I know why and how we repent.
I believe that God does convict us, as in warns us, before we go and do something stupid. Then he convicts us afterward, as in "I warned you not to do that, and now you have the consequences".. Exactly the same way people warn us and then say, I told you so.. lol

you convict a criminal and impose a penalty for them to pay for their crime.

I am not going to say it yet.
Before I do I just want to ask a question based on repenting, and I'm talking post conversion here.
Lets suppose one has an issue with anger.
One day they get angry and 'repent'
The next day or a couple of days later they get angry again.
Then a few days later again.
Have they truly repented?
If not why not, if not then what?
This question is not aimed at you my precious cancer free sister in Christ (My heart did a jig and big smile on my face when I read that having my coffee break outside Starbucks,)
Its a question I would ask everyone who reads this response.

Yeah I get where you are coming from.
It should be a "sin, repent, obey" cycle.
Walking with God allows you to see the root of your issues and why you sin in the first place.
It should be sin, repent, be shown God's truth about why you sin, overcome that sin and move on to grow in a different area in your life. Maybe help others overcome that sin later.
Most sins are rooted in lies and can be torn down if you gain wisdom through scriptures and the Holy spirit.
For example greed can be combated with loving others and wanting them to have enough and be happy, therefore learning to be generous instead of hoarding wealth for oneself,one gives freely to others and bless them because of how the love of God has changed your heart.
Hope that makes sense.
Don't focus on your self effort. Focus on God and trust Him to tell you if you need to change something in your walk with Him. Seek to do good and you will find too much to occupy your thoughts and hands to find time to do evil.

It makes perfect sense. Listening to people the emotional side of life, what motivates us
to do certain things and not others seems to be ignored, so when you focus on the symtoms
of a broken life without love, not surprisingly they keep on occurring.
Deep things in life are knowing you are loved, holding bad feelings about your family, hiding
a deep rejection and lack of self worth. The feelings generate drive people to depression,
suicide, drugs, alcohol, addictive behaviours etc.
If one approaches God with a check list it all fails. It is so much more profound, encompassing.
The more you let love flow in your heart the more these wrinkles disappear.
Once you know you are loved, it changes things. You can be more honest and open, not be
afraid of getting hurt. Even allowing oneself to be hurt to carry others.
A child when it learns to walk, it is learning about everything and how it all works together.

closed down and feel defeated. If some have grown up in unloving environments, there
are many things they need to learn how to experience and grow into despite where they
came from. God makes this possible. It is stunning, but there are no limits to what we can

2. The Holy spirit would never convict you as a sinner. He convicts/reproved/rebuke individual sins, which are specific actions and thoughts that need to be changed to conform with God's truth and will.
