Because woman do not place a mans beauty as a high factor in their considerations when it comes to their selection of a man..
Oh, we so do!

Granted, we can also define "beauty" in as many ways as we can define the color purple, but there really has to be something beautiful about the guy, or it's not working for us. (Ruggedly handsome, eyes twinkle when laughs, and laughs easily, boyishly handsome, beautiful heart, football playerly handsome, doeful eyes when he's "really listening," "just the right height," passionate, plays guitar/video games/music/frisbee/innocent just like I like, etc.) It may not be something visual that others catch, but trust me, it is very visual.

Just like there is a gal that makes you go dink when you first see her, some guys make us go dink. (Dink -- when we sit up and take notice instantly.)

Two things to add:
In the 1800s in American, boys wore pink and girls wore blue. I do think it has something to do with societal norms at the moment, but norms change. (I also think men should just get over it and carry a pocketbook. They don't have to call it a pocketbook, but seems silly to shove cellphones, gadgets, doohickeys, keys, comb, wallet, etc. into assorted pockets constantly. Who has that many pockets?)

AND, we just came back from the drug store. The guy in front of us was one of those guys who was trying to enlarge his earlobes by wearing increasingly larger earrings. He stopped. He's in his late 20s to early 30s, and he has the earlobes of a man in his 90s. (Just thought that was funny after the earring thread. lol)

Well i was talking about visual physical beauty only.. So things like Laughing and their heart and passion cultural abilities like instrument playing. innocence.. So these things are not Physical beauty.. that are personality traits and addons apart from physical beauty..

I would also have to disagree with the women not caring about a mans physical appearance comment : p I know for a fact that that is not true, haha.

Also, I totally carry a over the shoulder back pack.

I carry so many things on me, and I remember when I left my old life behind, I missed having something to carry everything in, so my mom actually helped me find one : p

I never understood carrying your wallet, keys, phone, headphones (I know alot of people who listen to music as they walk like I do) and everything else they do in their pockets : p Id rather have something to keep it all in.

There is an interesting thread in the women's forum about make up at the
moment and I just wondered, why don't men wear make up. :)

Or do you?

Under what circumstances might you wear it.

Would you expect your wife/gilrfriend to wear make up and why, what circumstances.

Would it bother you if she didn't wear make up?
Humorous for sure, years ago I worked in the ship repair business, there was a older dude around 60 or so at that time, and He used to wear foundation cream that brown stuff lol... He would sweat and streaks came down his face, I found out he had it on because he didn't like his wrinkles in the mirror...

It seems if a person who has purple on all the time then switches to black one day it looks out of place...
This is probably the same with makeup, if a woman wears it all the time, the man never really gets to see the real face behind the makeup. So when the makeup comes off, the face will look different until that person gets use to the woman not weary makeup.

My aunt was telling me that during the war days, when women couldn't afford
stockings. They would all draw a brown line up the back of their leg to make it look like
they were wearing stockings. Also they use to stain their legs with tea bags. Lol

Apparently it worked pretty well until it rained!

I saw laughter in my husband's eyes. A real twinkle. (I can tell between a I-should-laugh-here look and pure unadulterated laughter -- like dancing when no one is looking.) Playing innocent doesn't work for me, but there is a look when the person plays the part that some find very appealing. Guitar playing? Still a look. Even Clapton can't do it right until he gets the look. (His eyes close, his chin goes up, and the guitar goes down a little further.) It really is visual. It's micro expressions that say something about what a person is feeling, but we -- all of us, male or female -- see it. And it works. And it is beautiful (even if I'm not interested in Clapton on a romantic level, there really is something on how he does that that lights the music on fire. Beautiful -- visually, skill level, and emotionally.)

Yup. That's what guys do -- backpack or messenger bag. I do backpack when I know I'm going to need more room to bring something home. (Usually walking to the grocery store.) And I kept looking for a messenger bag last year, because I was often bringing or taking something from John's room, BUT not enough to warrant full-fledged backpack size. (Usually laundry and music back and forth.)

Best I could find that looked feminine was a diaper bag, but I'm not walking around with duckies or baby bottles on it, even if it was feminine looking. That's where I draw the line. No 60-year-old woman should be carrying a diaper bag as a pocketbook. lol

You should see Katie Couric without her makeup. She looks her age (finally. lol)

Mom used eyeliner on her legs, but specifically because the stockings with the line were more expensive, and I got my refined ladylike characteristics (None) from Mom. Guaranteed when we wore stockings we'd have a run in them before it was time to take them off. For her, it was to hide the run. (Didn't work at all, when that's where the run was. lol)

"Question for men - why don't you wear make up?"

Question for women - why DO you wear the stuff?

Make up turns a normal woman into an illusion that you can't touch. You can't kiss her, can't stroke her cheek. can't wipe away a tear, can't touch her at all... and you don't know what she looks like, only what the picture she has painted on her face looks like.

Maybe make up kicks it for some guys, but for me I never did like artificial anything. I love flowers but plastic flowers belong in the garbage can. Naturally curly hair is pretty, naturally straight hair is gorgeous, but artificially curled or straightened hair just looks... fake. And it's the same for me with make up. Wear it if you want, but don't ask me if I like how you look. I won't complain about it but I'd much rather you look like you.

I remember an Arlo & Janis cartoon where Janis was contemplating a bit of cosmetic surgery. Arlo didn't see the need of it. Janis said, "But I wear make up. What's the difference between make up and a nip and tuck here and there?"

Arlo replied, "I've been telling you for thirty YEARS you don't need all that make up."

When you go somewhere, can you distinguish whether a woman has straightened her hair with a flat iron or whether she has naturally straight hair?

Actually a few months ago the hair topic came up in the Singles forum. Somebody posted pics and I correctly identified hair that had been straightened.

Mind you it's your hair, not mine. You're free to do whatever you want with it. I just think naturally curly or straight looks better than fake curly or straight.
