I don't think i've ever "talked" with dead people. That sort of sounds like I'm standing around the grill talking sports with Casper. It's a lot more spiritual for me and to be honest - I rarely ask saints for intercession to pray for me. Just my personal thing. I just believe it's possible and it's supported by scripture. Now - here's something I will admit. I have seen with my own eyes Catholics who actually DO pray to saints including Mary. In other words - the prayer is constructed in such a way as to put the saint on the same level as God. And I think that is a practice that is wrong, but is born from the habit of asking a saint to intercede for you and I think sometimes a line is crossed whereby they think requesting something from a saint is the same as petitioning to God. Of course that's wrong and is clearly contrary to doctrine, but I think it can give a poor impression or be very confusing to those who are not Catholic.
Jesus' death on the cross tore the curtain from top to bottom and made it possible for us to enter the temple directly....did it not? So my question is.....why do we need the saints help when we have direct access to God thru Jesus?

Saul sought out a medium (the witch) and conjured up spirits for his personal gain. That is sin. Jesus in Luke 9:29-31 spoke with the physically dead "And as [Jesus] was praying, the appearance of his countenance was altered, and his raiment became dazzling white. And behold, two men talked with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was to accomplish at Jerusalem."

There is a distinct difference between going to mediums or sorcerers and conjuring up spirits and communicating (as Jesus did) with spirits that physically died in friendship with God.
typical of RCs to quote a unique event from the llfe of Jesus. Jesus did not pray to Moses and Elijah. they were sent by God to witness to Him as the Son of God.

Yes! Of course we have direct access to God through Christ. I explained all this in post #265 so I won't go through it again, but theoretically we don't need ANYONE'S help It's just that it's good and pleasing to God for us ALL to intercede for each other in prayer.

It would be typical because it would be true. Jesus did speak to Moses and Elijah and Peter was a witness. And of course they were sent by God. If you don't believe it, then that's on you.

Why would anyone want to endorse a lie?
Maybe the same reason People hate others because they are different.
Do u feel any shame at all for using a dead mans funeral to push your own personal opinions?

Is this a serious question or are you fooling people..
It is a serious question/statement.

The Bishop of Rome has endorsed and forgiven the murder of millions of innocent people.

Rome has fought against the Bible and hidden it from people for hundreds of years.

The teachings of Rome, infant baptism, Rome's forgiving of sin, prayers to "saints" and the dead spirits, are leading people down the path to darkness, not to the light.

This is THE most profound question you've asked. This was the moment of the Transfiguration of Christ. This is when Peter James, and John personally saw the transfiguration of Christ dressed in dazzling white. Moses and Elijah talked with Jesus about his impending death (physical death). Symbolically, Moses and Elijah represented the law but when God instructed Peter to "Listen to Him" it clearly shows us the passing of the law to give way to Christ. It was allowed to be witnessed by these followers so that they could understand just a little of the glorification of Christ and the Kingdom of God. A Kingdom where those under God's Grace do reside in eternal LIFE witnessed by the appearance of Moses and Elijah who were dead in body but alive in spirit. A Kingdom far surpassing our understanding but that fully understands this paltry earth. Fully understands our bodily limitations and fully understands our attempts to grasp our faulty wisdom. Fully hears us all. No, Jesus was not praying for intercession. Rather, his disciples were shown with their own eyes the majesty and possibility of Heaven. It's a living place. And no, I don't pray to dead bodies rotting in the ground. Rather, I can ask you to pray for me or I can ask a saint. I believe this because I believe in the majesty of God.

Romans 8:26-27
[SUP]26 [/SUP]In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; [SUP]27 [/SUP]and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

When we pray to God its the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us. He interceded for us Saints!

Do you not know we ARE Saints! Every True Christian is a Saint.

Why would we ever need to pray to Mary? Who is greater? God or Mary? GOD!!!!!

You are wasting your time praying to Mary because the Holy Spirit only intercedes for us Saints to God. The Holy Spirit does not intercedes between us and Mary because MARY IS NOT GOD!

In fact praying to Mary is a Mortal sin.

Exodus 20:3-

[SUP]3 [/SUP]“You shall have no other gods before Me.

[SUP]4 [/SUP]“You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. [SUP]5 [/SUP]You shall not worship them or serve them

Clearly making a likeness of Mary IS a Mortal sin!

Every time you pray to a statue or picture of Mary you are serving her and that is a Mortal sin ever time you do it.

Repent! Reject your false god Mary! Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior before its too late and God removers His offer.

well you can ask someone who is rotting in the ground, for they will not hear you In Heaven. They are too busy worshipping God. And ALL God's people are saints. Your idea has nothing to do with the majesty of God.

Matthew 18:19-20 NKJV
[19] "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that
they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. [20] For where two or
three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

Can't see anything in this verse about dead saints in heaven joining in with our
prayers or that Mary will intercede on our behalf ... Just saying.

so when you are transfigured, you can talk with those who have gone on before you.
meanwhile, contacting dead people is necromancy.

you say 'o but Saul did it for personal gain, that's different' -- why does any catholic pray? and what's the justification for praying to a dead woman again -- oh yes, because you're seeking the personal gain of her additional influence. and you're making yourself the 'medium' that summons the spirit of the dead.

Jesus wasn't praying or asking these two to intercede or mediate for Him. and He was transfigured & glorified. when you become transfigured and glorified, maybe you'll have a case -- but that moment has not yet 'arrived' -- and i don't care how sweet and innocent you make it sound, or how lightly you have personally dipped your toe into this dark water, because the fact remains that 'prayers' which are actually taught to children to pray to the dead are like this one:

My Queen, My Mother, I offer
myself entirely to thee.
And to show my devotion to thee,
I offer thee this day, my eyes,
my ears, my mouth, my heart,
my whole being without reserve.
Wherefore, good Mother, as I am thine own, keep me, guard me as thy property and possession.
Amen.

none of you seem to want to touch that one, do you?
or even admit that this is what the RCC actually teaches?
do you care to admit how blasphemous it is?

or this one, also liturgically recited by millions and taught by your priests

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that any one who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help
or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
We fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins my Mother;
to thee do we come, before thee we stand, sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not our petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer them. Amen.

this prayer is asking for Mary's mercy, and asking for Mary to answer petitions. this prayer praises Mary for her eternal faithfulness to protect and aid all who put their trust in her. this prayer magnifies her as the one before whom all sinners stand.
you don't think that's a wee-bit of "replacing the actual Savior with a goddess" ?

like a dragon speaking sweetly & deceitfully, your careful words drawing attention from the sharp talons and smoldering ruin that are even now creeping closer to their prey. but we smell the sulfur.

it's not "o some misinformed heretical catholics may take this too far but certainly not us smart and enlightened guys, so that's fine" -- it's the actual teaching of Rome, who is all the ready to prostrate itself to and accommodate anyone whose predilection is to join an Ashereh to their Ba'al: a fertile 'queen of heaven' and 'mother of us all' whose statuettes they may kiss as they put all their faith in her.

Wow. Well - not sure how to respond other than to say I think it's better if I just don't respond at all! I was just sharing my own faith and having discussion and that has clearly upset some folks which was not my intention at all. So, I think I'll just refrain from responding going forward. Very sorry and God bless -

Wow. Well - not sure how to respond

of course not;
you have no answer because there is no answer. there is no justification for idol worship & joining other gods to the Lord, even though they are not 'gods' at all -- and the innocent descriptions you guys are trying to pass off may sound great, but there is an underlying reality that is inexcusable.
when that underbelly becomes exposed, you have no answer. you have no reply. there simply is nothing left to say.

and don't go acting as though "post sure is nuts, i dunno where this comes from.. "
this is a big deal. and it's real
this is real enough for tens of thousands of men to willingly go to their deaths over - to be burned at the stake by your bishops for 'heresy' because they exposed the blasphemies in the heart of Rome and made it possible for you to read the scripture in your own language.
this is real and it is important enough for the reformation to have actually happened - to live and die for, to oppose the wickedness of a corrupt 'church' and live for the truth, the truth of the one true God and His gospel as it is actually given to mankind, not as it is molested and changed by wicked men.

& this is by no means just about Mary-worship. and it is not at all about you, personally, so don't act surprised - but it sure personally affects you, if you are catholic.
you know this is what's coming.

i just got one question for all of you catholics -- when you're sitting at mass, and you hear and perceive your 'priest' blaspheming, having read the scripture yourself and knowing in your heart how what he says opposes it, are you going to walk out and follow the Spirit?
or are you gonna squeeze your eyes shut and go with the status quo?

Never heard a priest do that. Would you do the same if your preacher blasphemes?

No no - you misinterpreted why I didn't respond. I didn't want to respond to YOU. Not on account of any discussion or debate. When someone (you) use language like "..ike a dragon speaking sweetly & deceitfully, your careful words drawing attention from the sharp talons and smoldering ruin that are even now creeping closer to their prey. but we smell the sulfur." then there's no discussion. Just some creepy rants of whatever Westboro church you go to. I don't have problems debating and I might even learn something. I do have problems with this nonsense. So, no - don't flatter yourself.
