Purgatory or heaven's suburb. I don't see why we would not identify "outer darkness" as a description of hell. The Greek phrase employed here is used three times in Matthew 8:12; 22:13; 25:30. The question is how does Matthew use the phrase "outer darkness" in these three passages?

In these three passages the phrase "gnashing of teeth" is linked to the "outer darkness" in all three passages. We should consider Matthew’s usage and meaning of the phrase "gnashing of teeth" which is also used in Matthew 13:42 and 50, where it is linked to being "cast into the furnace of fire" and in Matthew 24:51, where the individual is "cut up and assigned a place with the hypocrites." This clearly sounds like hell to me and not purgatory or heaven's suburb.
Where God will have people, who don’t obey him, go when they die is truly not my concern. But the idea that one becomes saved, meaning they will live with God forever, and doing so without obeying God, is something that just is not true.

It is not a theology that any Christian believed for the first sixteen hundred years. How people can believe that it took all those years to make people aware of the true gospel is something only Satan could convince people of.

But if people don’t truly have the Holy Spirit guiding and teaching them, they need to believe that God excepts everyone into his kingdom.

(Romans 8:1-4) “The reason, therefore, why those who are in Christ Jesus are not condemned, is that the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. God has done what the Law, because of our unspiritual nature, was unable to do. God dealt with sin by sending his own Son in a body as physical as any sinful body, and in that body God condemned sin he did this in order the Law’s just demands might be satisfied in us, who behave not as our unspiritual nature but as the spirit dictates.”

Being a truly saved person does not mean he or she is a Child of God, and will go to heaven with Jesus. You have no scripture that tells me that is wrong. Being saved does not mean one is going to heaven.

A Child of God is one who keeps God’s Word. Jesus told us that is who will go to heaven with him.

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who has been begotten by God sins; because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God. In this way we distinguish the children of God from the children of the devil: anybody not living a holy life and not loving his brother is no child of God’s.”

(John 12:47-48) “If anyone hears my words and does not keep them faithfully, it is not I who shall condemn him, since I have come not to condemn the world, but to save the world: he who rejects me and refuses my words has his judge already: the word itself that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day.”

(Matthew 7:21) “It is not those who say to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, who will enter the kingdom of Heaven but the person who does the will of My Father in Heaven. When the day comes many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, cast out demons in your name, work many miracles in your name?’ Then I shall tell them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, you evil men!”
Yes it does...for it is GOD'S WORK alone.
A truly saved person means that HE did the work and called whom HE called into fellowship with HIS SON.
And that not for destruction....

(1Corinthians 1:8)

If you love HIM you will keep HIS COMMANDS.
Whoever loves ME, MY FATHER will love and ((WE)) will come and make our home with HIM.

As to Matthew 7, who would say these things?
Lord, Lord didn't (((I)))?

We did nothing and could do nothing apart from HIM.
Anyone who professes, Lord,Lord didn't (((I)))) doesn't know as he should know.

One who proclaims Jesus’ name will be saved from going to Hell, but that does not mean he or she will go to Heaven. Scripture does not say what one will be save from, but it does say what one needs to do to go to heaven.
Did you ever think that maybe there is a place that is not heaven or hell, that one will be punished in forever? Not being in Heaven with God is punishment enough, but Jesus described the place vary harshly.
Absent from the body (for those who are In Christ Jesus) is present with the Lord.
CHRIST addressed two people:

Those who believed in HIM, HE said, you can not follow ME now...but you will later
Those who didn't believe HE said, you can not follow ME...where I am going, you can not come....and...if you do not believe I AM HE, ye shall die in your sins.

More proof than one’s assumption that saved means one will go to Heaven.

(Matthew 22:13-14) “Bind him hand and foot and throw him out into the dark, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth”. -For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Jesus did not say throw him to hell.

(Hebrews 10:26-31) “If, after we have been given knowledge of the truth, we should deliberately commit any sins, then there is no longer any sacrifice for them. There is left only the dreadful prospect of judgment and of the fiery wrath that is to devour your enemies--------“:

Again Jesus did not say they would be punished in hell.
The opposite of LIGHT is darkness.
Two kingdoms...GOD transferred us out of the kingdom of darkness into the KINGDOM of LIGHT in HIS SON whom HE loves.

There is only two places to be.

In HIS PRESENCE...or shut out from HIS PRESENCE.
The Kingdom of LIGHT...or the kingdom of darkness...

And only two feasts being prepared:

The wedding feast of the lamb
And that other feast (revelation 19)

Do you understand what it means to believe in Jesus? One has to be in Jesus to believe in him.

(1 John 2:6) “But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did”

I believe that it my have been my misunderstanding of your post that had me ask you the above question.

Yes, I know faith also is a gift from GOD.
HE said...HE came for judgment, didn't HE...so that those who are blind would see and those who see will be made blind...and that in them is the prophecy of Isaiah fulfilled.

You see, if one truly believed in HIM, they would come to HIM so as to be healed
It's just that some do not even believe they are sick therefore they do not believe they need a Physician.

"be ever seeing, and never seeing...ever hearing but never hearing lest they should understand with the (eyes and ears of - my emphasis) Heart...turn and HE should heal them.

The thing is that those who have heard HIS VOICE and have turned and have been healed...know they have been healed...and they know that it wasn't anything that they did at all. It was by HIS STRIPES we were healed..

And they simply heard HIS VOICE, believed in THE GOSPEL and were baptized into HIM and have passed from death to LIFE...reborn of the IMPERISHABLE SEED of CHRIST, a new creation...marked as belonging to GOD in HIS SON...

Yes...I know this anointing is real.
And it is the reason why no man will ever be able to convince us otherwise.
We know who we learned of and from whom we learned it.
And it wasn't from a man.

And by the way, JohnLOVE..if you also know this then why don't you believe that ALL GOD'S PROMISES are AMEN for those who are in CHRIST JESUS...
Or if GOD is for us, who can be against us?

Why don't these scriptures also come to mind if you understand in order to believe in CHRIST, one has to be IN HIM
And one can't really force themselves in HIM...one can't baptize themselves into CHRIST...that's GOD'S WORK...by HIS SPIRIT...

What do you mean you misunderstood my post?
What did you think I was saying by absent from the body is present with the Lord?
If one has already passed from death to life...because HE said, anyone who hears my voice and believes in the ONE who sent ME has eternal life, and shall not come into condemnation...he has already passed from death to Life...

wouldn't that mean that they are saved?

It has been so rare that anyone has understood what Jesus has me share, that I seem to have gotten into that habit of believing everyone is blind to the truth. Because of that I so misread what you posted. I am glad that it was brought to my attention that I was wrong.

You are right man can’t ever bring one to know God.

Sir, I am not sure if I am understanding you correctly...it isn't man's work, it's GOD'S, yes...but HE told us to "go"...

Now, I am not sure if you are telling me that we shouldn't do what we were called to do, since we know that it is GOD alone who opens the eyes and ears of the heart to the TRUTH of HIS WORD. But if we decided that because it is all HIS WORK, that we don't have to go and cast the seeds of LIFE and let them fall where they will fall, knowing that GOD'S WORD will go out and accomplish HIS purpose and will not return to HIM void...that HE alone will bring the increase...than we are nothing but lazy and wicked servants.

Even with natural eyes, can't we understand that if one has been called to work in his employer's field and decides rather to hoard the seeds...than he is the one who steals from and hinders what could have come up in his master's field.

The only way I have come to know God is by having Jesus/Holy Spirit personally teaching me to know God. I am a servant of God, and do all God tells me to do. The only way that I am able to obey God at all time is because he has given me the grace to always obey him.

You write a lot, but you do not make me understand you. Nice words don’t mean that one is nice.

Wow! I must have hit a nasty nerve in you.
Oh no, not at all.
In fact I would keep your "insight" into the spirits of men only into your own spirit.
As you know according to THE WORD of TRUTH, no one can even know the spirit of a man, save that man...
So you would do better to remember that your opinion of others is just that...an opinion, which may or may not hold true of that person.

Which is why one is told not to judge anything before the time.

You see, when I said no man can teach another man "Know the Lord"...and that because this anointing is real, we know who we learned of and from whom we learned it...

I was considering "we" meaning ALL who have heard the VOICE of THE SON of GOD and have believed and who have been gathered up, transferred out, and are seated in the heavenly realms with (and IN) CHRIST JESUS...

I wasn't saying we meaning you and I as if I were somehow separating myself from ALL who believe and are members of HIS BODY...I was saying we as ALL...with one no greater than or less than the other.

Johnlove,

Review your "love"...
You were not sent to somehow protect THE LORD...
You were sent to love all men...to let your light/love shine on all men...not to be selective in that "light/love" because you have a LORD and you do not know the work that HE is doing in all men...

Work on yourself...and guard your heart and love all men as you would love your own soul!
