Wanna marry me? :p

I hate the idea of a stiff, formal wedding. I'd rather give everyone instructions to bring wellies and go hike in the woods :p
Am I the only one that doesn't know what a wellie is?
I have no idea either. I just wasn't gonna ask. I just nodded my head and acted like I knew what was being said. I am curious, though.

Wow that's quite an age/maturity difference b/c most teen 18 yo guys are immature and you would have been more mature after being in college for a few years it would have probably been like baby-sitting for you lol.....
He was actually one of my brother's best friends so I was used to seeing him around, but yeah...

I'm sure it's for the best that he didn't ask... and I didn't go.

But just for a moment... It kinda sounded like fun. :D

Lol don't feel bad, I had no idea until a couple months ago my sister has a pair and I asked where did you get the fancy rain boots? To which I was schooled by my fashionista sister that they were "wellington boots" (said with high english accent and stiff upper lip you know how britz say words lol).....

I went to prom too.. Wore a blue dress but didn't have a date. Maybe I had one, but it was so awkward I have removed it from my memory.

* Did you go to your prom?
- YEZ

* Who was your date? Who did you want to ask (or want to ask you), but did not?
- Let's not talk about my date (we had an option to not choose and let the teachers assign a partner to us lol and I chose that instead). The guy I wanted to ask was my guy friend who treated me like a sister. But I really liked him T_T. He asked my other girl friend who prolly dressed like a witch that night. I didn't join the dance cause I sang a couple love songs (some Jim Brickman stuff). The dude I liked danced with his date and his eyes were all hearts hearts, it was disgusting. No it was devastating! All the while, I was on stage singing my broken heart out. After that, I left. Also I had a curfew plus my parents were just outside the building waiting for me to come out.

* What did your dress/tux/outfit look like?
- Something blue. I can't remember. It was prolly ugly.

Aw... Abi... *HUGS*

This just makes me want to kidnap my CC little sister for a day and take her somewhere fun.

How about Disneyland, my sweet?

You could sing to your heart's content... and then tell what's-his-name to eat his heart out. :)

Not only didn't I go to any proms, most of the people I knew didn't go either. It was something like the Friday Night weekly dance. People into that stuff went every week, while the rest of us just went about our normal lives.

I went to three high schools in four years. The one I went to twice I went to as a freshman and then a junior, so I was perpetually "the new kid." The thing I learned was roughly half to three quarters of students don't go to proms. And it's something like not going to football games -- often we hear there was a prom the week after it.

I didn't get into dancing until college, so proms? Why would I want to go to a dance when I didn't like dancing?

(Full confession. I did go to seventh grade dances, but boys only wanted to dance, and only with me, when it was a slow dance. And the boys who asked were the shortest boys in the class. Meanwhile, I was the tallest and developed early, so I knew why they wanted to slow dance, so never would.)

Prom? We had a school leavers dance in my part of the World. This was a DJ/band with snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. The "Feds" (school prefects/monitors) notify the graduating classes that they are setting up a committee. A committee is formed to plan the event with a theme etc. Decor, music, snacks etc are decided on. Then after final exams the graduating students dress up and show up. They have a blast! Until midnight, when the teacher on duty turn on the bright lights and tell everyone to go home! This is not unlike Cinderellas story here in terms of the crash back to reality. But hey, they had a memorable send off.

Ummm...I didnt go. I mean...midnight???

Yup that's pretty close to a prom...it's also done late in the year but I think your idea of a end of school party would be more fun than some stuffy old prom lol :)

I never cared about school events. I think some of my friends and I spent that night playing Halo 2 lol. I did get asked to go, but it just wasn't my thing and there's no way that you're ever getting me into a tux XD. The only thing like that I ever did was that I went to the winter prom or wotever it's called with someone from a different school at their school lol.

As I recall I elected not to go to the prom because it had a strong air of "things adults think kids will like because of their own Nostalgia" feel to it.

I stayed home and watched RoboCop, the television show. From what I gather I didn't miss much, because nobody was talking about what a great prom it was next week at school.

Help! I Think I Might Be Addicted to... Prom!!!

I can see it now. The scene is the weekly meeting of the local chapter of PromAnon.

"Hello. My name is Kim. And I'm a promaholic."

CHORUS: "Hi Kim."

"It started innocently enough of course. I wanted to go to my big brother's prom and I nagged him so much until he finally said I could go. I put on makeup, wore really high heels and stuffed my shirt. It was a big city, not one of those small towns where everybody knew everybody, so my brother could get away with saying I was his date. I guess it was kind of weird that I practiced every day for two months walking in those heels just so I could pull it off at the prom, but all I could think about was how exciting it would be."

*A few other people in the group nod their heads as if to say "know where you're coming from."

"But by the time I was sixteen I was keeping a calendar of prom dates for all the high schools in five counties. I wore different wigs and I got really good at applying makeup so people wouldn't know I was me, and I found out I have a genius for talking guys into doing things, so I could always get one of them to take me as a date. I can't even guess how much I spent on prom dresses, because I had to be careful not to wear the same one to proms that were too close together or someone would notice. I still don't really know why I started getting hooked on proms. Maybe it was the excitement of seeing all the dresses the girls almost had on, or maybe it was the dancing, or maybe I just liked the punch made from orange sherbet and ginger ale. Whatever it was, I was hooked. I had to keep going to any prom I could get to. When the prom season was over I was so worn out I would sleep for three days or so, and my hands didn't stop shaking until almost July."

*A scattering of sniffles can be heard among the group as others relive in memory their own experiences with this addiction.

"And now here I am, way too old to be a prom queen, but I just can't stop going to proms. Sometimes I sneak in and pretend to be a teacher until the other teachers realize they don't recognize me and they throw me out. I don't care, I just have to be there. A few times I've snuck into the school gym two days earlier and lived like a hobo up in the rafters, just so I could watch the prom from up there. All the people I know have told me to stay away from their children because they know I'll ask their kids if they can smuggle me into their school building on prom night. *sob* I even still buy fancy prom dresses, though I know I'll never be able to wear them and blend in with the kids at the prom anymore. Prom addiction has just made a mess of my life! I don't have any friends anymore, my car is worn out from traveling to different schools and all my credit cards are maxed out from those dresses. *shuddering sob* I just can't go on any longer like this!

*Kim collapses in tears as the group leader pats her awkwardly on the shoulder.

I went Junior year. I went because I was tired of my parents asking me every week if I was gay. I figured going to prom would shut them up. It did.

We went to supper, ate, went to prom, had this picture taken. We didn't dance. She wanted to leave early to go to a party. I said "no". I told her I would drop her off at her house and she could go do whatever. She agreed. I dropped her off, then went home. I was out of the monkey suit by 9:30 pm. Prom, DUN. Ta-Da!

I didn't bother with Senior Prom. Blech.
