus.

over the years ive heard so many ways to avoid it, lately its the pre cross post cross thing that really gets me, it basically nullifys all of Jesus words. But obviously He gave the great commission after the cross. and says plainly the foundation of everything after. go make disciples of all nations ( not any specific people but all) teaching them to obey everyuthoing I have commanded you." if a person doesn't want to have to give up their Lives to Jesus, they will avoid His gospel at all cost. even taking words paul wrote to point to the gospel, and making it seem as if the gospel doesn't matter in all this. Jesus is not only savior, He is Lord, if He is Lord all of His words are the same as the words of God.

To deny Jesus complete authority as the Lord, and also accept His word as such is not a Christian doctrine. Jesus doesn't teach the gog. so there has to be some reason to omit His gospel, which is the only Gospel, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I understand the doctrines out there are many and confusing. there is one that's true. it is to Learn and follow after Jesus. there are 4 accounts of the gospel in the bible. that is the gospel ,everything else we see in there from beginning to end is pointing to the gospel as spoken By Jesus. there is no valid argument against Jesus words. any Christian should understand who the Lord is.

a question, is anything Jesus said irrelevant to Christians?
Good morning Jason,

I trust you had/or will have a great visit with your mom today....:)

There are many things that Jesus said that do not apply to us today. We can learn a lot from what He has said to "others" though.

Jesus said to preach the gospel in Jerusalem and Judah, Samaria etc. In order to "obey" His command to do this - every believer would have to go to Jerusalem first in order to "obey" Jesus to preach the gospel.

Obviously we need to read the words of Jesus with spiritual insight from the Holy Spirit.

We need to look at who He was talking to and what was the purpose and then factor in what the cross of Jesus accomplished. We need to factor in the differences between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant.

Here is an example of Jesus giving a command but would have nothing to do with us although we can learn things from it.

The gospels are full of these instances.

Mark 11:2 (NASB)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] and *said to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here.

For me I couldn't read his posts because they became preachy. I prefer love and witness and praise and words from personal experience and heart. I felt the pride there and didn't read it.
You couldn't be more incorrect on your views of Grace777. Welcome to CC.

It's interesting when we actually look at what Jesus said in Matthew 28:20. The word here is actually "observe" which is a completely different word in Greek then for "obey".

Thayer's Greek Lexicon says that the word used here means A) to guard B) metaphorically, to keep C) to observe D) to reserve.

This means to guard what Christ has said to us. We need to always interpret all scripture with who is being spoken to in order to keep things in context because Jesus also said to cut your hands off and pluck out your eyes.

Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
[SUP]20 [/SUP] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen
.

Jesus was the greatest preacher of the law and the greatest preacher of grace.

For those people that are relying on what "they" do to establish their own righteousness - He gave them Moses 2.0

He elevated the law to a place where no one could do it. Like cut your hand off and pluck out your eye. Be perfect like the Father. If you even call someone a fool you have murdered them. If you lust in your heart you have committed adultery. Good luck with "obeying" these commands. Their whole purpose was to reveal our need for a Savior.

One of the purposes of the law was to increase sin ( Rom. 5:20 ) in us so that we will know we need a Savior. The law's purpose too lead us to Christ as Paul says in Galatians.

To those people who know they cannot "do" anything to create their own righteousness and needed a Savior - Jesus preached grace them to them. This is why crack addicts and prostitutes , thieves, etc understand grace and the self-righteous religious have a hard time with it. Especially "acceptance grace"

Jesus spoke wonderful words of life to all groups of people.
Jesus is brilliant at giving people exactly what they need. Consider the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11–32).

Some people love this story, others hate it. I’ve had people tell me, “I feel bad for the older brother. He worked so hard.” They say this because they are working hard. They are good and decent and can’t understand why Jesus would throw a party for prodigals and not for them. It troubles them that we are inside whooping it up while they’re outside working on their résumés.

The story is real. Every one of us is in it and everyone is invited to the party. Grace is for all. But you’re going to have trouble receiving it if you think of your heavenly Father as an employer. And that’s the whole point. You’re going to have to change your mind about God or you will never enjoy his love.

Words mean different things to different people. If you identify with the tax collector or the prodigal, the words of Jesus are packed with radical grace. You’ll read them with praise and thanksgiving and whoops of joy.

But if you identify with the Pharisee or the older brother, his words are extremely unsettling. They are serious words, not fun at all.
Don't take someone else's medicine.

Yet if you allow them, the words of Jesus will change you. They will strip you of your religion and reveal your need for grace.

if you understand Jesus words, plucking the eye out, shows us how serious we need to be about ridding our lives of sin. the lesson is its better to lose the sin than go to hell. the fact is though, obeying Jesus gospel is what He said to do and teach all men. he said this after the cross so.....bro anytime something doesn't fit the gog, you have to search and go into greek terms n what something " really means' ......if any doctrine or belief requires omission of Jesus words, or we have to make it different than whats there......its not the true Gospel. the gospel accounts are matt mark luke and John. Jesus words are for every follower, every person who claims Jesus . His words are now Gods words, they will not change, ever be insignificant to any person who claims His death, they also yoke themselves to Him as Lord and master. that's Just what the word says. I'm not in total disagreement with you, you always have some good things to say. Jesus words will absolutely change us, that's what I am saying to everyone, that's the gospel Jesus words, that's the power Jesus words. that's our new Life, Jesus words........

If a person will do what I have been saying, just learn and take them as the truth which they Just are, they will then see Him saying the things Hes actually saying. when you look at the gospel its a mirror, you see you, you see all your imperfections. if your rich and trust in money, He calls for you to give it up and follow Him, if your a lustful person, He calls for you to give it up.......to learn and do the things in the gospel is what transforms us into His likeness. Faith is not knowing its true, but believing it enough to apply it, trusting He said it, the Lord. swo we Know with fuill confidence Jesus said it its right it will work. Just like peter in the boat. He knew it was the Lord, so He stepped..........

you guys have identified me as trying to earn salvation, for believing in Jesus words. He doesn't teach the gog. He teaches obedience to His commands. that's the gospel. if someone believes in Jesus words, its because they have faith in Him and actually are bound to Him as their Lord....He is the one who says obey my commands

She the soul is never free...she's either wearing His Mind or else deluded and captive to the self-rule and pride of the fall. Freedom is an illusion of the fallen context.

The soul is not strong. She's easily confused and pretty helpless. She needs to turn someplace to be soothed and for strength. So she turns to this world and its accomplishments - infinite ones (idols). Or, she dies to this world and turns to God.

The problem of dying is that the soul is so glued to the finite self, the I and its prideful attachments. The I is the fallen consciousness/mind that attaches the poor soul to its beliefs and false goals. The soul is so identified with this fallen way of being that she thinks that to deny the I, the pride-filled fallen "form of self", would be to deny herself. This is the confused condition of the soul in this world. To confuse herself with the fallen mind.

I feel that to fix the situation is something no soul can "accomplish." Only He can change us, so we can wear His mind and experience our new being. To trust and to surrender mean to give up on self-rule and surrender to Him. Because the natural man only can continue deluded - even if very earnestly parroting the right words.
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah . . .

Paul had a text that we forgive if we are forgiven, so you don't need the 'you have to' preaching if you walk in the Spirit and already immediately forgive, is all I meant to say.
Against those who walk in the Spirit there is no law.

No reflection on e_v_e's post, but the other day I was reading a book about Islam. and as many Christians don't know, the book is in complete disarray as far as the chronological order and also in the way it continually repeats the same the thought sometimes literally hundreds of times. It is the opposite of the bible in that the bible is in, mostly, chronological order and is economically written.
The author said that because the book says the same thing over and over again ad nauseam and is not in chronological order, the muslims consider this profound.

Jason, no one has said not to "obey" Christ. That is a thought that you constructed in your mind and then accuse others of not "obeying Christ".

A number of people have told you this yet you keep saying that people are not "obeying" Jesus despite how many times you are told the complete opposite.

Is it possible that what you are really saying is "If you do not interpret Jesus's words like I do - then you are not obeying Jesus"???

This is what is being seen in your posts by some. We know you love the Lord and that is beautiful and we encourage you to continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord. He will be faithful to you.

This discussion has been going on now for 25 pages and the same things are being said and no matter how many times people say believers are to obey Christ - you say believers in the grace of Christ for salvation only " do not want to obey Jesus' words".

This is obviously not going to be going anywhere productive as the conditions are not here for a healthy dialogue. I'm bowing out of this and I wish you well my brother! God bless you abundantly

lol yeah specific command for one purpose is different than His teachings, you understand that haha but good point. the teachings of Jesus are for every Christian, I'm sorry ill never let that belief get corrupted, its taken me years to grasp it in the world of shady doctrines. definitely need to pray for wisdom. But wisdom is the gospels, its Jesus. there is a clear difference between the teachings and principles, the lessons. and an individual command......the teachings and ways of Jesus. see like " pray for those who persecute you, bless those who curse you"

that's not a stone Law, its a principle, a spiritual command of Jesus. so in different situations the spirit of that command is to bless those who curse you. the situations are all different in our Lives, but the principle applies to any follower and believer. we are to pray for our enemies, bless the ones who curse us ......the commands and teachings of Jesus are a way of Life, they are spiritual truth, they will always work if followed, always be approved By God.

the lessons and principles are alive they will always give us the right thing to do. The teach9ings of Jesus are the gospel. teachings, lessons. ur right, when he individually said go get that colt......were not all supposed to go get a colt in Jerusalem...........im not sure if ur makin a joke or being serious with that one. My stance will never be different friend, and I do consider you a friend. the gospel is our Lives because Jesus paid the price to make it so. and the gospel is Jesus and His teachings to His followers. that's kinda why my message is this : if anyone will go to their own Bible, ask God, and study the 4 gospel all of Jesus teachings, miracles, words ect......they will see for themselves. Just by prayer and study. to me that's a pretty simple thing to say to Christians. Go for ourself to the bible, pray in Jesus name for God to give wisdom, study the Lord Jesus and all will be clear to anyone who wants to know

yep those who actually WALK in the spirit. but Jesus words are there for a reason. the ones who don't think they need to forgive, need to Hear Jesus say you need to forgive as I forgave you. he does say this, even to a person iun the spirit, sometimes its not easy to forgive a great wrong that's done to us or a loved one. Jesus teachings are there for a very important reason. and He does teach that if we are forgiven, we forgive, and He does make a very clkear point of How God will treat us if we do not forgive others. its never wrong to learn and follow Jesus. all of His words and teachings matter. I do understand you tho. its about actually walking, that's faith. we stumble, there is forgiveness, but we press on in Jesus. its not Like the spirit makes us do anything, we have to follow after the spirit in Jesus words
