absolutely. he was telling the good folks at Colossae to not let their pagan neighbors judge them because they WERE observing God's dietary laws and God's holy days!!

When have you ever seen pagans judge someone over observing religion?
The ones doing the judging are the same ones still doing the judging. Those with the heart of the pharisee.
If you want to follow God you must keep this day.
If you want to follow God you must not eat these foods.

It wasn't the pagans that Christians were having problems with. It was Judaizers who want to continue to place Christians under the law.
But Christians continue to separate themselves from the Jews who attempt to keep the law. It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to not be under the law but still observe a 7th day sabbath. It would make more sense to pick the day that your Lord and Saviour actually resurrected to meet instead.
