The works God called me to do are the best works for me.

It changes sometimes. For the past 11 years I have been a mom to my son, then later my daughter. Wife to my husband. Sunday school teacher to some 1st graders, tutor, girl scout helper, etc.

The jobs go on and the good works accompany the task God gives me.

However yesterday He blessed me with the opportunity to give a teenager a ride from the community center to his house around sunset. It was about a 5 mile walk on a school night.

I had my Christian music playing...maybe it will plant a seed. Its all in God's hands, but i sometimes get caught up in my own world that I don't notice others who God wants us to reach too.
ark amen sister.. amen..

NOOOO.. I'm saying that a person cannot truly believe in God unless they believe EVERYTHING about Him.. Otherwise there is no sense in getting saved. Live, die, rot in the ground and that's it. And the bible is GOD's doctrine, not mine. :) I didn't write the bible..

So are you saying those that have a difference in doctrine to you are not saved?
The doctrine that you believe as stated above.

Its one thing to say to someone you will go to hell... but its another work to say hey there take walk on the wild side.. lol

I think i would go for its a heresey to say you are the done deal before judgemnet day..
I wouldn't call it heresy. I would call it..."you better watch your mouth cuz Dad is gonna get you" bad judgement on their part.

The Bible says don't judge another person's servant.

We can tell a brother or sister out of love that they are sinning and need to stop. However, we cross the line when we condemn them to hell.

It's never too late for God to save anyone.

No everyone knows self righteousness is wrong. What some don't get is the righteousness God imparts to us "alien" from Christ is what makes our "proper" righteousness which belongs to us (so could be called "self righteousness" but is created to give God glory not ourselves. Therefore it's NOT SELFISH righteousness which really is just called pride.

I agree, everyone says it is wrong But I do n think they all kn W what it is.. I believe the righteousness they think comes for Christ does not come from Christ at all. But from self

If they could see this they may be able to repent

Do you understand the term "proper righteousness" as used by Luther, EG?

While on the surface this is a nice post. It does NOT address anything EG is talking about in his post.
What determine salvation?
EG has stated over and over again that sanctification happens and is needed in the lives of a believer.
The difference is WHO do you glorify in bringing about that change: YOURSELF or God?
Why do you want to mix justification and sanctification?
I do not understand this question. The reason is change only happens in the context of Jesus and
the Holy Spirit, so all the glory goes to Him. Now I have never thought of bring praise to myself
because how could I a failed sinner.

This is why I find this is a straw man question.
It is like saying who motivates you to do good works? Because of Christs love it is Christ.
If you know how lost one is without Christ, everything in ones heart desires to bring things
back to Him, because He is the source of life.

My only question to those who raise such questions, is, do you know the brutality of the cross
the suffering and shame involved, and you and I put Him there. And He forgives us.
Everything feeds from this. To not listen and obey the Lord is to dishonour this very act,
which we learn each day to value more.

Now what flabbergasts me is this fascination with safety. Christ is about risk, faith, knowing
righteousness and love conquers sin every time, purity and holiness is everything. A corrupt
split society rots from the inside out. To walk in Christ is not to know who will overturn you
persecute and destroy what you have, but it does not matter because you know Jesus.

So if you know Jesus, why do you need a theology of being safe? Do you not trust Him?

If I had a friend and we made a deal, but I wanted penalty clauses, a commitment that no
matter what I would be safe, would this convey trust and being a team together, or I did
not trust him at all and wanted my end safe. So I suspect things are really very different
than people admit to, and they are not sure of their relationship with God, and want so
reassurance or else they will lie awake in fear it will all go wrong.

And I become a target because I am starting the whole insecurity apple cart all over again,
because the real understanding of Jesus is just missing.

My favourite character in scripture is Mary Magdeline. She gave her all to her Lord, and just
loved Him, and He appreaciated this. I suspect she was the woman caught in adultery.
He knows us and loves us, and sin is something profoundly wrong but conquered.

The Lord is so much more than theological ideas, or constructs, or easy solutions.
This is eternal significance, yet I do not read this is many of the words or approaches here.

You mean you don't see the big cheesy grin, yellow smiley face man?

But you can answer too.

I think Jimbo said he was Anglican? Might be wrong.
.PeterJens attends a Baptist church. FranC attends a Wesleyan church.

Don't know about anyone else.
You mean that big cheesy grin that takes up most the screen on my IPad?

I would love to have a big smiley face like that?

Me?

I think I'm a mongrel.

My ancestors were Muslim, including my mum.
I wasn't exposed to it full on but the roots were their and made known.

When I fostered out I was taken to an Anglican Church, but had exposure to the Catholic Church as a result of going to a Catholic School.

When I left for college I ended up at Baptist Church then I ended up at the current church I go to. Been in it for 27 years.

Not sure how I would describe it. It's a New Frontiers International Church.
The focus is on a church that is the same as the early New Testament Church.

New Frontiers is a Reformed (Calvinistic soteriology) that is charismatic (neo or new charismatic).

Here we go with nonsense again, the typical ( You can be a homicidal maniac rapist murderer nonsense which always precedes a works salvation theology.

I am am glad your not a maniac homicidal rapist homophobic or whatever Peter. Praise god,

however that that does not make you saved. Take yourself out of the rquation. Only then can you trust Christ, until then , you will always be passing these same old nonsensical let's judge others self righteous salvation, and reject grace
This is not answering the question. And the answer is behaviour matters.
Faith alone is not enough, it needs to be reflected in a faithful loving walk.

I do not know why you cannot admit this simple point. The law of Christ is
the law of love. If you had met people soaked in hatred and animosity, you
would know how profound Jesus is and His walk.

We can get hyper sensitive to issues that God is not worried about, and miss
the very ones His heart breaks over, people being lost, alone without even one
friend in the whole world who cares about them. We have a world full of people
yet loneliness and isolation, depression and anxiety are the biggest problems people
face.

And you want to ask me to repent about your unusual view on security in Christ.
We need to learn how to reach out and help people belong and know we love them
and God loves them at a level it would blow their minds. The cross is stunning, enough
to knock anyone over if they see it, properly.

tell me which works best for you lol..

and which works is the best works going..aprt from Jesus of course... which works goes best for anyone here who is a believer.... what work doi you like best ?
I find that question hard to answer, not because the question is wrong but because I know what I am like and what I feel about myself as a person.

Believe it or not my wife and I have were asked to lead a new ministry in our church just over 6 months ago. I love it.
But then I find myself constantly thinking, saying "God why on earth are using me, I'm a screw up"

I also have the problem of looking inwards a lot and looking at my negatives as a person, focus on that and plead to God help me.

i would see that as a blessing and God working mirracles in your life.. now that you are working mirracles in others in return.
